One of the ways you can tell is if they do something a lot that doesn't appear to make any money but costs a lot. For example - the Mike Stern Trio are a great band but it's not music or a show that used to sell a whole lot of tickets. Turns out that Mike's father is a billionaire, which is likely how he can afford to do it. Mike's guitar playing is great but not highly commercial. Another good example is Julia-Louis Dreyfus - who had quite a tenuous hold in the comedy world for about a decade before she cracked the big time with Seinfeld in about 1992. Most people couldn't afford a decade of that - her father is also a billionaire. Likewise, Kevin Bacon is married to actress Kyra Sedgwick (half sister of Mike Stern, sharing the same billionaire father) and we all know that Kevin actually wasn't in a whole lot of films and rarely plays the lead role. Most actors can't sustain a 40 year career doing that. This isn't criticism - most people with access to their money don't contribute as much as they do to the world. It's just simple and unignorable facts - touring the world in a poorly selling band multiple times, playing bit comedy parts for a decade and being a highly-selective supporting actor for 40 years are not forms of work that will pay the bills over that time, if someone isn't financed from some other source.
Illosovic Stayne Money in this context refers to “new money,” I.e. people wanting to be flashy and show off they have money and wealth in this context refers to those that have assets, solid cash flow that do not need to flaunt their wealth
Some of these are definitely true. Started working a new job recently and my boss was someone you could tell was extremely wealthy. Good quality shoes and bags, nice watches, nice fitting, good quality clothes, but no brand names on anything. She was well groomed, spoke politely and intelligently, and was kind to everyone. I remember when she treated all the staff members to lunch at a high end hotel, she didn't even look at the bill, just called the waiter and quietly passed her card over. Found out later that she and her husband owned the school I was working at, the hotel we ate in, the amusement park beside it, the golf course, and basically developed half of the area I lived in. Co-worker told me once, "everything you can see outside this window were built by them". I find that people who are truly rich are comfortable in their own skin, they have no need to show off or to prove that they are rich. It is the fake poor that flaunt brand names and get defensive and self-conscious when they 'think' you look down on them. Wealthy people also treat people well, because they know that the people around them are important assets.
I’m the CEO of my businesses and I often come to my organisations where my staff wear LV, Armani, custom Saville Row suits, one even drives a Ferrari etc whilst I drive a fk’d up Honda whilst wearing an oily Ford Mustang shirt and my old work pants, which was for Domino’s. I often shout out “That’s what she said!” and just get away with it. I wear and do whatever is comfortable for myself whilst everyone is just a square and makes money for me. Smart.
@@fortitudevalance8424 you sound awesome. I’m like that as well. No take that back. I like a luxury car but ya I’ll say whatever I want. I like to make my employees laugh and I like my employees to feel a pride in the job and feel appreciated.
I'm an insurance agent/ account manager to the wealthy and much of this is very true. One huge thing I notice about old money is that the people of old money are VERY nice and down to earth.
You are a fool to be mean to someone who manages your money. A fool and his money are soon parted. That's why people who have had money for a long time are always, always nice to their insurance account managers, financial advisors, etc.
@@evelynzlon9492fwiw, these so called Karen’s in modern videos have no idea what they’re doing when they yell at and harass employees at a business, do that and you just guaranteed poor customer service for life with that business. @@IndyAvocadoKid It's all too to treat low-rung employees like trash because real wages for these workers has dwindled over time. The minimum wage is no longer a living wage. In stark contrast to the 1% who have taken off like a rocket. In every sense the highly successful are walking ALL OVER the poor. Often, lower and middle management are the messengers who in-your-face act like it.
After you reach a certain income, you start to realize the money really isn't the most valuable thing in life. It's TIME. Time is worth much much more than millions. Retiring early and enjoying life while I'm healthy. It's the only item on my bucket list.
I knew a super-rich guy when I was in my early 20s. He drove an old beat-up car, dressed like everyone else, rarely had money to do things the rest of us couldn't afford to do. We were good friends for a year before I was invited to his home. He made sure his friends were REAL friends before he allowed them to know that his family was extremely wealthy. Now I see people that appear to be like the rest of us and wonder how many of them are secretly ultra wealthy.
My Dad drove a 1977 VW Kombi up until 2010. His father retired at 45. Dad at 55. Both flew on Concorde. His father had a 20 year old Camry. It was Land, Land & more Land that made them financially successful.
@@lukespector5550 The rich want servants or slaves who they can pay below minimum wage and if they can get away with it want things for free because they're little gods who must be worshiped. A survey should be taken of those who have to deal with them to see that those who are considered poor or middle class are more humble, generous and kind and look out for their workers.
He may not have access to the money yet. His parents may have tied it up in his inheritance. They may also want him to appreciate money and live a normal life. Good for them! He sounds like a great guy.
Your revolution is over. Condolences. The bums lost. My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose. Do you hear me?
I love this video! Thank you so much! Something I wanted to add: as a young girl my parents would always ask about the "family" of someone I wanted to date. They would always say, "sweetie, it's not the money that counts, just make sure he comes from a good family."
@@BLACKSHAMPU You little poopsie! Shame takes aim towards ❤... you have one, me too... ❤ for you, ❤for me,, we're on the way into John Coltrane... Trane plays on sax, with Duke Ellington on piano,
Amusing how many people feel offended by your comment and now have to reveal how they are actually “wealthy” and still watch this video. Well, two things: Firstly, good for you if you’re not just talking BS. Secondly, in any case those comments qualify you as both nouveau riche and lower class - because no sophisticated and civilized gentlemen (or woman) would ever respond in such a lower class manner. And lastly - for all those simpletons out there - no, having a lot of money does not make you upper class at all. In fact, upper class has nothing to do with money whatsoever.
I was thinking the exact same thing.. To say that as a blanket point is simply false. Completely and entirely ignoring every price tag no matter what? That's just idiotic. Having a price in mind of what you believe something is worth paying is what a truly wealthy individual does, trust me.. I seldom comment, but this was worth taking the moment to do so.
