- You probably can't tell but as tropical folks, we were initially pretty anxious about visiting the Ice Village of Tomamu due to its extreme temperatures of -20ºC (which can dip to -30ºC on some days!). But wow it's such a magical experience we're so glad we did! Each year, the Ice Village unveils something new, so keep an eye on their website for the latest updates: www.snowtomamu...

Amazing sharing!
Thank you so much for watching!
Hi, how did you learn to drive in the challenging winter conditions? Are there any advice for another fellow tropical driver? Thank you!
Hi! We think it really helps that drivers in Japan are generally kind and patient on the road. On our end, we make it a point to not drive more than 40-50km/h on very icy roads and when visibility is low. Also, there are also lots of expressways in Hokkaido that cut through mountain ranges and they tend to be windy, be extra careful when driving along those as well. Other than that, just be sure to allocate a good amount of travel buffer time and pit stop rests so that you can recharge before continuing on the road 😊
