    Looks like water pump cavitation damage to me. if you have the coolant pressure cap, pressure test it and I bet it holds too low a pressure.

    What engine was detonating? A 170, 300 or 325? Im still confused.

      It's the 170 engine . They are high compression.

      @DessiLu14 the manual says 87 Oct fot the 170. Seems weird that it's detonating? I thought it was the 170 but needed confirmation. Thanks
      I wonder why it's detonating when the manual calls for 87 unless you can fine less octane in the USA.

      @MikeZ32TT The manual for my twin turbo Ford Explorer ST calls for 87 octane as well. But I know 93 octane is gonna be safer. 87 octane is only good if you are cruising, not made for full throttle pulls, and especially if this guy was beating the crap out of this motor hitting high rpms and jumping waves while it was bouncing off the Rev limiter Etc

      @mandrakeelmago1770 Ford recommends 91 for best performance but can run on 87 with less performance. Seadoo only says use 87 for the 170.

      Watch to the end! It shows the issues with using 87 when 91 or 93 is needed.

      87 octane is alot more likely to detonate before the spark plug fires than higher octane or alcohol based fuels. When detonation happens there is a huge spike in cylinder pressure which basically pushes all the pressurized oil off the bearing and causes more wear to them

    Interesting things found during disassembly of this Normally Aspirated Engine. Ernesto, I didn't hear you mention the purpose of the Knock Sensor... to identify Detonation and Retard the Ignition Timing when needed thus allowing for Maximum Ignition Timing Advance without Detonation (Stock Engine and ECM). FYI, I felt that the heavy use of special Video effects were a bit "Overboard" on this one!!!

      I agree with you about the knock sensor, however I disagree with you about the video effects. The best part of these effects is the twin and him making people dance. I Always look forward to this.

      @@DZnats I enjoy the video effects a few times throughout the video, I just feel that the tolerable limit had been surpassed this time. I do believe that sometimes two Ernesto's are better than one LOL