@@SGVirtusAuthor Maybe those born with a "silver spoon" are generally not cost-conscious. But the self-made ones would definitely mind how their resources are used. From time to time they would splurge, but not frequently.
There’s a difference between being conscious of how or what you’re spending on and looking at prices. And keep in mind, this vid is talking about the super rich for the most part. Not the the people who are comfortable after working hard for 40 years. I believe you’re confusing wealthy with rich. A better example of this is when someone travels, will they pay $20,000 for a first class flight or rent a $20k-$30k a night hotel? It’s not a question of “should I spend this money?” As much as it is “the $20,000 a night hotel is such a non-issue. My comfort is important... meh, just get it”.
No. 8 most rich people are aloof. They maintain connections and important relations but they don’t socialise and make small talk with every one they meet
True ... also No. 6 at 6:45 only rich people that like losing their wealth have financial advisors and trust them, smart people can do without them ... "a fool and his money are soon parted"
"The quickest way to get rich, is taking a luxury that is reserved for the rich & making it avaible to the masses!!" I FEEL THAT!... Time is a luxury....
@@alux #3 rich people do wear designer brands and high end clothes but they carry themselves like it's another piece of clothing and aren't flashy about it. Many wealthy women wear Louboutins as well as Poor women.
Yeah like meat used to be a luxury now it's for everyone. Same with cars, computers, single homes, banks, clean clothes... Wonder what else we can take from rich and mass produce it :)
I was raised poor/middle class. In my 30’s I began investing in real estate and quickly gained financial success. Although my finances have changed I don’t wear name brand clothes or jewelry as a result people typically have no idea. Other than the bank tellers treating you super nice it’s cool to be incognito and not have to worry about money lol.
I find myself having a lot of these traits (and I am not wealthy). I think most of them have to do more with class than money (even though they walk hand in hand). Charisma, taste, class, and a brand. I guess this thinking and way of life is part of my growth mindset.
Being wealthy gives you life lessons. People want to take advantage of you, people also want you to work for them for free being their doctor, their lawyer, their handyman, everyfuckingthing, this is fine if it's just one friend but when it becomes an every growing amount of people, you realise that they're all exploiting you and holding the gossip of "money has changed him" as a way to keep you in line. So it's a natural defense mechanism to present yourself in a way that's ambiguous to your income, fill your time with excuses and only provide your friendship and loyality to those who deserve it. Any person can exhibit all the positive traits you mention if they're independent, respect people time and privacy and has a little taste.
True true story from a friend. Many yrs ago a janitor at my friend’s workplace all of a sudden announced he was retiring. This was it. Everyone learned that he had been silently in the stock mkt for a few decades and had done very very well. Needless to say it was a TOTAL shocker. Never judge a book by its cover.
I've worked as a private nurse for several billionaires and a lot of these are true. NOT ALL of them apply, but the super wealthy, especially the old rich, are usually very low profile. Wanting privacy is probably their biggest common quality. You'll probably never know they're billionaires when you see them on the streets (A lot of them wear old clothes and have zero brands).
“What’s one time you found out someone is really rich?” I was in College. Jokingly said to my friend, “Nice bag! Can you give it to me?” 😁 then she tossed all the things inside her bag in a plastic bag and gave the bag to me. It was a louis vuitton bag which was worth $2000. She was always wearing plain clothes (but looks so comfy and with high quality) and a subtle accessories or a bag that ordinary college student can’t afford. I always know she was rich but i didnt expect her to be that crazy rich!!! We’re still friends and I think I learnt a lot from her! ❤️
i remember my friend who is a socialite and works in a luxury fashion magazine. you wouldnt know she is from an old rich family because you can see her attend to models and photographers, carrying their luggage, serving lunch to staffs, etc.
My wife used to have a client, that turned out to be part of one of Indonesia wealthiest families. We’re talking Forbes list. And very humble and easy going people.
I found out my old neighbor was a millions after being friends with her for 2 yrs. She’s frugal on a daily basis but always purchases good food regarding of the cost and always gets the best seat in the house at Broadway shows. Last big expense for her was a 60k surgery for her dog. She was so grateful that she was able to get the best care for her dog.
I am now 62 years old, my grandfather held the title of both Viscount and Baron,I did not grow up thinking MONEY had anything to do with "wealth" I grew up knowing that an inherited title comes with great responsibility - it's one thing to posture and call attention to yourself it's a different matter to be grateful and realise your situation is a privilege not a right and that a person's merit lies in the kind of person you are and not in what you have materially.
My favorite one is “they spend money to save time, not time to save money”. The wealthy value their time above ALL else! Excellent value. You guys inspired me to create my own self improvement/personal finance channel! Thank you!!
I worked at the 1st class of emirates airlines A380 where there were "shower spas" inside the airplane, so they can shower even up in the sky... These rich people are usually quiet, soft-spoken, dressed conservatively, polite, and were not that demanding. There is a private bar lounge with several alcoholic drinks (including a bottle of Dom Pérignon), Godiva chocolates and hors d'oeuvres, but most would be happy just inside their private cabins in 1st class, not touching whats free :)
While working as a teller, I would often see this construction worker come in. You know the look, strong guy that's you always see in his work coveralls and boots. After a year I found out that he was not, in fact, a laborer, but a billionaire who wanted to learn how to make a house. He commissioned a vacation home and worked with the contractors to build it. Talk about a change in appearance the first time I was him in a suit and ready for a boardroom.
One time, a customer at my work came in wearing a hooded top and plain jeans. She didnt really give off anything noticeable at all that she was rich, and i only figured out she possibly was when i asked her (like with any customer btw) if she would like to add a tip on her card for the baristas. She said "yeah give them $20". And i realized how solid metal black her card was then lol i joked with her "wow 20 thank you so much, are you like secretly wealthy? XD" and she gave me this very stern yet open expression and said "yeah actually", and walked off. She was so cool about it. Wealthy people can honestly walk amongst us looking like average or below average folks. She was an example i couldnt forget lol

