Hi we’re Fiona and Khye, a travel couple passionate about all things Japan. Tag along our quest of exploring all 47 prefectures!
A day in Kawagoe | Tokyo Day Trip
Affectionately known as Little Edo, Kawagoe really feels like scenes that are straight out of Showa period era. And we love the fact that it's only 30 minutes away from Tokyo!

It turned into a ‘Snaku Fighto’ real quick 💥🤣. These July boxes got us super excited as @TokyoTreat took us on a “trip” to Okinawa (a prefecture we haven’t visited yet) and @wearesakuraco's Festivals of Tohoku had us reminiscing about our best memories in the region. If you don’t know already, these are like omakase snacks in a box delivered straight from Japan right up to your doorstep! With T...

This is cute
Welp, I guess I'm going to need more than 8 hours in Nagoya 😂 Thanks for the list! I like the cheerful music choice. Happy travels!
🤣 definitely more than 8 hours. Hope you enjoy yourself in Nagoya!

Another awesome video. This channel deserves more love! Fighting!
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words of encouragement. Happy New Years to you! 🥳
Hi there! Back to your channel again and thanks once more😊 we cant drive as we arent familiar with snowy roads. Can u advise if u know, how to get from shikotsu to chitose station? Google says Chuo bus but i cant find out if reservation needed etc... also unsure of price etc. If i take cab..will it be easy but very costly? Thanks for any advice!
Hi! Don’t think reservation is needed for Chuo bus as it’s a local bus. You can see the link here! hyoutou-special.asia/
@shoyutheworld gosh, thank you so so much! Really appreciate your help so so much. Please stay blessed and have an awesome 2025!
@shoyutheworld I don't know how u found it but u solved my problem that I've been troubled over for a full week! The website sells the bus tix at the perfect timing for me! Thank you for being so amazing!
greetings from sydney//thanks for such an informative vlog.. im literally going to visit every place you have mentioned in a weeks time, youve given such great insight. hope the conditions are not too bad for driving!
Thank you so much for watching, we’re so happy you stumbled upon our vlog just in time. Hope that you have a blast in Hokkaido 🙏🏻 when driving on snowy roads, we try not to go over 50km/h, set ample buffer time and breaks to get to destinations. Hopefully that helps!

