My grandfather was an engineer/test driver/tech writer. He worked for Chrysler during ww2 and drove tanks on the proving grounds. Most of his career, he worked for Chevrolet, retiring in the late 70's. He told me that a 1969 4 speed manual 396 Nova was the strongest car he ever tested. Ever.
I ordered a 1969 nova in 69 new from Parklane chev. In sarnia ontario , it was a special order 327/325 hp.with a muncie 4 speed and 12 bolt rear end , can't remember the price . Wish I had it today !
Just an FYI, this does not have the M22 “rock crusher” trans. Look at the option sheet at the end of the video and box 3 clearly shows M20 which is the standard, wide-ratio 4-speed trans.
He did not say it was an M22 or an M21 however the option sheet shown at the end of the video clearly shows M20 in box number 3 on the second line. That is the regular-duty, wide-ratio 4-speed, not an M21 close-ratio 4-speed or the M22 heavy-duty, wide-ratio 4-speed. Does this car have an M22 in it now? I don’t know but if it does, it’s not original.
@@ironhorse127 Agree to disagree. The M22 is very rare and desired so don’t you think if it was an M22 they would have clearly mentioned it in the video or listed it in the description? There’s no way to know for sure by just watching and listening to this video. It could just as easily be a gear drive cam timing set.
$65,000! Thats a really beautiful car. I'm in the process of restoring my 69 nova that was hit 22years ago. Going to do a Yenko clone in the same Garnet red paint. Whoever painted that car did a really nice job. 👍

The mileage that you have listed for some of your cars and trucks is incorrect. On American cars with a 5-digit odometer when the last digit sets higher than the others that indicates it has been rolled at least once. For example, the 1972 Ford F100 Ranger would have at least 137256 miles, not 37256.
@@kevinbender1754Steve is correct. In-dash tach was optional. To get it you had to have the floor console because the tach replaced the fuel gauge in the dash so the fuel gauge was moved to the console. To get the floor console you had to have bucket seats. So any Nova with a bench could not get the optional gauge package with the in-dash tach.
Not all aftermarket tachs drop to zero when shut off. I want to know why the brake light in the dash behind the tach is on during the drive. Brake system problem or is the parking brake on?

Gramps was a smart guy 👍
Nice legacy your gpa left behind. A Chevy guy most of his life. Awesome
When it comes to muscle cars most folks want mustang, vet or Chevelle. I myself have always loved 69-70 novas.
Nothing better than a 396 when built right. Sounds awesome.
100% agree. Big block Chevys forever.
You can't beat this specific look on this generation of Nova. Stunning.
Fun fact: the “375hp” 396 was wrote that way on paper for insurance reasons. In actuality on a dyno it laid down a solid 400+.
Bought my ‘70 Nova in October, ‘69. 350/300hp. Paid $3100, out the door!
WOW!! Love that color. Wish I still had my '70, 350 SS Nova.
Had a Blue 69 NOVA 396-L78 4 speed back in early 70’s. Put 2 1/8 inch Hooker headers on it and swapped the stock 3:55 rear for a 4:10. Fun ride.
burn out machine !
i have 71 with a 454 in in it and it's a beast
Novas were light. A Nova with the 375 horse 396 is a bad ass combination.
I have one if these Nova’s. Their weak point is narrow rear wheel wells and small tires. Mine is mini tubbed so that solved that problem.
Very beautiful car! 👍
Man I wish she was mine.
I'm 15 and I'm already trying to raise money for this car.

During the drive, why is the BRAKE light illuminated red behind the tach? Brake problem or was the parking brake left on?
Nice
Spare tire needs period correct Firestone or Goodyear white lettered tire. Also needs to be in the correct location in the trunk

Camaros, Chevelles and 'Vettes were for jocks, Novas were for motörhead's.

Absolutely, if it was a proper #'s car Maybe 45K. These are not a high demand car. Plus the market is so stinking flooded with rigs right now.