Years ago, my Dad felt sorry for this old guy sitting at a bar and bought him a drink. This was in a very small town with lots of farmers around. Who never were in the bar that time of day (they were working on the farms). This guy was in ancient overalls, raggy shirt, beat up shoes, torn straw hat, and drove a very beat up old pickup truck (paint job essentially down to the primer). After the guy left, one of the other men told my Dad who he was - the wealthiest guy around for miles. He was a multi-millionaire. He really did NOT care about appearances!
There is nothing admirable about a bum with money. Remove the money and you still have a bum. A wealthy person with class who has their money removed still has class.
@@luxebeauty5706 it's not because the guy doesn't value showing off fancy clothes and shiny cars that he's a bum. "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."
A classmate in my statistics class at uni always had on really worn out clothes and was always smiling. He turned out to actually own a personal plane. Wealthy family!
I worked at a resort. You could tell which ones were old money and ones with new money. The old money would be polite and greet you. While the new money would snub you. It was hard because I'm a people person and love meeting new people.
Well I learned from a young age that the world of the wealthy is split into 3. *Old money* ( transgenerational wealth), *New money* ( recently made wealthy typically self made and flashy) and *Quiet money* ( can be old or new money, but you wouldn't know they are wealthy since they don't flash, are humble, typically self made, financially conservative and blend in well especially into high middle class neighborhoods and lifestyle). I met them all, quiet money are the most interesting and better to get along with since they are not entitled and aware of the world, typically very worldly and intellectual.
Sooo true they make the best type of conversation, especially to learn from their experiences. On thing I've personally noticed people in this category love helping other on the "low"
In my country i used to work in the wealthiest part of the city and i noticed that rich people (recognizable by their cars) are always polite on the road: they would let u cross calmly, seldom horn etc. I always wondered if they're not in a hurry cos they already have money or if they don't want to fight on the road so they dont damage their cars, or if being calm and collected when driving is a trait that actually comes with wealth. Anyway, i decided to act like them when on the road 😂
It's more because they have less stress in their life. They also want to treat other people well because after you remove money out of the equation, it's all about how people treat you.
i noticed this, too. I went to two different Walmarts in the same day: one in a rich neighborhood and one in a poor neighborhood. The driving manners were night and day different. I think it's because rich people, in general, know that if you are considerate of other people than other people will treat you accordingly.
It is because those of us who are wealthy know how this universe works. We know that a high vibration attracts that which we desire. It will attract similar feeling events, people and circumstances that make us feel that positively again. Honking and having road rage is a very low vibration, which will attract similar feeling events, people and circumstances that make us feel negatively again.
To be successful in life , just do something that will earn you money while you sleep, no matter how little. The pandemic was a prefect eye opener to really see how life can be without the usual income steam and every one had to sit at home 🏡. Well I never felt it because of my investment in a crypto trading company where I earn 4 figures weekly. The best one can do for himself is to invest more and spend less
My first experience was with a family that her husband was on the cover of Forbes they lived so modestly that I thought it was a souvenir that they had made, it was encased and on a special shelf. She allowed me open it and read his story to see that it was true! The article was about the business he created years ago and he was still running at the time I was working with them. I learned so much from them both. They really took me in and grew me!
Love it. Those covers are in dens and bought as a novelty souvenir so friends can say “Dan, wealthiest man in Minnesota, did Tammy buy that for you?” Only this time, it was real
My Mom is like this, she is quiet about her huge wealth. To look at her you would never know, she shuns brands like Prada or Chanel. She has lots of luxury brands but prefers to carry small practical purses and wallets and wear casual comfortable clothes. She's not a miser either, she enjoys entertaining her friends at home with big dinner parties and travels a lot. Her life inspires me.

