Actually, I recall that Power Miners actually did get a complete ending in a two-page LEGO Club Magazine comic. If my memory is correct, the bigfig in the Lavatraz set was the last of the Rock Monsters, and by defeating him the earthquakes stopped happening. Not the most riveting ending, but it gave the needed closure my eight-year-old self.
That... is pretty weak. I get it that the lava monsters are an upgrade from the rock monsters, but do they really expect us to believe that mid-tier one was the final boss? Not a giant two-headed lava monster had the theme gone on long enough?
Well that was the end of the series, but one character appeared in another theme, Atlantis, which connected the two. There are so many references to other system sets from other themes, it seems like theres a shared universe. I mean not like the lego movie, or dimensions, i would love if there was a video connecting everything together, such as Atlantis to Aqua Raiders and Power Miners, to Ninjago connecting to Ultra Agents, which was connected to Agents, which connected to Alpha Team
Maroon Cactus these lists here are themes that are connected 1. Aqua raiders-Power Miners-Atlantis-Pharaoh's Quest-Alien Conquest-Dino-adventures 2. Monster Fighters-Galaxy Squad-Ultra Agents 3. Agents-Racers-City All these themes are connected in Lego magazines (for example brains (power miners) joins the Atlantis team, the Atlantis villains, pharaohs quest villains and dino villains worked for the alien conquest main villain in a comic and josh thunder and Johnny thunder but everyone knows that, Solomon blaze is in galaxy squad and ultra agents and there's a comic where Lord vampire (monster hunters) brings down the aliens from galaxy squad and there's a game called the robot chronicles which connects the third list
Cool car 161 another thing that slipped my mind, in the Ultra Agents app, there was a revealing of the old Agents uniform, which means those two are connected also. Ultra Agents shared characters with Ninjago, which could mean those are connected as well
I love this series to death right now, it's hard to find actually sophisticated analysis of Lego themes as opposed to 3 minute unboxing videos by a shouty dude
Thanks, dood. I'm just hoping this series gets some more traction. These videos take too much time to edit for me to justify uploading them this frequently. I'll have to slow down to once a month or so after episode 4 if things don't pick up.
NickonAquaMagna Don't feel too much pressure to rush out anything you feel doesn't warrant the time it takes to put out this sort of video, just know that I and I'm sure many others have your back all the way.
"Then, at the other end of the spectrum, you have aliens; a dark and grim universe where humans aren't valued" .... clearly you've never heard of warhammer 40k!
Rock Raiders was my jam. i LOVED that theme with a passion. the hover scout, the chrome crusher, the granite grinder, it was AMAZING. The game only reinforced my love for it.
I remember when the Power Miners came out. I loved the theme, colors, and vehicles. The alternate builds were so much fun to build. Power Miners released at the time when the Star Wars Clone Wars sets were dominating and I really didn't like the way the faces of the minifigs in those sets looked at the time. I just love the underground digging idea. As a kid I loved to dig in the dirt, so this theme really clicked with me. I remember having all sorts of scenarios built in my room. So much fun.
I had 2 older brothers who both total 90s kids, I was always so jealous of their rock raiders sets. When Power Miners was first teased with that animation of the drill bursting through the cave wall into a rock monster I was SO excited. I still remember the hype
"Power Miners" was such a great theme. Shame the second year wasn't quite as good before the theme died. Perhaps the first year didn't make as much money as Lego wanted, so they didn't put as much work into the second year. That's my thoughts anyway.
Yeah sounds like familiar fail scenario, but that's why LEGO usually making only 3 year runs of themes, but sometimes i have a feeling they could earn a lot if they would listen more to the fans feedback btw when you're going to make a rewind on Exo-Force ?
oh just a bit out of topic, you're kind of a Sonic series fan right ? I had an idea for a story that could be a base for a game from series, and for new characters, woudl you like to read about them ?
Good lord, when I first saw the Power Miners color scheme, I bloody hated it. I thought it was extremely garish and there was so much of the unappealing green! Nowadays, it's been long enough that I look back on this with nostalgia. There's been a great number of good LEGO ideas over the years, and this was one of them.
