Hello Otis, I made a few other videos that explained how I was drilling the well and why I was drilling it the way o was. But in a nutshell shell I drilled the hole using 4” sch 40 pipe as my drill pipe with the screen on bottom. I show in a video how I was able to drill with the screen on the end and open it up to allow water to flow in at the completion of the well. The tricone bit was a sacrificial bit that I left on the bottom of the well. As far as inspection of the bit I would have never damaged it with my set up.

Could you possibly describe what you used for a seal around the top of the first rubber reducer through which the main drill shaft passes to make up the rotary joint?

What kind of drill pipe are you using. Is it just galvanized irrigation pipe or is it regular drill stem. Why are you using a casing over the drill pipe/stem. Is your tricone sealed bearing or open bearing. How often do you remove the drill bit to clean and inspect it. My name is Otis and I am going considered doing what you are doing or have done, being that this video is older now. How much did you invest initially to do your drilling, before you made your portable rig ??? I am seeking information. I thank you in advance for all that you have provided already.

Do you have an update? Show us how far down you drilled, pump size, water quality, flow rate etc.

Finally i know what i want to do when I grow up. I'm impressed that is a fine rig your working with sir, i appreciate the content. I'm gonna go back and watch your previous uploads as i am interested in learning more about your process. Especially keen to find out whats on the cutting end. Do you happen to recall giving a peak at your drill head bit in any of your previous videos? Thanks again.

Lol! I’m glad I could inspire. Yes I did show the bit and even built a bit that only drilled just a little bit. That is the whole fun of it I guess trying a thought. I plan on purchasing a bit on e-bay that will drill a lot faster. I hope you enjoy and most of I hope you drill a hole in the ground.

Can you please suggest the bit you plan on getting from eBay? Thanks

@@georgep.8478 I’m going with a friction bit. Like one you can get off E-bay. The roller cone bit Needs weight and lots of it. It is a crushing bit for drilling through the tuffest rocks and pyrites. I’m thinking of making the rig 25’ to handle 20’ PVC pipe. I have not decided yet. It will certainly make things more complicated. Another well is coming soon.

Thanks for the response. Trying to dig a well myself. I can't wait to see your next video and hopefully learn from your experience.

I’m really into your rig! But my question is how does the head cap not twist on the 4” pipe as it turns? And do you put it all back out to get your bit back after putting all that 4” pipe in the ground?

It’s a swivel that I built and it is fastened to the auger. Where the inlet pipe comes out. No I did not pull it out to get the bit. My next well I drill I will pull it out. Hopefully this fall. Won’t do that again in the summer. 😂

Great video I want to try this. Would you suggest I build a bit or purchase one from eBay?
