Tommy is legit my favorite character in these games, stayed back holding a door with a horde of infected on the other side so Joel and Sarah could escape, turns into freakin Chuck Norris to avenge his brother, here tells Ellie to escape at the expense of his life, Tommy is a real one

He went to Seattle purely out of the need for revenge, just as Ellie did. All the things they both end up losing is a result of the destructive path revenge takes a person on, showing that it is a depressing way to move forward that will leave you worse off than before

Also he was the most angry that being his brother and he suggested listening to his wife the voice of reason but he knew ellie wouldn't. The whole message of vengeance giving you nothing would be more impacrful if we wasn't spending the whole game killing their members. Or of joel didn't die in the beginning but in the middle as both sides start to realize. But all we got was fans wanting to finish off the antagonist but left not doing that

@@tonkinjeezus6626 the reason we play as the villain is to show the duality of the story. Revenge arcs arent cut and dry and this puts that into sharp relief. Abby's motivations for killing Joel, while they put her at odds with what we want, is basically the same revenge arc we embark on in order to avenge somebody. Then Ellie, Tommy, and Jesse kill all her friends and the people that were close to her. Taking up the role as antagonist is a divisive storytelling device, but it keeps this from being a dime a dozen revenge arc that we've seen hundreds of times throughout various media.
The point is there isn’t a “villain” and a “hero” - everyone in the game is a fucking monster - but it’s justified for all of them.
It's not supposed to make you feel happy or bad. It gives you another view of what happened. To show you that everyone is right from their own perspective. If you can't notice and appreciate it, you don't deserve to play this game.

Okay everyone let’s regroup here. Ellie lived in Jackson with Joel and they never went on patrol that day because of the storm. Abby and friends tried to get into Jackson but failed greatly. They now are all dead. They are all happily ever after.
Perfect just one addition, Abby randomly gets struck by some sort of “special” lightning while pegging Owen...horrifically frying them in torturous agony for an impossibly long time before finally allowing them to pass on...to hell.

Then its Joel and Ellie hunting Abby down throughout the game.
At the end they kill Abby but Joel gets fatally injured and dies too. A fitting death.

Ellie has an emotional breakdown after killing the pregnant woman, casuing her to forget to pick up her map off the floor. Abby finds that map and it leads her right to their hideout where she gets the drop on Tommy.

I'll say this until I'm blue in the face; the reason that scene played out like that is because Abby was real upset over finding out that Mel, who was also pregnant and her friend, died at Ellie's hands just like Dina was about to die at her hands. The scene makes more sense when you think of it that way.

I seriously don't understand how people think you're supposed to root for Abby in this game. Just because you play as a character doesn't mean you have to be on their side. In fact the scene where you run after Ellie makes this very clear bc it's obvious in the gameplay that the game knows you don't want to do it
This is not the point, ur not meant to pick a side, the game wants to show us how both Ellie and Abby destroyed their lifes searching for revenge, the game just put us to play as Abby sometimes for us to see her side of the story too, her point of view

i did like the abby pov tho it was the only way to show her side and makes alot of sense. the thing that upset people is that this game is about revenge and how important someones perspective is rather then about stopping the virus(which was kinda the point of the 1st game) stopping the virus without sacrificing elle.

The fact that I had to try and kill Ellie while playing Abby broke me. I didn’t want to do it. While fighting Ellie, I just wanted her to kill me to get Abby killed and over and done with, but the game won’t let you do that. It was heartbreaking that I was forced to fight her. Ellie means to much to me and that fight shattered me and I hated that.

This game was seriously wasted killed off a great character make you play as the killer who beats up the other great character you as Ellie kill many people to get to abby just to then let her go in the end. Completely wasted
It works in both ways. Ellie did as much wrong as Abby AND killed a pregnant woman.

@@bjakeijzer If you exclude cutscenes, then yea, pretty much. This happens in the prologue of the story and is essentially what kicks off the game. There is little to no gameplay before Joel dies.
The true ending: Joel survives and in the basement fight with Abby a bloater comes and destroys Abby

I don't like how it happened either, but you can't say that Abby didn't have her own revenge arc going. Also Abby spares Ellie twice, a pregnant Dina once (big assist from Lev in that but she's still alive regardless) and spares Tommy twice, once on purpose once by accident. I'd say the opposite is true to the point you're trying to make. Nobody expects any forgiveness because it's a revenge arc on both ends, but that is what ends up happening and the endless number of people whining about it just don't get why it's poignant or realistic.

I think people are sleeping on the fact that it was Lev that stayed Abby's hand when she was going to kill Dina. I don't understand how people are mad at these deathscenes. It's realistic and makes it unsettling. Jesse's abrupt death and Abby straight up shooting Tommy in the back of the head is crazy heart breaking.

ITS A GAME you shouldnt just leave players unsatisfied after killing their favorite characters. imagine in rdr 2 you have to play as micah for the epilouge and kill john and sadie adler and then you finnaly play as john you beat micah and you just let micah go..... the whole thing is then for nothing.

so in this ending, she literally ruins every single relationship she had while not even gaining the slightest bit of closure, she doesn’t kill abby, she loses everyone, & abby bit her fingers so she can’t even play her & joels guitar part properly.
i understand what the devs were trying to do with emotions in this game & how not every ending is perfect but god damn, everything about ellie’s decisions & how the choices progress is horrible.
like the whole “revenge is bad” plot point is thrown out the window once you remember that ellie ran through a whole army to get to abby & abby did malicious ass activities the whole game, especially responding “good.” in reaction to almost murdering a PREGNANT WOMAN.

I have absolutely no idea how Tommy got shot point blank in the face and ended up surviving that baffled me
surprisingly enough, a lot of people tend to survive headshots, the skull is stronger than you think, he was shot with a Berreta M9 which uses 9mm bullets, and the bullet came at an angle, which could have had it easily bounce off.
I mean, he still got pretty damn lucky that he was only semi-paralyzed afterwards, but it's very possible. Some of the enemies in the game can actually randomly survive a headshot from smaller calibers

I don’t understand how Tommy is still alive after all his injuries, man got shot in the head and he can still think and do things properly. He also got an arrow to the leg, and got his eye smashed up. If a part 3 comes out, he will most likely be fully recovered. If he can manage all that, he’s definitely Joel’s brother. His durability just might even be higher then Joel’s, even though Joel got a medal bar through his stomach although it’s debatable.

the gameplay is worth it, the story is actually decent if you sit through the entire thing, the problem is the pacing of the Abby story, they make you play as her for 14 hours straight right after a cliffhanger. if the story was structured differently the game would be an 9/10 for me, now it's like a 7