“A fool and his gold are soon parted.” People may and will overcharge you if they think you’re rich. Companies will charge more for services and products in more affluent towns, despite offering the same service or products for cheaper in lesser. If you fall for this scam repeatedly, you won’t stay rich long. If you act like “I don’t care what it costs,” well, then you won’t mind getting robbed blind. Check the price, and if you don’t agree with it, walk away.
@@danielemoyon1649 Yeah i also believe many rich people are careful with their money. Because for me if you are not it is very easy to blow it all. Been enough cases of rich people blowing their fortune and are now poor.

True. I've worked for corporate presidents. Some of them tell me to go to a certain car wash (asking for certain services) because they've heard about discounts at that place.
The really wealthy ones in NYC don’t even go out to restaurants. They have their own private chefs living in their townhouses. Thus you hardly see them in public
When i came to university i had a bit of a drinking problem, but it meant i met a lot of people. One person in particular i would drink with almost daily (but he would never get out of control). When i landed myself a decent paying job and was making more than most of my friends i would be a bit of a show off and splash my money around. With said friend, we would go out to restaurants every week and eventually he took me to dinner in a significantly more expensive place and i asked him how he could afford it. I found out his Dad was pretty high up in apple and had plenty of money. He told me 'he didn't want everyone to know though because he is more than just his money'. That tought me a huge lesson in being humble and respectable
One of the wealthiest men I ever knew always wore out bib overalls, drove a beat-up Datsun pickup truck, and wore beat-up shoes. He owed half the property in a Northeast Ohio town in the 1980s. He worked every day I knew him and was a very dear friend for many years.
People who poorly judge people actually working at any wage in a capitalist economy are what I call a champagne socialist. Billionaire capitalists truly appreciate any person working for money.

