- Compared to US dollars and US home prices, yes, this is affordable. And the property tax? A fraction of the US.
An updated and affordable chateau for sale in the Limousin region of France. Located about an hour east of Limoges. This one appears to be good for a bed and breakfast or a nice large family home.
Professionally listed by Leggett Immoblier. Reference #A22061JNK23.
I am so glad someone has started a channel devoted to the possibility of actually helping an American find a chateau! Gorgeous historical homes ❤Thank you for doing this it’s a brilliant idea!! Hunting lodge just means a fancy cabin lol! 😂 people just don’t appreciate how much work and beautiful detail went into some of these homes!
Awh, you're so kind. Thank you!!
Yes.... Hunting lodge is pretty generous, haha! :)
I stayed in a hunting lodge last summer, and it was as impressive if not more so than the chateaux I stayed in. This is lovely...and remote. Maybe you can contact the agents in the future to get additional photos. It does seem crazy to not include the spiral staircase!
Ooh that sounds lovely! Where was this hunting lodge that you stayed at?
It's not a bad idea for me to start requesting even more info and images. I will give that a try! Thank you!
There are more than 45 000 castles in France each year more than 1500 of them are on the market You Can buy a french castle 30 rooms with huge private garden for the same price of a casual 3 bedrooms flat in central London or New York or Hollywood so do not hesitate foreigners buy them transform these castles intro luxury B and B for wedding and private party etc
Absolutely! France is loaded with gorgeous architecture and beautiful landscape. The draw to want to buy and live in such a lovely place is legitimate!
Beautiful and thank you!
Thank you!
This is amazing! The price is just fantastic, and the taxes, wow, how much cheaper than we pay in NYS. We are paying a little less than 'double' what this is for a Meduim sized brick home within a village, with backyard and front and driveway, and a porch, so what a savings by itself!
Great just as family home but could be a 'Bed and breakfast ' easily. (Depending on size of your family, of course) So many things can be done here, but this would be such a lovely Chateau for most anyone. Certainly, is in a lovely area with grand scenery.
I suppose as things had changed and Chapels were not used like before however one could have a priest come to do a whole mass for you in your home, or just do prayers and communion, even, so they changed it into a bedroom and bathroom but it is elegant this way as well. Just thinking it could be nice to have a Chape. If you build on outside your taxes would probably go up so the inside is et bet. But a person could have a 'corner chape;" an area designated just for this purpose and with bibles and any other items as icons or whatever you could like even the coloring of a Chaple in at one area and a few chairs for family and perhaps friends to come and just relax, pray and maybe even sing especially at Christmas a few Christmas Carol's? A place that is in the Chateau and a person could remember the blessings they have with a Chapel Corner, (Or a side of room) like this one to spend all your days! Thank you for showing this fantastic Chateau! Could not imagine this one not moving quickly! hard to be quick enough for most, I would think? If anyone just had this kind of money, can you imagine just buying it up that quickly? Not really much work to do just things you may 'prefer done' but not a necessity, to be done immediately.
It's so fun to think about all the possibilities with this particular place! It's amazing to think how long it's been there and the history and stories it could tell. And yes... Gah.... More affordable than in the US! Very different, indeed! :)
Thank you ❤ can you please share a little more about the area or region the chateau are located in 😊 like the liveability so we can learn a little more about each town, I would be most grateful thank you ❤❤
Yes, I sure will! It's amazing that there are so many towns and Sweet places to live. I visited so many trying to find something that made one better than the other, but I've decided that they're all just pretty darn good lol. At least from a surface examination! 🙂
But I sure will, thank you for the feedback!
Hi!
I am enjoying your vlogs.
What are your first names?
There are most likely people watching who are not American. So it would be helpful to include square metres as well as square feet for the house or room sizes. And hectares as well as acres.
Greetings from Australia.
Thanks! Yeah....gah, I wasn't sure anyone would care about us at first. Now it's awkward and I should 🤣. I'm working on an intro video now. Thank you!!
Thank you for this presentation of this great home. Do you happen to have the link to the listing?
Here you go!

Taxes $1700 dollars? Agh. I pay almost that for a 1 bedroom condo in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.
Isn't it crazy?? Quite a difference. Can't believe it!
I bet you don’t pay 11,000 to 15,000 a year to heat your place which is what it costs for this place.
@@billieford9683 I don't think I'd like to pay that much for heat at all!
Honestly, to heat my home to a comfortable level, it's $500 per month October to March.... I'm not happy about that cost either!
I paid more than 7 thousand for my house in Miami, and it's just a regular house...
@@LetsBuyAChateau True, that is same for me,
I feel mine is really too much. But like to be warm,
But guess with a Chateau you can close some rooms off, if you wanted during the Winter months, if not using them, Wood stoves and fireplaces help to heat the other rooms you are in. Guess that is how it was done in older times?
Como propetario de algunas casas tanto de estilo ingles como frances me encanta la idea de algun dia tener mi propio Chateau soy de Argentina y me gustaria saber si es posible la adquisición de este tipo de inmuebles a extrangeros !!!
🙌
Why is it called a chateau? Looks more like a maison de maître
It could be. According to the data provided to the listing agent, it's a chateau. 🤷♀️
Petit chateau, perhaps?
How much?
Does it come w the furnishings?
Sorry, it does not. Most sellers even take the light fixtures out! You're lucky if you even get kitchen cabinets and appliances.... They tend to take it all!
If I hit the Lotto that's where I'm retiring.
That'd be alright!
Does it come furnished?
The listing from the agent does not say that it comes furnished. Usually the personal property goes.... often times even taking chandeliers with them!
No lo vendería.
This house has been sold recently
I don’t find chateaus adorable and not even this one. Dark cold and smelly.
I do hear pretty often that they're cold -- it's hard when you don't have central heating!
Looks like a maison du metre rather than a château.
It is Small compared to some! The deed determines what the property can actually be called. In this case, it says chateau according to the listing agent. Certainly a manageable property 🙂
Do you pay races when you buy a house. I think it’s called stamp duty and I’m not sure it it’s much. I can’t remember paying anything on my house. I’m in New Zealand
There is a lot of info on-line on stamp duty fees in France [it's known as The Droit de Mutation]. The older the house the less the fee. I reckon this type of house in the Cruse area would be about 5.8% ish.
It's not a castle! It's a manor.
Thanks for watching.
that's pretty nice for a small little "hunting lodge" :)
A cottage, basically lol.... ;)
Price
Sadly, this was has been snatched up! It was in the 400,000 range... Listed around 430k-ish.
Does anyone question why so many chateau's are for sale? Very interesting....
demographics
Not everyone is up to the task!
This is the kind of Chateau I can buy, love, and can afford.
Precisely!! :) It's a great find!
It was $399,000 a few years ago.
Eeeesh! Talk about inflation, lol.
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for posting this video, it's a beautiful property.
Glad you enjoyed it
