The Lucky Tug, in association with The Unlucky Tug presents, "The Unlucky Tug". I love the sound of that. 8:36 And we get an all new "Okay, Boomer" joke. I miss Boomer being a total nihilist, but it's still funny seeing antics that happen because of his bad luck. And I love that you used the deleted scene with Izzy. It comes out of nowhere, and it's hilarious.
Yeah, it's so good.

I like to think in SL he puts on a front but is cynical deep down.
I like how you went with the ending of Boomer simply losing his bad luck rather than him becoming a houseboat.

Well folks, We’ve finally reached the episode where the channel known as “The Unlucky Tug” got it’s name. I've really been enjoying this series so far, if this was the version of Tugs we got in the US, I would’ve enjoyed it way more than Salty’s Lighthouse. Fantastic job as always Nic!!
Now this is what I call having deleted scenes from a scrapped script into a children's show that had treated an 80s show wrong, and had edited audio from it to go along with those scenes.
I really like how the renamed title of this episode is named after the main channel “The” Unlucky Tug and that ending of the shot where it transitions to the end credits of that same episode is awesome!
Honestly, I was prepared for this one to be one of the weaker eps. I mean, Boomer without his sarcasm and death wish just isn't as fun. BUT THE SIZZLE REEL EDITS! Oh man, beautifully integrated into the episode and just so satisfying to watch play out like this. That really made this an episode worth watching.
I think re-incorporating the cut footage like this is a magnificent idea, and I hope you consider doing it for Tugs the U.S. dub when you're able to come back to that project.
I mean, 8:46 kinda gives off his sarcastic vibes once again.
I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this before, but having Richard Browning as Captain Star was such a clever idea. Not only does he sound great voicing Captain Star, but it's also such a smart way to make the plot work. Without Captain Star, it would probably be REALLY tricky making the plot work the way it does in the actual show. Very clever use of the narrator and using him to transition from one scene to another. Great work as always!
4:08 - The iconic face!
What I like most about this Lighthouse Edit is you taking advantage of the footage from the Sizzle Reel! It's like an alternate timeline where Clearwater Features did released the original 30 minute cuts of "Sunshine" and "Jinxed" on VHS to help recover from budget losses and Salty's Lighthouse still used the footage from those two cuts. The ending here further supports my stance on this as many will know that the early drafts of "Jinxed" had many alternate endings of which Boomer was not turned into a houseboat. This maybe my favorite Lighthouse Edit!

I have a feeling that a very confused Ian Corlett is soon gonna have fans approaching him for an "Okay Boomer" soundbite.
I wonder if anybody who worked on SL knows how it came to be. There’s a story there.

I hate how well the Zip and Zug quips during the night scene fit in with the setting, if I didn’t know any better I’d have thought that SL actually used restored sizzle reel footage for that exact moment

It must had been tricky to think of an ending without Boomer becoming a house boat.
Would've liked it if they included the shot of him there like a "Where is he now?" sort of shot.
Surprised he didn't keep that. Especially because that's almost exactly what happened in Salty's Lighthouse.
@@pgj1997Indeed. Maybe the house boat thing could had worked as a dream while Boomer waited for Ten Cents and Sunshine. And after the dream, Boomer says "That's never gonna happen".
@@thomaswalsh8726 I hope the Bigg Freeze episode has an epilogue where Captain Star wraps up the story by telling where the Tugs went onto.
Boomer performing well with sailboat enough to become a vacation boat himself.
Cranes and some tugs being sold overseas to the Island of Sodor. Maybe end on Ten Cents befriending Thomas in a hands off moment.
@@matt0044Since Tugs is being told by Captain Star from the future, I theorized that the very end of the series ends with the Star Fleet and Z Stacks working together to save their respective organizations during the Great Depression.
Their organizations end up merging but eventually go bankrupt. The tugs bid their captains a tearful farewell and anxiously await their future.
When it seems like they're off to be scrapped, Sir Topham Hatt purchases all of them so that he has tugboats working in Sudrian harbors.
From that point on, the Tugs story continues in Sodor in the present day, when an elderly Captain Star recounts the story.

I love how this episode is basically your adaptation when you hired Klurty and MurphyProductions to voice TC and Sunshine back in your older days of RUclips. Good job man!!

9:36 this would of been a great opportunity to end the episode with the final shot with no transition at all like those early classic seasons of Thomas but still staying true to TUGS’ ending

I think he re-incorporated sizzle reel footage into the ep. The quality looks a bit off, the SL voice lines aren't specific and stuff like the Gomez pier incident wouldn't have been lost if it was in SL.

@@epicdude8742 Yeah. Salty's Lighthouse only had access to what was finished and released. The four 20 minute episodes and all thirteen 15 minute episodes.

This is beautiful, shame Boomer the house boat wasn't in Salty's Lighthouse but this is a worth compromise, and with actual set up and pay off!
There actually was an episode that featured him as a houseboat. In fact, back when Salty's Lighthouse episodes were hard to find, that was one of the few episodes we had in English.

All luck and no death makes Boomer a dull tug...XD, I'm joking! But yeah, Boomer is one of many TUGS characters who got assassinated by "Salty's Lighthouse" and yet I have to give you credit for working within the confines of Salty while still managing to get the overall feeling of the original "Jinxed" episode down especially with using the sizzle reel footage which was a surprise.
I kind of like that Boomer comes off as a Stepford Smiler, a fake it til you make it type but gets the rug pulled out from under him.

I did wonder how you would put in the Houseboat scene considering the first SL adaptation of Jinxed didn't feature that and instead, it was shown in another episode where Ten Cents tells Zip and Zug about Boomer. I didn't expect you to end up not using that scene at all.

This story has a great ending compared to the original. In Jinxed, I'll admit I felt bad for Boomer when he was taken out of commission, and I think he could've honestly redeemed himself so that his supposed bad luck would go away.

I sort wish they keped Boomer having his new job as a house boat. But I did some parts of the story an. Like how they keped Boomer's chrarictor simaler to how he was in Tugs. Did they use footage from the 20 minite cut of jinxed? Hope you have a great day!