The one time I let a complete stranger take a call on my phone, I had the best experience of my life. It taught me to behave as if I was wealthy at all times, even though I am poor as a church mouse. It is a mental setting, I never will abandon.
There are values that are attached to wealth that stay even if wealth is lost. I have found this to be true over time. During my career in Academia, I met an elderly gentleman who was the Director of our university library. He was a quiet and very knowledgeable man of impeccable manners, who was a pleasure to work with. Many years later, I learned he was an exiled Hungarian Count who had helped many jews escape from the Nazis during WWII. Likewise, I had an old friend and classmate who was always very low key and down to earth. Many years after meeting her I found out she was a granddaughter of the Cuban founder of Partagas cigars, a family of enormous wealth who lost it all through the Castrist revolution. In both cases, I learned their backgrounds by chance because neither ever discussed nor flaunted it. In my opinion, that is true class.
@ravensonng If he was a Count then his demeanour is from hundreds of years of upbringing. I would imagine his offspring have already made back the fortune that was stolen from him.
I can relate to this actually. Somebody I know has one side of the family was heavily involved with politics and governance in South Vietnam before the War. During the Vietnam War, his entire family lost all their wealth when the communists took over the region. However, they slowly regained back their wealth and because of the networking and reputation that his great-grandfather and grandfather had during those days. He would have what I would call a "rich person" mindset and the assistance from the network.

My Mom is an private health aide to a lady whose husband was a millionaire. He left her a trust for after his passing. His wealth transfers to his grandson. In their family it is tradition to pass the wealth by skipping a generation. So his son received wealth from the grandfather. Their home is nice, but modest compared to what I'd imagine a millionaire living in. It is also in a remote part of a beautiful state. The lady is very kind and even attended my brother's wedding. She sees her aides as her family in a way. She attended Vassar as a young woman and had servants in her home growing up. She was a southern belle. I've met her and her husband. Their clothes were simple but good quality, as is their home. Wealth truly whispers. Wealth is refined.
“Fortify yourself with moderation.” The goal is to be wealthy and pass it down not to look wealthy. Rich and wealthy are not the same thing; not even close.
I wholeheartedly agree. Greed, ostentatious behavior and lavish spending are poisonous qualities. There's nothing wrong with wanting and striving for more. One shouldn't have an inflated ego and be arrogant though. Discipline and self control are key.
I found out my friend was wealthy when she mentioned she was having a Christmas dinner party for over 20 people the next evening. I couldn’t believe she was so calm because I would have been frantic planning/preparing/shopping/cooking etc but she was totally relaxed about the whole thing. Then casually mentioned she was having the dinner party catered with a private chef and wait staff. And I just thought how cool (and efficient) that was.

A few years ago I was employed by one of the richest and most influential families on the west coast. I haven't met the wife yet, so one day this pretty woman walked into the room and after greeting us, just kept going. That's when I was informed that she was the matriarch. She was wearing coveralls and a checkered shirt and carrying cleaning supplies. She had no makeup on and her hair was in a neat ponytail. I assumed she was the cleaning lady..LOL. She also turned out to be a former supermodel and yet very sweet, down to earth nice. I also have a childhood friend who is a self made super rich, yet he grows veggies in the front yard of his mansion. His neighbors are very annoyed, but are too afraid of him to do anything about it, since they know he's the only one in that neighborhood who purchased that mansion with cash.