I was born a bit late to the Rock Raiders theme, but I did play the game, and my god is it awesome! It's somewhat of an Age Of Empire clone without all the combat obviously. It was a ton of fun. Shame I couldn't find any Rock Raider sets though.
I had the PC version of the Rock Raiders video game back in the early 2000's and played it a lot (but never beat it), so it's pretty nostalgic for me even though I didn't get any of the sets until much later.
I remember seeing Lego Power Miners when I was growing up. Now that I look back at many of these themes, I appreciate them better than I did in my day, so I thank you for all the themes you've been able to cover overall.
Omg this is so fun going through all this videos and seeing all the old sets I saw and sometimes had when I was a kid. I'm only 25 now but I feel super old XD thanks for making these videos man
I loved playing with legos as a kid, but I was never a lego maniac. It was mostly because my family never had too much money at their hands to buy toys, so all I had was a box of old bricks with a few other old sets thrown in as well. Still, I liked looking at the boxes on store shelves. And when I saw Power Miners there, they caught my attention immidiately. I had to have at least one. I scrambled some money from my allowence and bought myself that Granite Grinder. A shame I couldn't afford more, because the colors and builds were great in this theme.
i absolutely loved the granite grinder when i was a kid, there was something fun about that set that the others don't have, but i can't quite describe it
Did you know the underground atmosphere for Rock Raiders was inspired by the Dinotopia books by James Gurney? You can especially see this in the Dinotopia book "The world beneath".
I loved the Rockraiders game a lot. There's some intense satisfaction from unearthing and exploring an alien planet. Unfortunately the sets were't in stores anymore at the time. I remember composing vehicles and buildings that had a similar feel, which works pretty well with rockraiders rough aesthetics.
I didn't grow up with Rock Raiders as I was just getting into Lego at the time those sets were released (had to start with Town and such). The world and characters of that theme seem interesting. Certainly see the Alien visual cues. Power Miners on the other hand was definitely a Lego theme I was really into. Like you said in the video, the functions and colour schemes turned out really well and made for great sets both for play and display. The Thunder Drill,Claw Digger and Crystal King would probably be some of my favourite sets. Just a shame that Lego canned it so soon into its second year, but I guess that's a growing trend with Lego's action themes. *tragically remembers Exo-Force* Looking forward to hearing your take on Bionicle's ancestors in the next episode!
I loved Rock Raiders so much as a kid and even as an adult I really dig the vibe and aesthetic it has. I remember as a kid playing with them in the dark with flash lights to better emulate the caves in my brain and it just created this unforgettable atmosphere to little me.
Man, power miners was one of the first Lego themes I ever really got into(the first being bionicle and the second being aqua raiders 07), and I'm honestly surprised at how well a lot of those sets held up over the years
NickonAquaMagna Possibly, I do know it's from the shark gate set in Atlantis. I'm also extremely happy as Jangbricks and Just2Good inspired me to build my two Lego power miners sets, while watching this video I've been playing with them (The crystal sweeper 3:42 and mine mech 3:37)
Ah yes, 2009-2010 nostalgia. I ended up collecting most of the Power Miners vehicles over time; was the best thing in the world for 12-13 year old me. The Thunder Driller or whatever it was called (the big drill tank) was probably my favorite. I still have them lying around and they're only really missing a few small pieces. I'm still kind of proud of my self for not destroying them and scattering the pieces to the four corners of the Earth like I did with the other Legos I had when I was young.
I grew up with power miners so I’m probably biased but it’s one of my favourite themes of all time. Every set had a mining function, even the polybag, and it was a theme that exemplified what I love about Lego at the time, that it was focused entirely on affordable fun toys for kids. Plus shiny plastic crystals pretty
I loved lego at the time of Atlantis, Power miners and early ninjago and the functionality of s1 power miners were super fun, and I have always wanted the big sweeper one that actually dumped them into the back.
