Some rooms seem to be already altered towards more modern (original floors gone). @LetsBuyAChateau Hi from Washington! Perhaps you are concerned about critters getting inside? You may be able to create a simple little screen that would fit over the openings? Also from other Chateau videos I follow, it seems there's not nearly the bugs and pests in France than I've seen in Minnesota! If that's any small comfort!!! Also so many of those beautiful old stone buildings do have mold problems especially when someone has unwisely used cement on the walls instead of the necessary lime mortar that enables them to "breathe". The cement traps moisture inside and will eventually destroy the walls breaking down the mortar between the stones, and even bricks into just a sandy substance and the stones and rocks begin to fall, and floor beams rot. So sad! So if possible, the vents are a wise thing to keep to prevent moisture build up! And the molds can be extremely hazardous to one's health creating a host of issues. Congratulations in your new home! Hope it all comes together well for you and your family!

Maybe you should investigate why the windows might be vented before removing them. You aren't in a gated community in a house built yesterday anymore. The vents might serve a practical purpose.
I tried to Google and couldn't find an answer. But other comments have told me it's for air flow. Some think to avoid damp? I will leave the windows of course, but will investigate a way to not have holes. I just can't fathom that!
The thing above the window is a vent, very common, normally they can be closed. You have a lot of challenges ahead, I look forward to following your progress
Yes, soon. I plan to release a tour of the main living spaces on the main floor and upstairs this weekend. There's so much to have to break it up... I'll do one of the gardens and stuff outside. I’ll keep watching!☺️☀️👍 Oh! I saw you translated-good job!
Oh my gosh, I eventually thought, duh look at Google translate! 🤣🤣🤣 So far my kids are pretty happy with it. They're honestly kind of excited to try something new. It's something that we've talked about as a family for a while. But I'm sure it'll be tough to leave their friends once the school year is over and we make the full-time move..... Actually we are neighbors! We live in Nebraska right now🙂. We've previously lived in Minnesota as well. That's actually where I grew up. I think it's amazing that you're living with your son and living life on the farm. There's something about slowing down and enjoying peace... That's kind of why we're doing this move.

A château by definition means castle, build to defend a city or village, fortified castle, they were not habitations, but often the kings visited those places for hunting and some good time in the countryside, kings lived in Palace, the château started to be decorated and build for seigneur of lands, it could be a king, prince, nobles or simply seigneur or lords in english, so it is probable that your house could have been "part" of a château, but in france even the bourgeoisie had big mansions, you didn't need to be a seigneur to build a manor in france, doctors, the courts staff and even mistresses had château, as for the emblems RT it can be anything, the french did it for centuries...even in the most humble house you will find initial of the people that lived there, its a european thing😊. Technically seeing your home i can say it was not a seigneur house, the buildings around u are old and a seigneur would not live close to the peasants, you live in a small town or village and those habitations probably exist before you house was build😅but it is probably a home of an important figure at some point,it could be a Bishop,a general, tax collector.... Maison de Maitre means simply a bourgeois house, a house that belonged to a notable not a seigneur.
So nic to have your move to France to move along and you have a wonderful Chateau. I think you needed one of thoe machiens you use to blow up tents and other thigns and it would probbly by much faster na less taxing. LOL Not sure what they call it ,but it blows things up quickly for you. the "foot pump wasnice, but just harder I think? Takes time to get a Chateau going but you have one with great potential and a lovely home with time to work on it s you are youngand your children are at a perfect age to do this. They do seem exited. A litle hard now, but think it wil be great with time. Just how you want it. You had comfortable places to sleep, and sort of fun I think!
Thanks so much! They are excited.. would be more when we have places to sit down and proper furniture! When we got those mattresses, we couldn't find a pump in the store! We looked.... Ah well, we made do for the moment 😃

Hi! Oh this was shot literally last week! I Yankee the kids out of school for a week to go to France. I figured sometimes travel is a good education. Also, they caught up on their homework when we got back 🙃. We're not living there full-time yet. But it is the plan. We're taking it slow so that we don't get overwhelmed or unprepared.
A little slower on the camera. Hold the camera up more as you walk, not always on the floor. There's a lot to creating a good vlog. Good luck in your new home.