This happens a lot in California. The really rich older women / matriarch are actually very nice. I once wandered into a golf club right next to highway 1 on the pacific. They offered me tea, etc while my dad used the restroom. Right next to the golf club was an infinity pool looking out to the pacific. Every older female smiled at us while they were coming or going. When we left I noticed they were all driving range rovers. 😂🤣

I have noticed an easy way to tell if a wealthy person is self made or was gifted wealth … the self made or ones who had to grind and earn their wealth love telling you very useful information and want you to have wealth and usually tip and appreciate services, the ones who were given their wealth seem to almost always want to tell you about their materials and cost and don’t want anyone else to have money.
I’ve been in the room with many rich people. Some billionaires even. The richest always look like they have nothing. Seriously they look like a normal person. Sometimes an expensive watch on their wrist gives it away but that’s super subtle...
I doubt that. If you look at what you're saying think about extremely rich celebrities. They do not dress poorly. Very wealthy corporate types also dress well. Bespoke clothing etc. Rolex or Piaget watch. How many rich circles do you mix in? If none. Then you know nothing.
Julie Randall you sound misinformed. Super wealthy people do not need to come off as wealthy, their work and business speaks for itself. As for middle class trying to be rich, they dress and fit a stereotype of rich because that is exactly the image they are trying to provide.
@@LilSexyGAMER Are you American by any chance? Only I am English and we tend to do things differently over here. The super rich here don't go around looking like scruffy Zucker for example. I actually know billionaires on the London circuit and not one of them turns up to a society party dressed in a t-shirt and jeans!! That's just rude. Everybody there is well dressed in bespoke designer clothing out of respect for the host. That is how London Society conducts itself. We are an old world country so we tend not to change too much sometimes. I know billionaires who have their own helicopters or have second homes in the most expensive streets of Paris. I don't just sit in a room with random rich people, I actually know them. You should not presume others knowledge based upon your own. Very dangerous. Different countries adopt different ways. America is a new country and doesn't have the same class system for a start. If a party goer were to turn up in dressed down scruffy attire they would not be welcomed. For example I was at a party in London on the Thames at a penthouse apartment worth over £10M. And that was just ONE of their homes. I think I know what I'm talking about.
I think that really depends how people came into their wealth. People who have hustled hard know what it's like to start from the bottom, often times having worked those same service jobs, so they have a level of empathy that often gets lost on those who are born into wealth. Of course there are always exceptions, but, at least with the people I've known who have come from modest means and have moved into the upper or upper middle classes, are all very empathetic to the struggles of service industry workers. It seems like the people who are pretending to be wealthy (e.g. they get a Platinum card to flash at restaurants, but leave a 5% tip) are the douchiest people on the planet. They seem to be worse than the people who are born into wealth because they know they're riding so far along the edge of financial stability that the stress of maintaining the charade piles up and they act like dicks to everyone else because of their own insecurities.
Story Daniels Depends on how you define rich. Material wealth increases your number of options. But there are other kinds of wealth that are non-material.
@@Beautyinwverything Disagree, this is a great mentality that most people don't have the character or self-understanding to have. Your desire for more is a byproduct of the society around you constantly brainwashing you into thinking you need more. The elite at the top are the ones who control your life.
@Eddie Morra And if it’s exclusively material wealth to which you refer, then you might be surprised how poverty stricken the materially wealthy can be. As a case in point, I just read about squabbles between billionaire neighbours. I sure wouldn’t want to live anywhere near them. Nasty people. As Jesus put it, and I paraphrase, what good does it do you to gain the world but forfeit your soul?
When I was a teen, I babysat for people who picked me up in a Rolls. I've met people who had real French Impressionist paintings on their walls. Old money expects their family to have impeccable manners. New money shows off and loses their money. Tina
From my experience rich people, just like anybody else come in all shapes and forms. It largely depends on where do they come from (culture & country), if they're old or new money, and simply their personality! Some just like to flash money, while others don't. I see younger generations who made money more like that, than older folks. In some countries, it's a norm to be flashy, and if you're not you don't fit in. In others, it's a norm to be low key. One thing that's very common among all the wealthy people that I know is that they all travel a lot. Some will stay at expensive 5-star hotels, while others opt-in for more affordable accommodation. Plenty of travel is a common denominator of the rich crowd, even though there are more and more middle-class people who are well-traveled. There is simply no way you can generalize rich people, most of these things are stereotypical and many rich folks wouldn't follow those signs. The only way you can tell if someone is rich is if you look at their bank account and assets they own.