Power Miners was the first Lego Theme that I was seriously invested in as a kid. I inherited a massive amount of classic city and space sets from my mom and her brothers so I didn't really buy too many new sets aside from the occasional police cruiser or helicopter. But Power Miners was something that I didn't have anything resembling it at the time and so I became a bit obsessed with it, and many of my friends jumping in on the hype certainly helped that as well. The 8961 Crystal Sweeper was the most important thing in my life for a while.
I'm quite aware of the fact that this is super late, but I just wanna say that this series is amazing. As someone planning out a massive Lego project (A custom City with detailed history and lore based upon both real life and Lego (sub)themes that I feel fit) and it's so hard to find someone actually giving in depth overviews of the story and concepts brought by each theme rather than just showing every set released in the theme with no explaination. Sure, I'm not always sticking exactly to the lore of the themes as Lego laid them out (For example the Vikings in my story both fight the monsters and dragons Lego intended, along with being invaders to my Lego Archipelago in a vauge mirror to the Viking invasions of the British Isles) but having the basis Lego set out to structure my stories and history around makes things much easier and gives my setting more of that Lego vibe. Thank you for the good work, and I wish you all the best
Both these themes were fun and interesting, rock raiders was revolutionary in bringing us our very first big fig, were as rock raiders had some interesting sets, overall I prefer reck raiders but power miners is also fun, I just prefer the style and story of rock raiders
I only ever had one Rock Raiders set (the little hovercraft thing that came with Jet) but I remember loving it, especially the turquoise console piece.
It's an nice piece for small vehicles. It's also used in darth maul's speeder. Jet is such a cool character. Love her white hair and helmet. I also like how the set comes with a variety of tools.
Power miners and Atlantis were THE best Lego themes they made. If anything comparable was ever released, It was so long most of us were not even here yet. These were some of my best lego memories.
Rock Raiders was one of the first things that got me into Legos when I was a little kid. Not just the sets, but the game as well. I'm pretty sure I have almost every set they came out with, including the base, transport ship, and heavy miner. The characters looked great and were very unique, the whole aesthetic fit the theme really well, and I loved the concept of space miners with advanced technology. Really love their starship too, kinda wish they had made a set for it at some point, even if it was just a static model meant for display, like a few of the old Lego Star Wars ships.
Power miners and Atlantis were my two favorite series of LEGO. I still nearly every single set from each of them in my room. Thanks for the trip down memory lane man.
I remember getting all hyped for the Powerminers, When the first appered on the shelfs. After a few smal sets my parents got me the old Rock raiders game, which then bought me to the point, where i completle stopped Buying Power miners, in oder to get the old Rock raiders via eBay. I might dig them out some time soon. (pun intended) Just for old Times sake.
Really never owned any of these sets but I love watching your video, gives me ideas on my Lego Space Mountain Mining Moc that I'm building as we speak. Thank you for the inspiration
Also, has anyone else noticed that LEGO slowly switched from introducing around 2 action themes a year which lasted for around 3 waves to having Ninjago and one other longer-running theme (Nexo Knights)? There has not been another new non-licensed system theme since 2015's Pirates, and the last sci-fi-y theme was Ultra Agent.
Earven yeah but ninjago has changed a lot since the beginning as the have ditched one of the biggest draws being the cards and spinners and personally I think it should have ended after they defeated overlord
dont say that dude! People love ninjago more than any other theme! Might i add that it is the best selling lego theme out right now. So you can thank ninjago for keeping lego going!
Yeah, I think that’s one reason I stopped buying anything. Star Wars set were the only thing keeping me going at that point and they were ALWAYS way too overprice for my blood. All there ever seemed to be was Ninjago, Chima (I think?), and city. They all either bored me, or I just thought they were a step up from duplo on the seriousness factor.
@@haydenbritt1237 star wars sets were getting repetitive, that's what made me stop buying 'em. I loved SW the Clone Wars, but they never made sets for it apart from the 2008-2012 line
I got the set at 3:08 years and years ago. I'd since reporposed it with the cockpit going to a spaceship, the chainsaw going to some bloke I called "Tom", and the minifigure's head going to some sort of villainous robot war general called "Galac Attack". (My dad came up with the name.)
