From what i looked up, Marlon brando grew up in a chaotic environment. He grew up with an alcoholic mother and a verbally (also likely physically abusive) father. Food was probably way for him to cope with his surroundings.

Seen him before and heard that name but never knew it was him. I'm only 32 and the only old movies I've watched are the one's they sometimes give on AMC and TV Land. Most of the time I find them boring and change the channel.
@@blueladybug4767 i think he was bulimic for some time. he'd have very extreme diets while filming but when he gave up to his cravings he'd make himself throw up. which turned deadly on more than one occasion

James Dean reminds me of someone who'd eat healthy most of the time, but he was only in his early 20's & even if he ate alot (which I don't think he did) he can very easily burn it off. I did hear he loved his wine & was had insomnia.

So many of those old Hollywood actors clearly had untreated mental illnesses and I feel so sorry for them
There is a fine line between genius and insanity. Mozart, Beethoven, Picasso, Van Gogh…the list goes on and on. Brando was arguably the greatest actor ever, and along with that high-functioning artistry comes high mental dysfunction. Almost always. Brando had an insatiable appetite for food, sex (both sexes), spending money he didn’t have, and most importantly - acting. An amazing enigmatic man way ahead of his time.

Okey but the fact that "Mr.hottie" use to walk off the set just in search of food! And the fact that he also had "icecreams" . and that the producers/directors usually HAD to send someone to physically get back to set or else they would often find him passed out because of FOOD is just fairytale romantic type of way.
