. I was bringing my nephew and his friends to a lot of Nets games before and during this time. The Nets had a lot of talent, i thought they would go a lot farther. Marbury was the most agile basketball player i have ever seen in person. The Nets were not in fashion at the time so they would have specials- student tickets were about $5.00 bucks. A bunch of young men, piled into the car and got to watch some excellent ball. -Joseph

NBA commentators were saying after Marburys second season that he was the better talent then Allen Iverson and Ray Allen. I just think stability hurt Marbury's career. Getting traded around a couple times and going through coach after coach really made it difficult for him to settle down.

He needed to be paired with another perimeter player that could run the show so he could just focus on scoring. Either that or he should've never left playing with a big man like Garnett. He would've got rings.
Stephen had hops. not on the level of rose but he could get up when needed. videos of the alleys he caught and a windmill he threw down was nasty when he was still playing with the nets.
But most people who talk about athletic ability don't recognize that some people who can't jump as high to dunk can actually jump exceptionally high as they shoot. Because when you jump to shoot you have to be symmetric in your jump so you don't throw off the shot. So it's a difference between total power (for dunking) and a symmetric jump for shooting. That's just what I've observed from playing the sport idk if its right. Also Rose has more standing vertical reach than Marbury if I'm not mistaken
David Falk represented Marbury during the trade demand. And Timberwolves G.M. Kevin Mchale, didn't think Marbury would make good on a threat to leave to the then terrible Chicago Bulls. Who had the cap space to sign Marbury in the Off-season, but would only be able to offer the max of 56 million. Mchale reportedly wanted to call Marbury/Falk's bluff, but after losing Tom Gugliotta through free agency owner Glen Taylor wouldn't let Mchale do it.
I know it was Marbury's doing, He won't admit it publicly but weeks after the trade to the Nets he called some former Timberwolves teammates and coach's expressing regret over the trade. He may have scored 50 points in this game but his high shooting attempts did not win him any fans from his teammates. Marbury was playing the right way in his first two seasons with the Timber-wolves. Scoring but also getting his teammates involved he seemed to forget this at the Nets.
Name a SG in the 2000s that could defend better than Kobe while still being responsible for a huge scoring load on offense? Funny how y'all hated Kobe up until he died.

NickB33 that was one of only 16 games he played w/ Martin and Van Horn on the floor together because they were always injured. Other than that, Evan Eshmeyer and Jamie Feick were his starters. Bad assessment on your part