3:48 really like the mine mech(8957), good play value in a small package I like how the rollcage piece - by virtue of being used on a relatively small model - ends up really defining the shape of it in a way I find very charming. just wish the legs weren't so awkward
I'm actually in the middle of modifying my own into the Rock Raiders colorscheme, since I figured it would be the best of both worlds (the better aesthetic + the better functions). I'd say it's a better time than ever to do so now that teal is back, but of course Lego isn't producing the proper brown and gray shades anymore, and there's no socket bricks in old dark gray, so I have to make do with what I got
I love both these themes. I have a couple Power Miners sets and I was too young for Rock Raiders, but Rock Raiders left an incredible impression on me later due to it being highlighted in a way out of date Lego Encyclopedia at a local library and the fact that my cousin handed down the Rock Raiders game along with a PS1 and other games to me when I was ten.
I was super into power miners growing up, one of my favorite memories was from Christmas Day and me and my mom spent all day building the big set with the spinning scoop wheel that spun when you moved the vehicle forward
I loved rock raiders. I had the chrome crusher and the pc game. As a kid I loved the character driven minis and clear story. I remember some 'comics' of images of the sets + 'photoshop' in my school library the idea of a cannon story was exciting without stopping you making your own fun.
I loved Power Miners so much, I bought every single set besides the two mini ones since they were never at my stores. I still have them away packed in boxes.
Honestly, all I really remember is-- A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!!!!! --the wonderfully hammed-up captain voiceover in the game Also I think when I played the first Dead Space it kinda made me think of this. Don't think I had any of the sets-- far as I remember I was more into the Slizers.
I can just imagine someone having like a hall, full of Lego, like one of EVERY Lego set ever created, and the entire thing is set up like this HUGE interconnected storyline where everything has a purpose and meaning behind it, like the cities are from the Lego City Sets (of course) but further away there's the fantasy sets, sci fi sets, heck, even platforms for sets that okay off on other planets, or like the avengers and justice league, alongside transformers and the robots from Pacific Rim. And this _'world'_ includes old and modern sets (Idk why I went into detail that much, but this would be awesome.)
I did have some Power Miners and I enjoyed the functionality and some of the sets like the sweeper one in the first wave did things I didn't know lego could _reliably_ do.
I like the sets with lots of transparent pieces. I really like the power miners sets because of the functions and the little rock monsters with their gem compartments.
The Rock Raider video game was actually pretty interesting. I played it as a kid and played it again later. It was a bit easy as an adult, but challenging as a kid. But well, it was not a bad game.
I would love to see a theme with a similar color scheme and aesthetic as Rock Raiders, but with the new mechanics and building techniques Lego has developed over the years. Since I never bought any Power Miners sets, I'd love to get something similar to them but with a darker setting.
An idea I'd love to do for a mining theme. The Rock monsters building mining machines to harvest crystals. Maybe even competing with each other until they find out the deeper they go, the more they discover their planets secrets.
For some resin some of the Lego City builds popped into mind, going with the crystal or gold peaces, going with Lego City Arctic, Mining Experts, or Volcano Explorers. Some resin could see someone taking what bricks they have an building something close to the Power Miners or Rock Raiders but with out the BIG minifig maybe, I know I would try to build something close to it. Think I've seen more of the Power Miners, never picked any of the set's up but they looked pretty cool from what I saw on the commercials.
I freaking LOVE the power miner theme. Got every set in the first two runs, the third wave came when I moved states and I ended up mission out on all but one ;-;. sadly I was only like 4 years old when rock raiders came out but I have always liked them and accumulated a couple sets over the years
I definitely loved the Rock Raider's universe and story line, and all the characters were very distinct and memorable. And boy was kid me super disappointed that their ship, LMS Explorer never had an official model
In my humble opinion... Power miners is the best unlicensed LEGO Theme toy wise! The functionality for each were both simple and gripping. Aesthetically it isn’t as good as most space themes but, they don’t grow old!
