A day in Kawagoe | Tokyo Day Trip
Affectionately known as Little Edo, Kawagoe really feels like scenes that are straight out of Showa period era. And we love the fact that it's only 30 minutes away from Tokyo!

We stumbled upon this beautiful shop and did an impromptu handmade souvenir! These one-of-a-kind lanterns are crafted using intricate hand-painted artwork recycled from the Kuroishi Neputa Festival! 🎇 Each lantern, made by selecting and combining square pieces cut from a Neputa painting, is lined with traditional colors and patterns, making them even more special. If you’re short on time, you can also purchase their ready-made Neputa lanterns and fans directly off the shelves! 🏮🪭 The shop also features a variety of lovely Tsugaru goods made by Aomori artists, so be sure to drop by the next time you’re in Japan! ✈️🇯🇵 📍IRODORI, Aomori | #いろどり 🏮 Neputa lantern making starting from ¥3960 🚶🏻♀️ 10-minute walk from Kuroishi station 👨🏻💻 Reservation can be made via their Instagram DM at @irodori_kuroishi ✨Recommend to make a reservation to secure your slot!
Did thye put clam chowder on a burger 😅😅😅😊😊 lol ill try it tho
They did put clam chowder but on a hamburg steak, not a burger. Really hits the spot 😋 you should try it if you have the chance, it’s an underrated food choice in Japan amongst tourists

For the language curious, 🈵 is read ‘man’ and 🈳 is read ‘kara’ We had our fair share of headaches when parking rental cars over the years in Japan and have condensed here our learnings especially with the ground lock plate parking. Remember to always pay first before leaving your lot. You certainly don’t want to be that guy in the video intro 😅 The rest you might find is pretty straightforward, though we haven’t tried the lift parking type 😂 Drive safe and enjoy 🇯🇵

How much for the ice drift adventure in Shiretoko Peninsula?
Hello! It was ¥6,000 per pax when we did it. However, the company we engaged for this activity is no longer doing it anymore but has suggested another company that offers this service. It’s called Lantoko lantoko.com/info_eng/ if you like to check it out 😊
I want the recipe please

We met many incredibly kind hearted strangers during our Japan trips over the years but this particular encounter definitely takes the cake! Although it happened 5 years ago, we remember it like yesterday♥️ The handmade pouch she gifted me is something I still use every day to keep my house keys. Her random act of kindness reminded us that hope and love still exist. Thank you Obachan! 😍 I hope you are doing well! お元気でね 🫶🏻 Have you had similar encounters like this in Japan? Thanks this is very helpful. How to book Yamato for picking up at our address? Thanks
You gotta visit a Yamato Service Center to enquire 😊 just google Yamato Service Center on maps for the nearest one
Hi guys I would like to ask you I am arriving in Osaka Kix end of November and going to drive to Matsumoto and takayama. I tried to book through Toyota and Nissan but on the website choosing kansai international airport, they don't have the option with winter tire at all with the dates that I am going. Does this mean that it's too early to book with winter tire or does it mean they don't provide that at the airport? What would be your suggestion if it's not available should I rent and then maybe change the rental car for winter tire at Matsumoto and pay the fee for returning in a different location? Thanks a lot in advance
Hi Teddy! Based on our experience, snow tires are generally offered as a standard option during snowy period across Japan except for parts of Japan that don't experience snowfall at all. So it could be that your selection already has snow tires included. We're going to include here some info on snow tires that we found on their websites, hopefully they are useful to you. Also, perhaps info on tabirai (a booking aggregator that we use a lot) might also be helpful. Toyota : rent.toyota.co.jp/global_eng/service/option.html Nissan : nissan-rentacar.com/en/car/option-fee Tabirai : en.tabirai.net/car/service/studless/ Just in case, perhaps drop them an email to confirm? Also, we'd advise booking a 4WD car which tends to give more control when maneuvering the vehicle on snowy roads. Hopefully a provider is able to help you sort this out soon 🙏🏻
@@shoyutheworld thanks a lot guys really appreciate your help 😊
Thanks. I saw this next to my supermarket sushi and thought...y not. Then I was stuck when the bottle looked like a puzzle. It's delicious!!!
Understandably so! We’re happy that the payoff was well worth it for you 😂

