Nice to all this is doable.. I've got a 39 9N I bought from a guy about 7 years ago. The drag links are worn out and someone before me changed out the wheel bearings. They were nice enough to leave chunks of the old bearing in the hub to ruin the threads on the spindle. I've got it double nutted to keep it somewhat tight. But hey , it runs and moves.
Hey Kevin, I love your videos. The only thing I wish is that you show how to do some of the stuff. I know that you mention what you are going to do for the most part but then the camera cuts to the finished product. I am an absolute newbie to these tractors and seeing some of the finer detail would be helpful. Maybe your camera person doesn't want to stick around for it all :). I do appreciate your videos and thanks for doing them!
OK, I understand. I'll try to show some stuff. Unfortunately it can get loooooooooooooooooooooong and boring if i show too much "how to" detail. Thanks for watching!
I personally like the TE20 Ferguson over the 9N and the 2N Fords but I like how ford used a spacer on the front of the axle pivot pin and then recommended washers / shims on the back of the pin to keep the axle pivoting instead of pivoting and a ever so slight wobble…. taking some of the strain off the support arm pivots and front pins and even less stress off all the steering components….. Maybe this was just Henry propaganda but it seems right…..
The Ford only needs that stuff because the radius rods are too flimsy. I have straightened the radius rods on every 8N I have ever owned. I've never had to straighten a Ferguson radius rod.
I imagine you're aware of this but the fan is in its correct position; there's supposed to be a shroud to direct all of the air flow through the radiator. Your solution of moving the fan closer to the radiator is a good work around in lieu of a shroud. IF you can find the correct size spacer!
Couldn't find a shroud for it. My TEA20s have them and the fan is properly positioned on them much closer to the rad than this thing was. The spacer was $20 on Amazon.
I have two 8n tractors. 1950 and 1951. They haven't run in a long while. Do you do work on other people's machines? I also have some parts for Ferguson T20 tractors as well according to name plate information attached. Can you comment? Thanks
This was the best video of Ferguson frontaxel and steering work so far👌. Thank u.
Thanks for your kind words!
Gord is a lucky guy to have you as a neighbour.
I'm the lucky one. I get to stick my hands in a Ferguson!

Lots of bad things can happen to a tractor in 83 years. Glad you keep it going!

@@ClaremontClassicGarage I figured that was the reason. I really enjoy your videos and subscribed. Thanks for the response.
Love those N's and Fergusons!
They always make me smile.

Great video. Makes me want to go work on my TE20
Sounds like a great idea!!!!

Motomaster oils = Shell quality at fantastic prices when they go on sale.
Never done me wrong.
What type of oil did you use in the steering box?
80-90 Gear oil

Mostly just stick to my own stuff and a few friends.
Thanks. I'll pay attention to the posts as they may help with stuff I'll need to do. Where do you source parts? Thanks