I loved power miners and lego Mars mission SO WOW I DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS A NICE MIX OF THESE. I WISH I HAD MONEY AND WOULD BE ABLE TO GET ALL OF THESE OLD SETS MAN
you seam to forget that most of the biger rockraider sets included electronicks in the for of a "mininglaser". I do have a few powerminer sets but I wish I had had the posibility to have grabed some of the powerminers sets.
I haven't been feeling the best lately (darn Hyperglycemia), but this video helped me feel a little better. I saw Power Miners a few times on store shelves back when it was released, but I never went out of my way to actually get any of the sets. I was burned out with LEGOS at the time, so I just said "Eh, this looks cool, but I ain't getting this." Rock Raiders looks cool, if only for the first big fig. I know that's shallow, but it's a cool tidbit if you ask me.
Man I loved the power miners, came out when I was in the last year of elementary school, those were the days ^^ The rock monsters are still among my favorite “minifigs”, The only two monsters that I don’t own are the red big monster and the red lava monster, maybe I’ll order them on eBay one day ^^
Oh I love Rock Raiders especially the colour scheme, great! (I actually think the game was one of the best ones, Lego ever made) Power Miners was quite nice to though.
I actually played that game years ago when Gametap was still a thing. I think you should give it a go if you ever have a method to do so. It was pretty decent, and a bit challenging in places.
Looking back, I think Power Miners was alright. I never got any of the sets, but I like the colour schemes of the first year and the designs of the sets were pretty cool. It was also nice to see some of Bionicles pieces get some love outside of its own line.
I think a lot of success of Rock Raiders come from solid choice of "industrial" colors and designs that appeal to parents/granparents AND addition of sci-fi elements for kids. If you're interested in what can be done with greys, browns, turqoise and neon colors look at art of gamedev MORDS (he made Primordia and now works on Hibernaculum, both are in this "dirty hi-tech" style) I had set with dozer and rock monster (4950), it was really cool and I wish my parents could afford more sets from that theme.
I remember going to a old friend’s house and he had a power miners set it was one of the smaller ones. he showed me the videos online and i was hooked. unfortunately i couldn’t find any of the sets. I still want that sweeper set that picks up rocks and gems
Actually, I recall that Power Miners actually did get a complete ending in a two-page LEGO Club Magazine comic. If my memory is correct, the bigfig in the Lavatraz set was the last of the Rock Monsters, and by defeating him the earthquakes stopped happening. 1. Love the IT crowd reference
2. Either yelling guys unboxing or a little kid or a silent video with stop motion building it for a minute
Bruh
I loved the Rock Raiders game, might have been one of the best LEGO games ever.
Earven same yo, same
That synth music was excellent too!
I got the game as a gift when I was 10 years old. The last time I played it was 2 years ago, when I was 24!
Just so you know, someone is making a free remake of the PC game in the Unreal engine, called Manic Miners.
6 words LEGO Star Wars the complete saga
"Then, at the other end of the spectrum, you have aliens; a dark and grim universe where humans aren't valued" .... clearly you've never heard of warhammer 40k!
Too true, too true. lol
I was about to comment this. Alien looks sanitized compared to a day in 40k.
He must hear about the Emperor of Man.
I was just looking for this
True

Rock raider sets are super expensive on the secondary market. It's a shame, cause eventually I'm going to buy them all. 🤣
Power Miners are still my favourite Lego sets of all time.
It's nice to see that someone else remembers them
I had the PC version of the Rock Raiders video game back in the early 2000's and played it a lot (but never beat it), so it's pretty nostalgic for me even though I didn't get any of the sets until much later.
The best thing I remember about Power Miners is the tie-ins it had with the Clutch Powers Movie.
I remember seeing Lego Power Miners when I was growing up. Now that I look back at many of these themes, I appreciate them better than I did in my day, so I thank you for all the themes you've been able to cover overall.
I sure love me some Rock Raiders! Great video, as always Nick.
