I love the brain dump box so much! I often have ideas when I am on the go or between tasks so a quick way to capture them really helps staying organized and efficient.
This was amazing! I'm new to notion but your tutorial was so easy to follow and well explained. I used your other video too to help build my task list. I think I will also make something similar on my book and shows page for things I want to read and things I want to watch 😁
It is possible for the icon and status properties to be automatically filled in as the check box and not started, respectively, when I add a task using this Brain Dump button? I have a template made that I can click to change the icon and status, but then I still have to open the entire page and click a few extra buttons when the idea for the brain dump is for it to be quick. Any help would be appreciated!
Yes, for sure! My guess is the template you made is not the default template. Click the dropdown arrow on the NEW button and the three dots next to the template you already created. Choose "Set as default". Now whenever you brain dump a task, that default template will automatically apply. Try this out and check back with me to let me know if it worked. Otherwise, we'll do some more troubleshooting!
Im using your Master Task List template and have found it helpful, especially with my ADHD. The problem Im running into when testing this Brain Dump, is each time I try to add a new task I am taken to its individual/entire page, instead of being able to just quickly write the task without any added steps. I’ve followed the tutorial several times but still get the same result. I tried it on the app and online. May that be the problem. Is it more streamline on Desktop?
Yes, I believe the type of device you are using is making a difference. On the desktop, you can just quickly add a task to sort later, but on Mobile, Notion will open the entire page. I hate that they are so different! I’m so glad the Master Task List has been helpful. 🙌🏻
This was quite helpful. Unfortunately, whenever I click on "New Task," it throws up the Side Peak pane. It won't let me type directly into the window. I am testing this on the Desktop app.
Hi! You should be able to expand the side peek to edit the new task page. If you would email a screenshot to admin at kalynbrooke.com, I'm happy to take a peek.
Hi! Can you walk me through how you embed? You may need to put in /linked view of database and select the brain dump database for it to appear on other pages. But there could possibly be a few other reasons why it doesn't show up and maybe we can figure it out. Let me know your process and let's see!
Brilliant! This is the way I like to learn new things - by example, and this was a very good and comprehensive tutorial.
Thank you for the compliment! I'm really glad it was easy for you to follow and that you enjoyed it!

this is just great! this is exactly what i was looking for, thanks so much for sharing!
Wow! I need to watch this a few times, but I love the idea of things moving to the appropriate category.

I am glad to hear that this helped you create things inside your notion! Would love to hear how you continue to grow in your skills!
I really liked this! I am working on this. I had several task lists for different things, now I only need one. Thanks for the video😊❤
You are so welcome!

I’m glad to hear that! 👌🏽
Thanks! I will try it today!
I hope it worked well for you!
@@KalynBrookeCo It did! I just changed the name to "Capture Inbox". I relate better to this term.

I am having trouble embedding the brain dump to different parts of my notion database.

Okay, a precondition to this video is to have a Task List already made in Notion.
Yep! If you're already using notion to manage tasks, this is a quick set up. But if you are new to Notion, you would want to do that first!