How much did you pay for the security deposit?
There was no security deposit. We had to pay the entire rental fee upfront upon collection of the car, which is still usually the case as far as we know 😊
What I did when I went to Japan was that I'm from saudi Arabia. I always take my car with me when I always go to japan it's better for me and saves me money from renting
Wow! 🤯
I’m searching to reserve but all fully booked. Is there a lot of local companies that also offer drift ice walking tour ? ThNks
Our drift ice instructor also previously recommended Lantoko and you can check them out here facebook.com/share/1FrdtpGSG1/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Thank you for exploring furano,. but so, how did you come back after went to ningle terrace ? i just saw that lastest bus until 4pm only ?
Thank you for watching! We booked a cab with the help of concierge at Furano Prince Hotel lobby 😊
@ thank you man for your response. It help a lot. 🙏
What are some price ranges like .. in $US?
With the exception of hitsumabushi which is about USD40, the rest are between USD3-15 😄
What type of camera do u use? The video is so beautiful
Thank you, we’re glad that you loved it. This was shot on Fujifilm X-H2S 🙏🏻☺️
What day of the weekend is the best to go????
Both days are good to be honest. But check the schedule here as they may not be open due to weather changes or certain public holidays trx.jp/event/
@@shoyutheworld thanks!!
Omggg your channel is so underrated 🥹. I love your channel! Your videos are so calming, and the way you share is beautiful. You both are such a lovely couple! 🤭
Thank you for watching and such a lovely compliment, you totally made our day! ☺️
Can you actually rent a driver as well? Haha
Hmmm there probably is such a service out there but not from the platforms we use
@shoyutheworld Thank you for the response.
Blimey, can’t believe we escaped the muggle world for 3 wand-erful hours and had our wizarding moment at Harry Potter Visions of Magic🪄🤩 There are 10 immersive zones packed with interactive installations, and we had TOO much fun-especially Khye, who’s an absolute Potterhead! I wanna come
I need to go!!
Thank you so much. Love your videos and such an inviting, serene piece of music in the background. Wonder if u can advise if and where I can get non-expensive snow boots at the airport or at Sapporo/odori station? My plan is to take the train to Sapporo and get the boots immediately before heading outdoor where theres ice everywhere..thank you so much in advance!
We got our snow boots from this store near Susukino station (pretty near from Sapporo station too). It’s a local brand that specializes in boots made for Hokkaido winter called Daiichi Gomu and it was about ¥8000. Hope it helps! maps.app.goo.gl/VvV7Zup9FVHXi4CA9?g_st=ic Thank you so much for watching and we hope you have a blast in Hokkaido!
@shoyutheworld thank you so much! U even added a link for me! So touched. U two are so kind and lovely😊
Beautiful video for a beautiful city
Thank you for watching and really glad you felt that way cos we wanted to recreate that magical feeling of Hokkaido in winter ☺️
I hate when I see food being squeezed to death and made a mess just to show the liquid. Visual version of nails on a chalkboard for me
Hi KHYE, just wished to say thanks for the sharing especially the Goen Yakuniku. We went there 2 weeks ago after seeing your video knowing the good deal. To our surprise, they were having anniversary fair to thanks their supporters where 14 type of meats are at half price. Its was the most valued Yakuniku we had and we went there for dinner twice.
@@BBearLee omg that sounds like a crazy deal!! So so happy that you guys went and enjoyed it, our pleasure sharing! Did you all drive there?
@shoyutheworld yup, me and my wife were on a road trip. 1946km from Narita to Aomori and back to Narita. Imagine more than 15 portions with total bill less than SGD 45 for the Yakuniku
Omg wow that’s an epic road trip!! 😱 the yakiniku must have been like a trophy prize for the first leg of the drive 😂
How were the road conditions from Asahikawa to Tomamu? I have a similar route planned in December but many ppl been telling us not to drive 😢
We’re not sure about conditions in December as this trip was back in February when it was peak snowfall (snowfall happened overnight and during the day it was mostly clear). So visibility was clear during the day and we tried not to drive at night as much as possible. Also we stayed at an inn near Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, about 10 mins away so it wasn’t much of an issue for us
People outside of Japan should be making this! It's so easy to prepare and has a very comforting flavor. I know that if I was Japanese, my mother would have made this for me often. The more I experience real Japanese comfort food, the more I realize how similar it is to traditional American recipes.
Totally! The comforting flavors are so universal. 😋
I'm contemplating of renting a car or by bus to travel here. Do you mind sharing the rental cost, including fuel and toll price?
Of course! We rented the Toyota ROOMY model and that was ¥6600 for a day (please keep it mind that price might have gone up since then). Fuel was conservatively about ¥2000. And there was no toll between Asahikawa, to Biei and Furano (maybe there was but we opted for no toll route and you can toggle for this on your google maps)
@shoyutheworld Thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it. Btw loved your vlog. Keep it going!
thank you for those words of encouragement, it means a lot to us to have every support gracing our little channel and community 🙏🏻😄 hope you have a blast on your trip!
Saw it on an anime Now I really want it
Yas 🤤
Great video! The only problem was that stupid RUclips was blocking the subtitles.
Ah that's a bummer! Hopefully they fix that soon 🙏 may we know if you’re on viewing on android/iOS?
Mac. When I watch the video on my iOS it's fine.
Hi, may I know about the drone spec used in this video, and the regulations/procedure required to be abided?
Hi Will, we filmed the drone footages here using the DJI Mini 3 Pro. In Japan, you are required to register your drones online as long as it weighs more than 100g so Mini 3 Pro qualifies. You can register and refer to the drone rules here too www.mlit.go.jp/koku/drone/en/ Hope this helps! 😄
I had no idea how to open it. 😅This was my first time trying one 😳and I got a melon flavored one. 💚
Wow!! We’ve never tried a melon flavored one 😄 glad this video helped!
my dumbass read that as panchiko 💀

What time did you go to Ningle Terace? 😊
Around 5pm Japan time 😊
Can’t believe we spent 3 hours here just taking in all the details and videos 😂 Hands down one of the best exhibitions at ASM we’ve experienced to date (the other being teamlab) 📍 World of Studio Ghibli, ArtScience Museum 📆 4th Oct 2024 - 2nd Feb 2025
I’ve almost convinced my parents to come with me to Japan!!!