Hi there , which month was this ?
@@nimezs1015 hello! This was 1st week of April 2023 😊
Khye, I love your green winter jacket. What brand is it??
Thank you! It’s Uniqlo 😄 I’ve been wearing this for quite a few years now and it’s serving me well so far. It’s latest design has evolved quite a bit since then
Hello there! Do you still remember which car rental company did you go with? And how was the drive back to Sapporo at night?
@@EssenceFlux hello! Toyota rent a car in Sapporo 😊 it was snowing lightly but manageable. We also had driven multiple times in our previous trips in Japan at this point. We’d advise keeping speed well within 40-50km/h to be safe
@@shoyutheworld Thank you for replying! Was it very dark at night while travelling back?
So we were driving from Lake Shikotsu back to Sapporo. In the surrounding areas of the lake, it was pretty dark with only some street lamps and headlights from our car. But it got brighter when we got on the expressway onwards.
@@shoyutheworld Thank you!! This helps alot!
@@EssenceFlux you’re welcome, enjoy your trip! We miss Hokkaido 🥲
Dankeschön .

I didn't find instructions on the bottle so I thought I might had to shake it upside down to get 'that thing' (marble) away from the opening. After I burned my hand trying to twist the iron cap of the bottle. Than I found your video and half of my Ramune lychee is now on my table and floor 😂 Good that I still have the other half haha. Thank you 🙏🏼
😅😅 ouch that’s a painful and messy experience, so glad you still managed to taste some ramune!

@@shoyutheworld You're welcome! Love how calming each video is. Honestly, you guys inspired me to vlog more. I'm planning to visit next year. It will be my first time to experience snow so I'm excited and worried at the same time haha!
Not to set too high of a bar (cos we completely recall our first time seeing snow in Japan), but snow in Hokkaido especially when you nail its peak is mad amazing 😱 you’ve got lots of time to plan so we’re sure you’ll be all right!

Oh man this industry always amazes me. I have a Macross Fever in white frame and can only imagine what it is like living next to them like they do. Must be really fun to play and they have an entire super cool setup for it all. Bless.
Ohh I had no idea what Macross Fever was until I did a search and realised we might have seen them a couple of times before! Never tried those machines though 😄
My daughter received one of these without the opener and I have not had any luck pushing the marble down by hand
Oh no 😮 the tap opener was probably discarded before she received it. It’s impossible to push the marble down by hand from our experience. I wonder if you’d have better luck trying with a metal straw of some sort
Where is this exactly in Tokyo?
It’s here at Oi Racecourse Flea Market 😄 maps.app.goo.gl/4oxSuVkDqCcvSnZi6?g_st=com
What a spectacle to see café au lait being crafted here! 🤯 Using the high pour technique, they achieve more milk aeration for a lighter texture that blends coffee perfectly. I don’t usually drink coffee, but their café au lait was worth my coffee quota! 😛 Khye enjoyed it so much that we visited the cafe twice, this time for their siphon coffee. And of course, we couldn’t resist trying their apple donut since Aomori is known for apples! 🍎They also offer a wide variety of food and non-coffee drinks, so there’s something for everyone! 😋 📍 Coffee Shop Mugiwara Boshi, Aomori City | #珈琲茶館麦藁帽子 ☕️ Café Au Lait (カフェオレ) - ¥780 🚶🏻♀️ 8-minute walk from Aomori station

Brought Khye along for a therapeutic art date! I knew I wanted to draw something related to Japan, so I painted the iconic Great Wave Off Kanagawa with a twist - in rainbow colors! 🌊🌈 Halfway through, I was thinking to myself, I should have chosen something simpler to draw like what Khye did with his cute Yoshi.
