I always enjoy your videos, but this one was special. Great to see your son with you and seeing his enjoying spending time with you at your passion for wildlife. His success in capturing some good images also reminds us that the big camera bodies and lenses, while wonderful, are not always necessary for capturing memorable images. Happy Fathers' Day!

Steve, love the channel. This one was really fun with your son. I’m a 62 year old woman, and I still have such fond memories of getting up at the crack of dawn on the weekends to go to “work” with my dad. He worked construction and I picked up scrap. I guess the point is the memories that you are making with him will last even after you’re gone and are really more special than you might think!

Solid day in the woods Steve! Glad your son found his phone and great for you to showcase how it all works. I believe Android has the same feature. I urge everyone who wanders in the woods to know how those systems work to find your phone. I've found 3 phones deep in the woods including my 2 week old phone sitting on the edge of a bootprint over icy water after photographing a great grey owl. We found2 of them in the night. Very solid systems!

Enjoy these moments with your son Steve. Reminds me of when our son was Sig's age and would tag along for some early morning adventures. He also had a Lumix while I was shooting my Nikon. Time goes fast as he is now a married man.

Have you gone up to Yellowstone at Slough Creek for the Great Horned Owl? To easy for a video but was awesome to see when I was there this past week. Also tons of bears out and about. Loved seeing this video with Sigmund. Love seeing you passing on your passion to the next generation.

Great video! Good to see someone else out there with their child taking photos and exploring the great outdoors! My son saw Sig and was reminded of one of his friends. I think they must be pretty close in age. Tell Sig he takes great photos for me, he did a good job capturing all those photos!

Thanks for taking us along on this outing with you and your son. Couldn't help but notice how young people today seem to prefer using the screen to the viewfinder. When I retired from newspaper photography I had to give up my full-frame company gear and was left with a Canon SX60 and Leica V-Lux 114 bridge cameras that that helped me shoot videos for the paper and even all my still coverage of daytime festivals. These are the cameras that allowed me to get into wildlife photography as a hobby. I shoots MFT now but often wondered what you would have thought if I showed up for one of your clinics with a couple of bridge cameras. If you had to go out with just Sig's camera can you think of any settings Sig wasn't using that might have boosted the quality of his images or video or was this video also a good example of the quality between the two camera sensor sizes?
We were out there to have a great time, not to optimize image quality. And yes, the camera is capable of higher quality.

We are not allowed to take clients into the backcountry. But there’s lots to explore in the front country.
