Absolutely wonderful, Liesl. You never fail to amaze me. The colours in this piece are sensational and I'll have to paint this. I love your piano playing too but I won't be attempting to emulate that. I do listen to music while I'm painting though and usually this will be Haydn symphonies which I find most relaxing. I like the idea that you can dip into painting this as time permits as I rarely get time in a day to finish a painting. Thanks again. 🥰

That is a great question, in fact I was just wondering about that myself just the other day. I haven’t tried watercolor on canvas yet, but we should experiment with that and see what happens! 😁 Thanks for watching today. ❤️

What yellow for the background so as not to clash with the gamboge yellow?
I actually think Gamboge would look really good with this, I would just paint it light in value. However, if you’re worried about it clashing or being too similar, Azo Yellow is lighter and brighter and more of a pure yellow rather than a golden yellow.

If you ever put together a CD, let me know. At first I didn’t know if I was going to like the green mix, but as soon as it touched the paper, I changed my mind! The color is perfect! @@lieslsartisticstudio Tiva had the drainage tube removed on Wednesday so she has more freedom to move about without worrying about blood or fluids. The medicine really helps with the anxiety over the collar so she's a lot more calm. Thanks for asking about her. 😊 I’m not so good at color matching yet - the darkness of the green looked so very dark. But once you painted with it, it was lighter that what it first seemed. You have such skill with how you use color. Have a super weekend! 😊💕

This is so gorgeous, the orange and the pink for shading is stunning! I decided to take up watercolor painting at 83 and I have a lot to learn but I will carry on. Your tutorials are so wonderful that I find myself just sitting and watching you paint. I find that watching is very calming and peaceful.

Love this piece so much! Thank you also for sharing that you struggle with loose painting and prefer to work with outlined designs. I also prefer to work with penciled outlines but the lines then bug me when they show through the watercolor paint. How do you deal with the lines after?
I’m so happy you liked this! Pencil lines can be a tricky thing for sure… first I draw any lines I need as lightly as I can, then I find that darker colors tend to cover a lot of the lines so they’re not visible, and lastly if I have any lines I can still see I’ll use a good eraser and erase the leftovers the best I can. Unfortunately sometimes I still have a few I can see, but usually they are not super noticeable. I guess it’s just kind of the name of the game when painting with watercolors! (As a side tip though, to help make my lines as light as possible initially I use what’s called a kneaded eraser to take off any loose graphite. @@lieslsartisticstudio thanks for the tip! I actually have the kneaded eraser, but was using it like a regular eraser and it wasn't cutting it. Hopefully I'll have better control of the pencil lines and don't totally erase my guides and feel lost mid-painting, haha! Thanks for all that you share Liesl!😘
