Met Dr. Pat when he came to teach the fermentation portion of our Moonshine U class. We were staying at the Brown for the week. We didn’t know he was as well for the night so we were surprised when he came and joined us at the bar that night. He ordered an old fashioned then looked and saw we were having whiskey, so he stopped the bartender and said “give me some of MY stuff”. Legend.
Wow, what a coincidence. I bought my first bottle of Wilderness Trail today; yellow label. This is also one of my favorite videos you have produced. Getting to know the people behind the spirit really ticks all the boxes for me. Research, hunting, and enjoying the pour is what makes this hobby so interesting and fun!
I waited way too long to watch this one. Great production value and wonderful insight by the team at Wilderness Trail. I think maybe the thumbnail doesn't do the content justice. That's not a knock on you guys! Just want lots if people to see this one!!
Met Chad tonight at a local Big Box store. Very cool to chat with about one of my favorite subjects: Bourbon! And yes, more videos like this, please. The WT Wheated is a favorite of mine.
Love wilderness trail. We picked a rye and a bourbon this summer. They make you feel like one of the family. Super excited to see what comes out of there in the future.
Great interview and video Chad and Sara. I now ignore almost all craft distilleries even the big ones, after tasting too much youth, low complexity and spikey flavor notes in their young bottles. Wilderness Trail is the ONLY craft bourbon I buy. Particularly their Rye. They are the only craft distillery who are serious about product quality. Other than Wilderness Trail, I only (mostly) buy from the legacy distillers. Wilderness Trail is the only craft product I will buy because their product is good enough to compete with the big boys who have much older / richer flavored products than the craft distillers. Keep doing what you’re doing Wilderness Trail! 👍
I am late to the game but, Holy cow! That place is only 2 hours from Knoxville!!!! I will be making weekend trip SOON!!! I just visited Uncle Nearest, and it was a REALLY cool experience. Lots of history between there and Lynchburg. BUT now I gotta go to Danville!!! Thanks for the VID! CHEERS!
I went back to watch this after your most recent video (at the time of this comment), and this is PHENOMENAL! I love the documentary style video. Awesome work! Cheers
I just made a visit to your place today. I was super impressed. Guy behind the bar was super friendly and down to earth. The bourbon were really good but that wheated.... I have a new favorite
Great job on the video. This is a distillery I’m excited about. I have a wheat, 6 yr, 8 yr and a store pick rye. Can’t wait to taste future releases as it ages.
Their yellow label stuff has become one of my "go to" bourbons. Funny to think that I hadn't even heard of them six months ago...a random customer in the liquor store told me about their bourbon and how good it is so I took a chance and bought a bottle on the advice of a perfect stranger! Fast forward to current day...my wife and I toured their facility last week, met Cooper (the official distillery cat), and tasted (and purchased) a LOT of really good whiskeys. Next time I'm out on a bourbon trail excursion (probably this coming April) I will definitely stop by again. Really good people there who make some phenomenal "juice". 😀
Love this video. Just tried Wilderness Trail recently! Is there any other way to buy your Wheat Science bottle rather than online? I’m up in MA and shipping will add $20! I was hoping there was a physical place to buy it. I am coming down to KY in August with a buddy.
Great job, I love Wilderness Trail, there Rye Whiskey is one of my favorites. I have met the guys at the distillery and found them to be down to earth, and very knowledgeable and devoted to the craft.
Good production and content. You both did a great job in the interviews and cutting it all together. I loved visiting that distillery. Thank you for letting me have a look behind the scenes with the brain trust.
Great video! Excellent quality! Can't wait to try Wilderness Trail. Really have to light a fire and become a patron, because we can't get WT up here in Maine. yet. UPDATE: Just became a patron!
Really glad you posted about this as a reminder - this was really cool! I'm excited to pick up a bottle or two to support these people who are doing some unique things.
I recently picked up a cask strength WT Family Reserve wheated with an odd proof point of 108.99. I haven't been able to find much information on this one. Are yall familiar with it?
Great video y'all! Just stunning and informative. Gonna pour a Wilderness Trail now. One thing though, I've noticed some in the online whiskey community (commenters) abbreviating Wilderness Trail "WT". This is problematic because WT has been shorthand for Wild Turkey for more than my lifetime. Gotta a compromise somewhere...
I like their story and their whiskey. I just picked up some of their Small Batch Bourbon BIB at Costco for $34.99. A heck of a good deal for a well made bottle of bourbon these days.
Love Wilderness Trail! Feel like they might of sold themselves for too little. I did the tour and have been enjoying some phenomenal store picks from them. They clearly understand whiskey at a level deeper than the other major players. Hopefully Diageo doesn't screw things up. I can't wait to see what comes next from them!
We can’t link to it directly but you search for Keg N Bottle, then click on Barrel Picks, then click on our logo and you’ll see it. Or follow us on Instagram, @itsbourbonnight and it’s linked in our bio!
This may be the best produced video you guys have ever put together. I'm impressed. I'm only pissed that these American companies making an AMERICAN spirit keep selling out to foreign companies. Boo.
Interesting interview. Wilderness Trail just isn’t my jam. It was the only distillery that I’ve visited that was exceedingly unfriendly when we visited last. Must be doing something right though - I just don’t get it.
Fantastic! Great video and great bourbon. But seriously one of the ugliest bottles on the shelf. I hope with the acquisition we will get a label redesign.
I love how Bourbon is exclusively American, yet these sellout distilleries sell to non-American companies. So, Wilderness Trail is not American. It's Italian. So, I guess they're actually distilling wine, just like wild turkey.
Wow you guys have an amazing talent in video production. Seriously impressive and 100% good enough to be on a Netflix special or something
Thank you!!
Oh wow did you guys actually make this video?!? If so I’m very impressed!
@@TheMrChaddles We sure did! Thank you!