Totally agree with that. It's like you adopt to where you are. The feeling you are in an airport and realized that it's time to do the simple adjustment of how you use your clothes.....
Most wealthy people I know drive Honda’s and Toyota’s. My dads friend owns a lot of of apartments in the Seattle area! Dude drive a 2002 Honda Accord. I think it’s cool how he has a lot of money but acts like he’s broke. Hands down if a family emergency happens he has the funds to cover it.
He is not purposely acting broke. He is wealthy because he uses every dollar he can to reinvest to make more money. Rich people use money to make money. Rich people buy time from other people. Rich people pay people to make money for them. Poor people sell their time. Time is the most valuable asset.
A friend of mine got a good deal on a big house in Marion Pennsylvania. Marion is in an area refereed to as "The Main Line" which got it's name from the main thoroughfare of the Pennsylvania Railroad heading west from Philadelphia back in the day. There has always been big wealth there since the railroad money first came in but is now mixed in with those who are just "faking it" shall we say. This friends house was really solid but had gotten run down and had a whole bunch of weird renovations over the years. I would help him work on fixing it up. Gutted a bunch of stuff and had a dumpster in the driveway pretty often. Some of the neighbors were really friendly and enthusiastic about the place being fixed up and would stop and chat about random things like wood carving or other hobbies. Others would leer at us while driving by in their BMWs or what have you and there was an occasional complaint about the construction debris etc. Turns out the friendly ones all had ridiculously huge estates and so much wealth they couldn't burn it if they wanted to and the haughty ones with their noses up were mortgaged up to their ears.
I didn’t know my family had money until I went to university and met friends from different backgrounds. Up until then, my upbringing was very protected through private schools, friends from the same background, always traveling as a family. I assumed everyone had two nannies growing up. I assumed most people had gardeners, housekeepers, a cook, a majordomo, etc. it was a huge wake-up call.
I'm so happy you were able to realise that not all rich people have nannies or housekeepers or maids or someone to put on and then pull of their shoes.I found out as well and I now put on the shoes I've bought at the outlet shops.
A friend of mine had a similar upbringing. She also thought every kid had a nanny and personal driver until I asked her if her nanny's kids had a nanny and if her driver had a driver. You said you were very protected but you were actually in daily contact with people who obvious don't have the same privilege as you.
Bart Watts i grew up in a blue collar working class neighborhood. My parents were never in debt with credit cards and such as they were frugal and knew the value of a dollar even though they were not rich. No nannies, no private schools, no exotic vacations just simple living. I now have that same frugal mentality I saw in them growing up, no credit card debt, no car debt but with money to invest.
I live in a resort area. I once rented out a room in my house here in Hawaii to an athlete who was into water sports. In the morning, he would work at his desk, then in the afternoon he would go windsurfing. In the winter, he did ski patrol in Aspen. I asked him what kind of work he was doing. He told me he sat on a few boards. Years later, I found out his family had incredible generational wealth, several businesses, and was the second or third largest landowner in the nation. No one on the island was at all aware he had money.
Then why strive to be famous? So many people dream to be famous and rich and impart great influence on the rest of the unwashed masses. It's a fanaticism in the USA. Be rich! Be famous!
The first time I found out someone was seriously wealthy was in college where a girl I knew didn't have a car or a phone. She was not pretentious. I noticed that she took a cab when she needed to go somewhere without a thought. Also, she would jet off to New York or London during breaks without a thought. As for the no phone it was before cell phones and it was other people's business to get in touch with her.
When you are wealthy there are people to look after things. At an informal gathering of a few of my super wealthy friends it was noticed that we all have flip phones. I'm not rich but have finally earned the right to call myself a philanthropist, rather than working 'in finance'. :)
Eavesdropping on a group of yuppies talking about Apple products and they asked the quiet guy why he doesn’t own a Macbook, he just calmly replied with “my personal assistant has a Macbook and I only use my iPhone to take pictures of my dog.” 😂 ballin
Your worth as a person goes beyond your social class and financial status. You are capable of achieving great things regardless of where you come from or how much money you have.
One time - at a wedding party a financial advisor pull me aside and started to pitch his company and how they could manage my family’s wealth - I was confused - until he said - that he can tell by the way I engaged with people and by my suit (which was tailored) - that I was wealthy - and also since the bride, a friend of mine was wealthy- he came to that conclusion. So Alux you nail this one on the head.
a girl I went to elementary school with one day didn't have money for lunch because her dad inadvertently handed her $100 bills instead of $1 bills and they didn't have change for it. Her dad just didn't notice the difference. I was the poor kid at a semi wealthy school but that day I was like, wow, my parents never have $100 bills.