Yea! Plenty of gems on offer and we got super lucky with this one given the condition 🤩
Bro really said "😐😐😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😐😐"

True, that me 🤣🤣🤣
So, do these foxes work for Inari or something?
Not officially documented anywhere that it is so, but perhaps? 😂
Okay , this video was very helpful . Thanks 🙂
Happy that it did and hope you enjoyed your drink!
Im surprised you didnt get more views, your VLOG are so beautiful and cinematic! ❤ it!
Wah thanks for the kind words Andy 🙏🏻 appreciate it man. Are you based in Malaysia? My hometown too 😊
@@shoyutheworld yes im from Penang, im going Hokkaido in December for the first time and stumbled upon your video ! oh may i know what camera and lens you're using?
Nice! I’m sure you’ll have an amazing time in Hokkaido 🙌🏻 this was shot on Fujifilm X-HS2 and XF 16-55mm, the links to the equipment are in the description 😊
Nobody told us about this time portal straight to Showa era in Hirosaki, Aomori 😱 Seriously though, finding charming gems like one never fail to make us beam widely. Yakitori from as low as ¥70 to large highballs as low as ¥200, with immaculate vibes all around? We’re sold! 🍻 Best part is we later found out that this is actually part of a chain Izakaya that also has presence in major cities like Tokyo, just keep a lookout for Hanbey! 📍 Hakuri Tabai Hanbey | #薄利多賣半兵ヱ 📸 Fujifilm X-H2S
How did you travel into Furano? By train? Will you recommend going these places in this episode for those without car?
We had a rental car and drove from Asahikawa, Biei and to Furano. It’s possible to commute between Asahikawa, Biei and Furano by train. However you have be okay with being restricted to the train timings, which might not work well with your itinerary. If you’re taking the train you really have to plan out your route and timings in order to have a smooth commute between attractions 😊
Sept 16th, 2023 - A day that altered my life forever. It’s been exactly one year since the accident and I’ve finally found the strength to revisit the footage from that day. Even though it’s been 12 months, it feels like it happened yesterday. The fire, the fear and the helplessness-it all still lingers in my mind, replaying itself in flashes that I can’t escape 🥺 Words can’t truly capture the pain, the agony or the terror I felt in those moments. Some days, I still wish it had never happened. But these scars, the ones I bear inside and out, constantly remind me that it did. I’ve come to learn that this accident is now a part of me. As much as I hate it, it’s my story. It’s my proof that life gave me another shot, another chance to keep living. Sharing this is part of my healing, thank you for being here. Stay tuned as I share my recovery 💪🏻 #burnsurvivor
Because of my stupidity as young man, unfortunately i will never be allowed in Japan.
Did you visit during early feb ? Was planning my winter there too. i really enjoy the peacefulness of your video 😊
@@superhap ah yes this was actually 11 Feb 2023 😄 thank you so much for watching and we’re so happy you enjoyed it. Hokkaido in winter has a pristine peacefulness to it and we wanted that to translate in the video 🙏🏻☺️ hope you enjoy your trip too, is it going to be in the coming February?
@@shoyutheworld Yes, I have watch most of your videos. Planning to go during early feb for the pristine peacefulness too. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your support 🥹 and we’re really excited for your trip, safe travels!
Do you need permit to fly the drone?
Yea in Japan, all drones need to be registered on the Unmanned Aircraft Registration Web Portal - www.mlit.go.jp/koku/drone/en/
Your video is amazing. Can I ask what month did you take this trip?
It was 14 Nov 2018 when we visited 🙏🏻😄 thank you so much for watching! Are you planning a trip there too?