Wilderness Trails…one of my favorites. I have a 6 year bottle signed by Dr. Pat Heist
I waited way too long to watch this one. Great production value and wonderful insight by the team at Wilderness Trail. I think maybe the thumbnail doesn't do the content justice. That's not a knock on you guys! Just want lots if people to see this one!!

Excellent production, top notch. I appreciate that you both expand beyond just Whiskey Reviews.
Great to see information on distilleries. More please. Great channel.
Ordered my bottle before I even finished watching this video !!!
Just tried their Wilderness Trail wheated bourbon, and I must say it’s delicious. Will definitely be keeping some on hand.
Hello I’m from the uk and wilderness Trail is my favourite bourbon by miles. Great video

Campari has a very Good Distribution over here in Europe

One of my favorite videos on your channel. What a great group of people at Wilderness Trail!
Excellent editing, videography and story. Very well done!
Thank you very much!
Great video!! I bought my first bottle in 2018 when they very first made it to Tennessee. Love it.
Great job on the video. This is a distillery I’m excited about. I have a wheat, 6 yr, 8 yr and a store pick rye. Can’t wait to taste future releases as it ages.

I really enjoyed this video. I certainly hope for many others similar to this type in the future. Education is the key to understand the process.
I love longform videos. I know they're more time consuming to produce but you all did a great job!
Great content! Thanks for putting the work in on this series, truly top quality!!!
Thank you, that means a lot!
More of these please!
This was great guys....Thanks! As the yellow label is one of my fave bottles...period...ordering post haste!

Thank you for the video and always sharing information with us
Great show and interview.. thank you.
Very professional video they could literally just use this for an intro to their tours.
Great video. Inspiring story!
One of, if not the best video's ever. Love this content.
Thank you!!
Awesome video! I hope to see more of these!
I love what Wilderness Trail is doing. I’ve got a few of their products. Great and informative video, thanks!

Great video! You can really tell how much time and effort went into this video.
Awesome job guys! I really enjoyed watching.
Well done.
Very nice! Please do more videos like this!
Terrific video. I love WT and have been there twice--great folks, great whiskey.
Wow Chad! Awesome job here, been watching from really near the beginning and this is top 3 production value and content as well.
Wow, thanks!!

Wilderness Trace 😉 Had the pleasure of being there last week. Did you guys get to meet Cooper ? He helped escort us around 😀 Loves a scratch !!
Yep!!
Finally, science I can trust.
Good to hear that "help is on the way" at WT.. I'm a big fan but finding it has become a challenge ! Great Vid Chad and Lisa
Outstanding video. Cheers
Thank you!
Very well done!
Very well done. Wow!!!
WT is legit! Some of the best juice out on the market. I actually have a bevmo store pick which I haven't opened. Might open it up for my bday.
Pat H is the man! Such a good guy
Great job with this!
Thank you!
Very interesting!

Thanks! And we’ve heard it from the horses mouth that they abbreviate WTD for Wilderness Trail Distillery.
OMG that was great.
Check out the video production chops on you guys! Great mini documentary. Can't wait to get my 'Wheat Science' pick - cheers!
Thanks! And enjoy the pick 😀

@@GrnEyez64 Agreed!
This was amazing! My two favorite bourbons owned by Campari WT & WT ! My best kept secret is out.
Such an underrated brand right now... WT is in my Top 5 bourbons
Nice content!! It was a great stop there a few weeks ago and even though I picked up 44 bottles I still had to order your blend pick this week😅
😁

Great video. Very cool look at WT. Although, I've only tried a couple of WT, and it just hasn't been my favorite.

Y’all wouldn’t happen to have more of your Barrel select, would you? I didn’t see any more on keg n bottle 😔
Unfortunately no, they sold out.
and then they sold majority stake to an italian company, I wonder if we will get some matthew mcconaughy commercials for them too
This may be the best produced video you guys have ever put together. I'm impressed. I'm only pissed that these American companies making an AMERICAN spirit keep selling out to foreign companies. Boo.
Best bottle to start the Wilderness Trail journey?
We would go with the bottle that started it all, their Bottled In Bond wheated Bourbon.
Never had Wilderness Trail before, will try after this. This made me want to drink straight from the bunghole. Wait what
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
Still haven't found an 8 year around Chattanooga
The 8 year has dried up around our area, too.
Interesting interview. Wilderness Trail just isn’t my jam. It was the only distillery that I’ve visited that was exceedingly unfriendly when we visited last. Must be doing something right though - I just don’t get it.