The family crest embroidered on their belongings??? What does that have to do with anything?
"Money talks, wealth whispers." I like that.
What's the difference between money and wealth in this comparison?
Illosovic Stayne
Money in this context refers to “new money,” I.e. people wanting to be flashy and show off they have money and wealth in this context refers to those that have assets, solid cash flow that do not need to flaunt their wealth
As soon as I heard it I posted it! Lol I like to enlighten my friends
Imagine a wealthy man whispers to your ear saying he’s rich while in the elevator.
Me too!
It's not poor people who feel they need to show off pretending to be rich , it's INSECURE people who show off

I disagree somewhat with #4. Most real rich are cost conscious. Every dollar matters. They are careful where their money goes or how it's used.

A wealthy person gives to charity if they feel people are most important.

Its so true what you say about the rich...I think they have peacefull minds...
i noticed this, too. I went to two different Walmarts in the same day: one in a rich neighborhood and one in a poor neighborhood. The driving manners were night and day different. I think it's because rich people, in general, know that if you are considerate of other people than other people will treat you accordingly.

When i landed myself a decent paying job and was making more than most of my friends i would be a bit of a show off and splash my money around. With said friend, we would go out to restaurants every week and eventually he took me to dinner in a significantly more expensive place and i asked him how he could afford it.
Once the money goes and what’s left is their lovely manners.
My mum had lovely manners because she came from the city fathers class in the Netherlands.

Something that my dad would've told me was to give and invest like a rich man, but don't live like one.

He is not purposely acting broke. He is wealthy because he uses every dollar he can to reinvest to make more money. Rich people use money to make money. Rich people buy time from other people. Rich people pay people to make money for them. Poor people sell their time. Time is the most valuable asset.
Staying wealthy, or rich means retaining it.
Truth about the Hondas and Toyotas!
@@johnnyhotrod2608 I understand what your trying to say I know I agree on that! thanks for your reply!

I had a similar experience when i went to off to college.
Good for you though . Atleast you realized how blessed you are !
Man I chose this over Netflix because I’m broke and can only afford RUclips. Thanks for trying to make me feel good about myself.
Never say im broke even if you're broke just believe ur life just gonna become rich af and it will happen
Sometimes the obstacle is the way
Not exactly a choice is it? Also dont complain about ur financial situation, get urself out of it man
Hello my nigga ❤️
Ha
Sometimes poor people try everything they can to act rich. The true rich people save money. That’s how they become rich in the first place lol
Rich people invest
@Ilana the Cat Yes! 😀
That's how poor people think people become rich
No they become rich by investing
I live in a resort area. I once rented out a room in my house here in Hawaii to an athlete who was into water sports. In the morning, he would work at his desk, then in the afternoon he would go windsurfing. In the winter, he did ski patrol in Aspen. I asked him what kind of work he was doing. He told me he sat on a few boards. Years later, I found out his family had incredible generational wealth, several businesses, and was the second or third largest landowner in the nation. No one on the island was at all aware he had money.
Time is a luxury
“The more famous you are, the less you own yourself”
The more paparazzi will chase their behind making things complicated
Then why strive to be famous? So many people dream to be famous and rich and impart great influence on the rest of the unwashed masses. It's a fanaticism in the USA. Be rich! Be famous!
there are more people that are rich and live a private life than famous, you just percieve rich as also famous
@Francis Ebbecke '... it was other people's business to get in touch with her'. I like that.
Except that you cannot spell...a suit you wear, a suite is furniture
@@mandaroseblade1000 OK, Ms. Spell checker. 😒
"You are what you look like"- willisix
A older lady once told me " You look like you got money" I guess it's in the way a person carries themselves, even though I'm not rich.
That makes no sense. What is your point?
It's likely how you carried yourself, or her perception of "someone that had money"
Same
@Jonathan Man lmao 😂 ... you’re so mean
a girl I went to elementary school with one day didn't have money for lunch because her dad inadvertently handed her $100 bills instead of $1 bills and they didn't have change for it. Her dad just didn't notice the difference. I was the poor kid at a semi wealthy school but that day I was like, wow, my parents never have $100 bills.