I think they are from the midwest of America since she didn’t know what a hibiscus looked like and called the lavender “overgrown bushes”. It will be a learning curve. Beautiful, curated vlogs and steady camera work take a little time to figure out. I wish them all the success in the world. 🎉

I will leave the windows of course, but will investigate a way to not have holes. I just can't fathom that!
@@LetsBuyAChateauremember it’s not the US! Houses are not vacuums. Google trickle vents. Houses need to breathe and you need air flow
Yep, I'll find a solution to make sure it's all good! Have to admit, it was a shock! @@loubudgets5992
Congratulations 🎉 🍾🥂✨
Thank you so much 😀
The thing above the window is a vent, very common, normally they can be closed. You have a lot of challenges ahead, I look forward to following your progress
Cool, thanks!! I appreciate it so much!
Beethoven ;) welcome in France
Ha! Thanks! I finally googled him and got that result. Now I wonder what I should do with him! 😜
Congratulations
Thank you so much! You're so sweet.
Thank you so much! You're so sweet!
Chateau’s can be tiny,it depends on royalty and if they stopped in it.
Maison de maitre is wealthy owners
I have some history to investigate! Looking forward to it.
the bust looks like Beethoven
I think you're right. Now to decide what to do with him? 🤔
I’m so glad you popped up, congratulations on your beautiful château Manor house. Are you going to give us the grand tour? 🌼
Yes, soon. I plan to release a tour of the main living spaces on the main floor and upstairs this weekend.
There's so much to have to break it up... I'll do one of the gardens and stuff outside. And then we actually have two independent apartments that I'll tour. I even found rooms I didn't even know were there! It was fun to wander around 🙂 I will be showing it all.
Pour apprendre l histoire du lieu, il faut aller aux archives départementales qui vous aideront à remonter dans le temps 😊
Je vais y aller! 😃
Get an app that translates for you-on your phone! You can even talk to it. Usually instructions have multiple languages? Maybe not en français! 😉 Am very curious how your children are liking it. This is my first time watching you so curious where you’re from, why you moved, what kind of job your husband has so he could move away, etc. I once lived in England with my family and adored every second of it!!!
I’ll keep watching!☺️☀️👍
Oh! I saw you translated-good job!
Oh my gosh, I eventually thought, duh look at Google translate! 🤣🤣🤣
So far my kids are pretty happy with it.
Congratulations! I can't wait to see what you do with colors and decor. I subscribed after watching just one of the earlier vids and then binge-watched until I caught up.
If you change the name you may lose some viewers but from some of the nasty and unkind comments that wouldn't be a bad thing if THEY dropped off!! We that are interested will follow you to whatever you call it and it will grow. Don't let the ugly comments get to you!
Awh, you are so sweet! Meh, there are always keyboard warriors who say mean things. I agree, they can drop off haha... I have to assume they lead sad lives and don't like to see other people be happy.
Thanks for your support! I will have a tour going love Saturday and then there's so many other pieces of video -- more fun stuff to come.
I have been looking and looking trying to find some sort of History. It dates back to the 16th century so there's got to be mention somewhere 🤷♀️.
I’m excited to see what you do to your new place.
Thanks so much! I am pretty anxious to repaint those very brightly colored walls upstairs.... For starters 🙂
@@LetsBuyAChateau, great idea. Those colors really don’t fit in your beautiful place. Do you know what year it was built?
Hi . I am new to the channel . Please please. Will you do a full tour of the Maison .the vents so the house get air flow so you don’t get mold . Where are you from ?
Our best guess is 1567! We will definitely do some digging once we're out there full time.@@jenniferjones3408
@@normafeatherstone8097hello and welcome! Thank you for watching. I do appreciate it!
Yes, I will be releasing a video this weekend that will give a nice tour of all of our living space in the main house.
Then I will do tours of our garden, and also separate apartments that came with the property. There's a lot to see!
Oh those vents, I am not a fan! We'll have to figure out what to do about that... 😮
We are from the United States, currently living in Nebraska.
Congratulations! How exciting that is. It looks so different now. We definitely need a tour of the whole property before you guys start the decorating. Do you know when you guys will be moving over permanently yet?
I will be posting a video tour of our main living space this weekend. And tours of the rest of the property to come in the week or so ahead! There's so much to show!
We intend to be there full time next summer. Exact date and what not to be determined... We want to take it slow so that we can be careful and make good choices 🙂.
@@LetsBuyAChateau Good idea! I am looking forward to watching your channel grow through your french adventures!
I think the We Have Bought A Chateau has been exhausted on YT.
😁
Then just don't watch if you're not interested. No need to rain on someone's parade. Unless that's what you need to feel better about yourself. But you sound bitter ans jealous. Not the best look
