    I built my 1971 Nova to be the perfect sleeper car. No badging whatsoever, standard hood, bench seat, Muncie 4 speed. LS6-454, no tubs, 215/60/15 tires, exhaust behind the rear wheels, and a beautiful 3 stage red pearl paint job. At first glance, you would think it was a very nice small block Nova. I am glad to read others that like the simple sleeper look.

      Yeah. If you think about it, a Chevelle is never a sleeper, no matter what trim package it’s in. A Nova, on the other hand, almost always is…

    finally a interior that isn't black (too hot in summer & shows dust like a fog) on a early muscle car, like this color combo a lot; like that vette style hood too! All it needs now is an Edelbrock intake, headers & it will really rock!

    I desperately want a '67 Chevy II (Nova) outfitted much like this one, maybe even a four door or wagon. I'd probably have to go over to the LS/6-speed dark side on account of weight and wanting the car to handle, but I love the plain-Jane white, no frills build. Awesome. Damn, what a cam for a 'sleeper', though, haha!

    I had one of these that came with a 396 and put a 427 and an M22 (a real one) in it and a posi. It was candy apple red with a black vinal top and a cowl induction hood and 50 series tires on the back and 70 series bias ply tires on on the front all mounted on Crager mags. It was a fun car. This video brought back some memories. :-)

    I was a kid when GM wedged those Big Blocks in those little cars. My 383 Magnum Roadrunner did NOT want to race these little sleepers. For every "sleeper" there were 10 cars with straight six cylinder engines with Mags and Fat Tires. I have been a "car guy" since my uncle took me to Lion's Drag Strip in southern California in 1968 when I was about 12 years old. The old "Muscle Car" days were fun. A kid like me in the mid-70's could build a FAST car for about $3 Grand. Now you need $50 Grand to buy anything that will get any respect.

    • @70stunes71
      @70stunes71 5 лет назад +2

      Yeah exactly . sure miss the 70s. Cheap cars cheap gas, the street scene was a lot of fun. If young people today could see how we grew up and the free spirit that existed back then... They'd get pretty pissed about how things are today. And we wrenched our own cars also. Every Nut and Bolt we worked on whatever we had to. And worked our asses off to have the money to go out and play with them, or attend the drag strips. Frightening how quickly this country is changing to a very bad path coming.

    • @truthseekerKJV
      @truthseekerKJV 4 года назад +1

      What's even worse than that is back in the 70's you could buy a house for 30 grand that was brand new. That same house is now 50 years old and worn out but is worth over half a million in states like California.

    A buddy of mine had a new '68 Nova with 396-375 H.P. and M-22 Rock Crusher. He burned the original tires off the first weekend he had the car. His dad bought him some DOT cheater slicks helping him with traction. He loved to try to pick street races which I got into one time. We were even until I hit a dip and rise in the road and went air born. I backed off and he went around me. I did not want to crash my new '69 Corvette. Thanks for the great memories and videos.

      +RamblinAround , I'm building a 69 Nova with a 396 small block. The big blocks are good but these small blocks have the torque of the rats but twist up much quicker.

      I have had a lot of big blocks and plenty of small blocks. I currently have a 1934 Chevrolet 3 Window Coupe with a 396 SBC. It has aluminum heads and roller set up with a steal crank. The engine makes over 550 hp and torque. I am well pleased with how well it performs in my light car.

    I love it. Really straight body just like factory fresh. And a 454 four speed it don't get any better. It takes me way back in time too. The video was nice because of the neat pan shots close up and moving around or across it makes me like i was there almost. Very clear focus so nice. I guess the camera dolly helps keep the focus so good. Great video.

    Looks like a sleeper, interiors like grandma's. Give away, four speed on floor, Hurst badge on rear deck, & 396 fender badge. I'd make minor changes, change the 396 to a 307 badge, remove the Hurst badge, tint the windows enough not to see the 4 speed, & last, add a pair of headers. Then, the ultimate sleeper.......until, you cranked up that engine.

      You can add 70 to that list. Bought it new. Mine was a SS 396/375 but in less than a year changed it to a 427 punched out to 440 with ALL of the best add on's. dino'd over 600 hp. Ran 10 sec. qtr's at 135mph. Drove on street. Only draw back was high compression required Sunoco 260 not to knock and got about 4 miles per gallon. But back then gas was cheap. . Wish I still had it.

    Nice 68, not a true SS. 68"s had clear front fender marker lights, lower front fender Super Sport emblems and blacked out front grill, rear SS emblems as well. I own a real one and have only seen five original Super Sports since 1979.

      I STILL have my 1968 Chevy II Nova with the 153 c.i. engine. There is a company (Clifford Research) that can help you build POWER into that engine. Mine is one of 1270 built.

      I think for the same price you could choose either the 4 or 6 cylinder engine. I have heard the L4 called a "poor man's Offenhauser".

    Big engine is beautiful. look at the space to work on the engine. You can't even name the parts in modern cars. Too many damn hoses + ERG crap.

      That is exactly why I'm looking to sell my Iroc with a 305 TPI w/5spd. Fun car, goes good but whenever something breaks or needs to be fixed ya gotta work around every fucking vacuum-hose and electronic shit.
