It did in later years . . Upon its initial release it did get some airplay but with bands like Deep Purple , Led Zeppelin , The Doobies , Uriah Heep etc this album got a bit lost in the shuffle at the time which was 1973 . Today some 50 years later magazines like Kerrang , Metal Edge and Rolling Stone all have this LP at the top of their all time great list . I would also like to mention that even though the follow up , Paper Money , sold well , it was nowhere near the great album the debut was and by the time 1976 came around bands like Frampton , Kiss , Zeppelin and many other hard rock acts ( including Heart ) we’re all over the airwaves . So short response is yes it finally gets the credit and recognition it deserves it just took some extra time , as in decades lol

Everybody discusses how influential Montrose was, but few mention how critical Bill Church's hyper Bass playing and Denny Carmassi's aggressive drumming were to the sound of this band. They were the reason one guitar was "enough" in this band.

Bands like Montrose, UFO and Y&T, are all in my book, the kinds of bands that are timeless. They're in a different class than the "superbands" of their day. IMHO they're better - They all had top-notch musicians and vocalists - they put out multiple albums that you could listen to end-to-end and never get tired of, and they innovative in a different way than those other bands. To me their music is as fresh and original as the day it was recorded. These guys are the true bedrock of the genre.

MorbidManMusic-Sorry, Bro, but I don't get your meaning. The stuff that you have posted(Sly/Clapton) sounds like we're on the same wavelength. The '60s and '70s is what we have to come back to, to ROCK. The '80s were okay, but Motown was dead and a lot of the bands started looking and sounding the same. More experimentation in the '60s and the '70s(Hendrix, Stooges,Alice Cooper, ect).

But the coolest part is that some of Veleno's guitars had Theremins built into them. This is how Ronnie is getting all those insane spacey sounds!

If you haven't caught the tribute concert for Ronnie you need to, incredible line up, excellent hat tip to one of the greats, that being said, Sammy told the story of how Ronnie looked out for him, got him set up with a trusted publisher to protect his songs, he could have pulled a Gene Simmons or a Sharon Osbourne and steal his songs for his own personal gain, but he didn't, he set him up for a long and successful career, that shows what an awesome person, not just an awesome musician, he was. I was born in 74. Sadly, this is the first ive ever heard this. Exciting to explore some new territory from the past though. I started listening to Hagar on his first Van Halen record when I was 11 or 12. Was instantly my favorite band. I got my first guitar when I was 13, have been playing ever since. Sammy and Van Halen were a big part of my life, now i have this to look back on. Love it. Thanks for sharing!

Part of it is because he was real then, he's real now. He's not trying to measure up to some impossible auto-tuned bullshit album that he recorded. The albums were just a few dudes in a room playing, and that's what it is today, that's part of the reason why it sounds the same.

Sweet. This is the first band I saw live, right at about the time of this video. It was at Winterland, San Francisco. I was fourteen, and a few of my 8th grade friends got one of the dads to drive us out to the city. I don't know why any of our parents consented. We had a blast, though, in awe that we were in Winterland, and finally getting to experience a real rock show! And Montrose was so heavy. What a great, tight band. That first album was a masterpiece of hard rock. Just what young teenage boys thrive on.

Seen Sammy Hagar open for Boston at the Capitol Centre in Largo, MD. in '78,. and let Me just say,.. Sammy BLEW THE FRIGGIN' DOORS!!! off the Cap Centre that night with all their song from the Montrose years.
Then,. Boston comes on sounding like someone put on their Album lol. No Dis against them,. to their credit,. they were simply wrapped that tight.....
BUT!!,... Did I mention?,. that by then,.. Sammy Hagar had already,.. BLEW THE FRIGGIN' DOORS off the Cap Centre. LOL xD
That was My first Concert at 14 years old. Had already been listening to Montrose, who I still to this day believe were before their time in their sound and style. And on that night,.. Sammy Hagar did NOT disappoint.
Boston rocked too,. Great show!.. but was hard to compare the two,.. But the sheer ENERGY Hagar had already blasted the venue with by then,.. left a high bar for Boston to hurdle. LOL

@Thesaurcery4U2C David Gilmour is not a great technical musician but to me has the best combo of vocals and playing combined. He has gifted feel in both areas and Pink Floyd wouldn't have been nearly as great without him despite Waters writing brilliance.

I was just talking about his playing the other day with someone.
      He's great.
It's kind of technical in it's own way.
It's maybe not complicated as some, but it's beautiful and melodic.
He sustains his notes great, and at great times.
It's the silence between the notes that makes the song.
I'm no triumph superfan by no means at all.
I like the same 3 songs as everyone else. Lol.
And I very much prefer Pink Floyd over triumph as a whole.
However 2 of those are straight up anthem songs, which is quite something, as those are rare enough that most all bands never make 1.
My thoughts behind Rik were that if he only sang, you would be luck as hell to get him in your band. He has some high notes, and holds crystal clear notes for lengths that most can't do.
If he only played guitar, your a blessed band to find him, as I imagine he has the ability to play just about anything if you were in a cover band.
And he looks good in a one piece pink leotard. lol.
      ruclips.net/video/gCWj8Nz5DUg/видео.html
A little evidence backing my claims. lol.