How exciting for you. Is this from before the start of school or are the kids home schooled? Have you moved permanently, or just there temporarily? Looking forward to future vlogs about your adventures. Hope to follow in your footsteps one day.
Looks like Beethoven
I Google lensed it.... You're Right!
I'm sure once you have curtains, the draft will not be so bad.
That will be nice 🙂 thank you!!
A little slower on the camera. Hold the camera up more as you walk, not always on the floor. There's a lot to creating a good vlog. Good luck in your new home.
Thanks. Sadly Eve is on the floor at this point in time 🤣
Is it a finial or a Newell (sp?) Post at the top of the stairs?
Newell I think! Or finial? I was so jet lagged I couldn't think straight haha
@@LetsBuyAChateau the end piece of the stairs is “Newell Post” - the doo-hickey on the top is a decorative “finial”
Yours is unusual in that it’s ruby glass - never seen one in glass, and the more usual thing is some sort of figure which often holds a light?
Cool thing.
Get some rest….
@@janechamblesswright119 Thanks, Jane!
Welcome. Where are you from ? A ok....(later) - What region in France did welcome your family ?
Hello!! We're from Nebraska. And we settled in the Vienne. Such a lovely place and close to a lot of other interesting sites!
what a gorgeous home! How much US dollars was this? I want to move to France
If you're familiar with property prices in the US, you won't believe what we paid for this... Quite a bit under 400,000!
I respectfully ask if you can can the background music?
Sorry, I think you missed a word in your comment. What is your suggestion?
You are going to have to give us a walk thru
Yes! That's going to be posted this weekend! I wouldn't leave you hanging!
Where are you in France ?
We bought a place in the Vienne department
It would have been nice to film a proper tour inside & out. Prior to all the talk
That's coming this weekend! There's a lot to see 😃
Is the plan to create a gite or b&b
There are two independent accommodation spaces on the property. We think we will rent those out as gites. They're probably livable now, but I would like to do some work on updating them and making them more pretty and cozy..
parents moving to France to live THEIR dream - the kids uprooted from FRIENDS SCHOOL and their safe bedrooms with beds and stuff -
Lets HOPE the kids were having a say since they`ll have to ADJUST FAST to French - French schools and French kids.....👀👀👀👀
Oh of course they're involved. My kids don't want to do another active shooter drill at school. They don't want the fear of being shot at school anymore.... Trust me. They're on board! We've been talking about it for a while. 💙
How about “ Our Maison on Rue de Chateau” for a name?
I really like that! I was definitely thinking along those lines 🙂
You could name channel Rue du Chateteau.
That's exactly what I was thinking 🤔!!
Congrats on your big adventure! (I'd just keep the channel name, my two cents 😃)
Ok thanks! Appreciate that!! 😊
What up with obsession showing your luggage ? 6 minutes I still didn’t see a house or location 😢
Ha! That was us moving there. No obsession. House tour is next video.
I kind of agree but I think she is just new at this and kind of figuring out the medium.
Nobody wants to watch someone unpack luggage. I think she will quickly move away from just talking into the camera in a very tight shot when she has more content and people offer constructive advice. They bought a property in France and that is what viewers want to see. She’ll figure out a much better place to monologue with more than just a bit of blank wall behind her.
I think they are from the midwest of America since she didn’t know what a hibiscus looked like and called the lavender “overgrown bushes”. It will be a learning curve. Beautiful, curated vlogs and steady camera work take a little time to figure out.
I wish them all the success in the world. 🎉
@@kellymesser3224 I am also looking for a property in France. So the most important for viewers its location, the house and a price. And renovation and helping advices. Of course mistakes and how to fix it. It’s what I want to see. But a personal stuff like luggage( put in a car, take out of car, moving through Aeroport , take to the house, open, unpacking) little bit too much. It’s turned me off. And I stopped watching. But good luck to them, they will learn.
@@kellymesser3224 Hi! I appreciate your patience. Yes, I'll definitely improve. Thanks for sticking around. We were jetlagged, had minimal possessions and were just excited and overwhelmed to be there -- getting this point was no small task! I didn't even bring a tripod - gah! And I had to google the hibiscus -- I'm not familiar and am ready and willing to learn about the beautiful plants in our garden :) I appreciate it!
@@RichardMontano-r7e Like I said, it was day ONE. We'll get there. You saw the reality of day one moving in with essentially nothing to our name but a big house. Renovation and the luxury of something to actually sit on is still ahead. :)
Nice try but you need ALOT BETTER and MORE INTERESTING CONTENT! No one wants to see people blowing up air beds!REMEMBER WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU IS NOT INTERESTING TO THE PUBLIC!!!
Okay, that was day ONE in our new house.
Pack your patience 😁.
AND THERE'S NO NEED TO SHOUT!
Don't be such a Grinch, Jay.
Give them a break - they just arrived.
