Does more air really pass through these? I have a 9yr old ds3 on 96k and just want to help the engine to 'take it easy' so thinking the more air it brings in the easier it works. Performance isn't an issue so extra torque or HP is a bonus but efficiency is what I'm after
They are oiled foam filters but they also do dry foam filters aswell. If the filter comes pre oiled then at service time after washing it must be oiled again before reinstalling, otherwise the filter won't filter properly. As for the oil on the maf thing, i ran a 210 bhp 1.8T golf running at 15 psi of boost and i never had oil getting on the maf, and inside the cone filter was clean.
@@protonicstorm7228 fantastic answer! Oil was found to affect some AFM Hot wires, which is generally where the "oil ruins maf's" thing came from. However once we found out what was going on we switched those specific filters to dry only :)
As explained in a comment below, Oil reacted with certain AFM Hotwire systems, those filter were switched over to dry filters only, With regards to degrading, as long as the filter is properly looked after this shouldnt be a problem :) We've seen plenty of filters over 20 years old still going strong
Where is the cleaning video? You don't have that on your channel

Oil in the Foam? Did I hear that right? Does you not say the filters without oiling?