Was looking for this one
Omg this is so fun going through all this videos and seeing all the old sets I saw and sometimes had when I was a kid. I'm only 25 now but I feel super old XD thanks for making these videos man
In my opinion it’s kinda nice when themes just end because you get to make how it ends but only if the story is more blunt not a mortal blow
Ah Power Miners, probably my favorite Lego Theme from my childhood.
I loved playing with legos as a kid, but I was never a lego maniac. It was mostly because my family never had too much money at their hands to buy toys, so all I had was a box of old bricks with a few other old sets thrown in as well.

Good ol' Power Miners. I swear, I'll have the phrase "Let's get that double-geared drill on the Thunder Driller" in my head until the day I die.
I still have the scene of the miner throwing the dynamite in a rock monster's mouth yelling "Hey Rocky! Catch!!" In my head after all these years
I'd like to see a revisited episode about these themes. I just yearn for the mines
I didn't grow up with Rock Raiders as I was just getting into Lego at the time those sets were released (had to start with Town and such). The world and characters of that theme seem interesting. Certainly see the Alien visual cues.

Just bought Rock Raiders set (the one with drill, dish and laser on top) and went to re-watch this video so I can appreciate the set even more!
I loved Rock Raiders so much as a kid and even as an adult I really dig the vibe and aesthetic it has. I remember as a kid playing with them in the dark with flash lights to better emulate the caves in my brain and it just created this unforgettable atmosphere to little me.
I remember my friend having a rock raiders game. I would come over and watch him play. I kinda miss that game.
Man, power miners was one of the first Lego themes I ever really got into(the first being bionicle and the second being aqua raiders 07), and I'm honestly surprised at how well a lot of those sets held up over the years
Man, Aqua Raiders was great. So clean. Atlantis is basically the same thing, just more loud and with more of a story.
NickonAquaMagna there's a dead Aqua raiders guy in the biggest Atlantis set
Is Lego just doing a thing, where they revive a theme under a new coat of paints, 15 years after it died?
Are we gonna get "Neo Ninjas!" in the 2030s?
Is it the same corpse that was being digested by the octopus in Aqua Raiders?
NickonAquaMagna Possibly, I do know it's from the shark gate set in Atlantis. I'm also extremely happy as Jangbricks and Just2Good inspired me to build my two Lego power miners sets, while watching this video I've been playing with them (The crystal sweeper 3:42 and mine mech 3:37)

The old lego intro is nostalgic
"Time before the time before time"
On the island of Mata nui 6 canisters arived on the beach and out came tale 6 toa
Six canisters washed up on a golden beach.
Both these themes were fun and interesting, rock raiders was revolutionary in bringing us our very first big fig, were as rock raiders had some interesting sets, overall I prefer reck raiders but power miners is also fun, I just prefer the style and story of rock raiders
Atlantis was so dope. Really had some great minifigs
The power miners music was solid too i’d be watching tv and add would come on and then BOOM EPIC DRILLS AND MUSIC one of my favourite Lego themes
I loved the powerminers stuff, the comercials were great and the rock monster videos were great
Absolutely LOVE the use of ratchet dreadlock music🙌🏽
power miners was the best theme I ever experienced as a kid. I even got all the sets!
Power miners is extremely nostalgic to me. I adored those technic action features as a kid!
Really never owned any of these sets but I love watching your video, gives me ideas on my Lego Space Mountain Mining Moc that I'm building as we speak. Thank you for the inspiration
Power Miners was resolved in a comic in the Club Magazine.
Yeah. I think they're planning these themes out to last longer.
I can’t help but look back to when I used to have a few power miners sets with nothing but nostalgic fondness.
Holy shit you just brought back so many memories with that vintage lego intro
Power Miners was my favorite theme growing up. Great vid man keep up the work!
I got the set at 3:08 years and years ago. I'd since reporposed it with the cockpit going to a spaceship, the chainsaw going to some bloke I called "Tom", and the minifigure's head going to some sort of villainous robot war general called "Galac Attack". (My dad came up with the name.)
3:48 really like the mine mech(8957), good play value in a small package
I like how the rollcage piece - by virtue of being used on a relatively small model - ends up really defining the shape of it in a way I find very charming. just wish the legs weren't so awkward
Honestly, all I really remember is--
A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!!!!!
