This comic is genuinely beautiful, and now that I'm grown up, I can finally appreciate the parallels between glados and doug, being polar opposites, a stone cold killer and a thoughtful person, one ignoring their conciousness, and the other embracing it, and their treatment of chell, both idolizing her in different ways, its beautiful.
People forget that behind all the cute writing and memes Glados is nightmarishly evil. The personification of meaningless cruelty and cold analytical curiousity.
You know, portal always gestates in the back of your mind as the funny robot puzzle game, until you stop and consider the true ramifications of it's characters and world. And then it becomes a truly grim, sad and lonely setting - it just makes me want to weep. This comic was just so existentially sad - to fight and fight, and never know if it was worth it.
I feel so bad for poor Rattman. He was the sole survivor and has been cooped up for 180 days, going insane without any human contact and talking to his companion cubes as a moral compass. 💀 he may not be that crazy, or like a coincidence because the companion cube having a voice of a woman supports the popular theory in the fandom that the companion cube has the human scientists inside of them, which is why GLaDOS made you incinerate it before going into the emancipation grill. If you found out they’re made of people inside you’d not complete the tests and GLaDOS’s itches would act up for her. Oh that’s explained in Portal 2 when the same thing happens to Wheatley if he didn’t test. Seriously tho poor Rattman went through all that shit and then had to also avoid the turrets and *her* with his companion cube.
Years ago, I played the Portal games, found the murals and radios, even read the comic, and still thought Doug was just a neatly characterized plot device to set the gears in motion. Your work, however, has really sold his character, 100%: a kind, desperate man in the most impossible of circumstances trying to keep even the slightest grasp on what's real, running and hiding through the same white, gray, and beige rooms for an amount of time he probably can't even consider while subsisting on beans, murals, and radios. The advent of the Glados AI helped a lot, but the actual voice acting was phenomenal. Keep up the great work, man. You deserve far more subs than you have.

I'm glad someone took the time and effort to compose an entire voice-acted version of this comic, but Doug's voice will never cease to strike me as overly cavalier and robust. The canon lines present Doug as a somewhat squeaky and frantic sounding individual, not an understudy for a would-be Buzz Lightyear or the sort.

Change the culture (mostly the one from where said person originates from/was born and or raised in) and the mind changes. So in theory, if you make a fictional culture and you were to somehow drag and drop a child there (one that can and will develop the condition, and for that we must take into account how they're raised), where the symptoms are described differently by the people, the type of schizophrenia would be different.
