Hello, I do not usually comment on videos that I see about mechanics teachings, but this time I did because this video with this information was of great help to me, because my Toyota matrix did not want to start the engine, I only hear a small noise when I turn the key. but only that and after seeing this video I knew what was causing that and I went straight to the RELAY and took it out then I went to the AutoZone to buy a new one and put it in and right away I started my car and the mechanic wanted to charge me 100 an hour to diagnose the problem and thanks to this video I saved that money a thousand thanks because there are people who take the time to teach us and thus know the possible causes of the problem thanks.
Loved the video and advice. I don't have any of those testing devices so I opted to just buy the relay for $40 and it worked like a charm. If that didn't work it was going into the shop in hopes of finding someone with your skills. Thanks so much for saving me some money and lots of time and headache.
Thanks for the video, a question, my matrix 2009 starter stay engaged one second after the engine run , what could be the problem thanks to answer me back
I have the same problem currently , I got new starter battery and relay but still no crank no start , don’t have the tools to test anything really , any advice or further troubleshooting steps if it’s not the relay either??
"I wrench under my tree but terrible at troubleshooting. I smiled when U replaced the relay and started the car"!! Can't wait to get back to my trees and try this out.
Your video just made my day! I have a 2003 Matrix with the exact same problem! (Original owner) I already replaced the IGNITION SWITCH! RATZ! I did not know the Matrix had a starter relay! Arrrgh!

This gentleman did a very good job of explaining every step of the process. Thank you sir
The power probe is something I hope to buy! Thanks from Canadian westcoast!
That's the same car as a pontiac vibe
Thank you for reconfirming what I tell mechanics and parts guys.
Thanks for the video, I might have the same problem, a failing relay that magnetizes intermittently. I'll reply once I know.
Thanks for the video, a question,
my matrix 2009 starter stay engaged one second after the engine run , what could be the problem thanks to answer me back
Great video! You can access the relay easier by popping off the heater vent bezel above that and reach it from the top :)

Wait, What ? How did you get to test the relay pins in the fuse block , there is no room what so ever, its driving me crasy
You could remove the vent above it on the matrix pry it out with a flat head

Jose Nieves sorry just got your post.. hope all went well. What was the fix?
Will replacing the starter fix this?
jesus saquin Test the starter first.
Give 12 volts to the skinny wire on the starter! If it cranks... the starter is not the problem
Brilliant , thanks
So I had a bad relay buy then it happened again after I replaced it with a new one .. two days later
Sam Echegoyen