--the wonderfully hammed-up captain voiceover in the game
Also I think when I played the first Dead Space it kinda made me think of this.
Don't think I had any of the sets-- far as I remember I was more into the Slizers.
I loved the power miners so much as a kid. The fact the rock monsters could open their mouths blew my mind.
Watching these is making me want to get into collecting Lego again!
Enjoying these immensely :)
God this just hit me with a level of nostalgia I forgot even existed. I loved that video game.
And this _'world'_ includes old and modern sets
(Idk why I went into detail that much, but this would be awesome.)
I did have some Power Miners and I enjoyed the functionality and some of the sets like the sweeper one in the first wave did things I didn't know lego could _reliably_ do.
Loved power miners so much, I miss it!!! Really great vid!!!
i had power miners. such a good theme. i hope lego do something like this again maybe in a few years time.
Power miners was my jam, like, I could barely afford to buy them but my god I STILL DID
I like the sets with lots of transparent pieces. I really like the power miners sets because of the functions and the little rock monsters with their gem compartments.
I loved the crystals they had with power miners. They were fun pieces to have.
The Rock Raider video game was actually pretty interesting. I played it as a kid and played it again later. It was a bit easy as an adult, but challenging as a kid. But well, it was not a bad game.
haha the lego rock raiders set made me so happy
I would love to see a theme with a similar color scheme and aesthetic as Rock Raiders, but with the new mechanics and building techniques Lego has developed over the years. Since I never bought any Power Miners sets, I'd love to get something similar to them but with a darker setting.
The best lego series when I was a kid!
Power miners were my favorite and first LEGO sets. I miss them.
Got every set in the first two runs, the third wave came when I moved states and I ended up mission out on all but one ;-;. sadly I was only like 4 years old when rock raiders came out but I have always liked them and accumulated a couple sets over the years
I used to have a bunch of the power miner sets, brings back memories.
I freakin' loved the Rock Raiders game and sets!
This series is great! These r the sets I grew up w : D
That's something I'll have to mention in the update video coming up.
I haven't been feeling the best lately (darn Hyperglycemia), but this video helped me feel a little better. I saw Power Miners a few times on store shelves back when it was released, but I never went out of my way to actually get any of the sets. I was burned out with LEGOS at the time, so I just said "Eh, this looks cool, but I ain't getting this."
Rock Raiders looks cool, if only for the first big fig. I know that's shallow, but it's a cool tidbit if you ask me.
Man I loved the power miners, came out when I was in the last year of elementary school, those were the days ^^
The rock monsters are still among my favorite “minifigs”, The only two monsters that I don’t own are the red big monster and the red lava monster, maybe I’ll order them on eBay one day ^^
I remember as a kid I got that drill Mech at a garage sale long after the line had ended. I loved that thing, still wish I had it in a complete form.
5:03 can confirm this, because I own those sets twice, and the titanium drill rig 3 times...
Power Miners was my jam. Love it.
power miners was the only theme that I got every single set from the first year, sad to see it go it was a huge part of my childhood
Looking back, I think Power Miners was alright. I never got any of the sets, but I like the colour schemes of the first year and the designs of the sets were pretty cool. It was also nice to see some of Bionicles pieces get some love outside of its own line.
Power Miners was my favourite Lego series when i was little.
I think a lot of success of Rock Raiders come from solid choice of "industrial" colors and designs that appeal to parents/granparents AND addition of sci-fi elements for kids. If you're interested in what can be done with greys, browns, turqoise and neon colors look at art of gamedev MORDS (he made Primordia and now works on Hibernaculum, both are in this "dirty hi-tech" style)
I had set with dozer and rock monster (4950), it was really cool and I wish my parents could afford more sets from that theme.
I remember going to a old friend’s house and he had a power miners set it was one of the smaller ones. he showed me the videos online and i was hooked. unfortunately i couldn’t find any of the sets. I still want that sweeper set that picks up rocks and gems
