I was with the Band from 1972! Gary Holdman was Very special right from the start. Sang from the Gut! Awesome talent, Sadly he passed away before most people knew what he was doing!
HMK were the first band I ever saw live; they were supporting Alice Cooper's Welcome to my Nightmare concert at Wembley Arena in 1974, and nearly stole the show. I saw them again over the next couple years before Gary went his own way, once Mickie Most mangled their sound trying to make them appeal to a wider audience Gary was something special alright - great stage presence, enormous energy. And yes, that's Danny Personnel on keyboards.
Wow, came here after watching bbc4 Totally British a Rock n a Roll 70's, had no idea Gary Holton had history before Aufiedersen! Loved his stage presence and vocals! Like A mix of Brian Johnson and Robert Plant. Cool, respect. Damn, why are there no bands and personalities like this anymore?
Nah, I get the Brian Johnston bit, but Robert Plant could never sing like this ( if fact he could only sing led Zeppelin songs ). Gary Holton ( to me ) was more akin to a demented Steve Marriott in sound! :)
He very nearly had Brian Johnson's job with ac/dc his drug addiction prevent is him getting the lead singer job after what happened to Scott Bon ... sadly Garry went the same way saw him many times in the 70s with the kids heat time good memories thank you Garry
Same here...i'm a big fan of HEAVY METAL KID they are one of the Legends in the history of ROCK to be treasured forever. One of my super favorite songs ever( IT's THE SAME)

It's a shame that with Gary's great voice, they didn't cover this other impressive Vox Dei song... Don't miss it, despite the poor production that rock bands in Argentina had in those years (late 60's ), is a remarkable composition. ruclips.net/video/70WX1C-foTI/видео.html
This is the original version of this beautiful song by the legendary Argentine group Vox Dei, which was surely brought to the HM Kids by the also Argentine Danny Peyronel ruclips.net/video/qW-OqDk1Fjc/видео.html

Rock Argentino!!! Genios Vox Dei!!
What a pair of eyes and he new how to use them! I can see him in front of the mirror perfecting his performances .. respect!!
Died so young RIP Gary.
I fancied Gary Holton as a little girl of 6 watching Auf wiedersehen - I still do all these years later. Turns out he was a good singer.
The guy had it all - no good story ended well with drugs.
Had he taken the AC/DC job his life may have been different - or not.
Oh yes i fancied wayne...and barry taylor lol

Their best moving closest to Faces song though groovy.killer.superb.

I can see why ACDC had him on their short list
Agree. But what agreat singer was Brian had with Geordie. A cross between Plant and Rodgers. He completely changed his style for ACDC
They deserved to make it..but sadly didn't. Gary was a good frontman
