Yeah, especially the Zelda and Splatoon-themed villagers, like Wolf Link, Epona, Inkwell, etc.. I mean, if they added the Sanrio-themed villagers and content to New Horizons, there's absolutely no reason why the Zelda and Splatoon-themed villagers shouldn't be there.
Their big mistake was not letting us save an island and then start over. Being able to pull up my old islands if I wanted would definitely keep me playing. I spent so much time on my island and made it exactly how I envisioned and would never delete it.
I totally agree. If Minecraft can have numerous worlds saved, why can't Animal Crossing save multiple islands? Even an island extension option would be nice. Too many hours of work go into our islands to start over.
I agree tho I still have things plenty of things to compete and do on my animal crossing island and theirs a lot I have done as well and I've had the game for as long had I have had my Nintendo switch since 2021 but I'm not always playing it now cause when I am using my switch I'm mostly playing something else or gaming with my husband when our two month old baby girl is sleeping and/or when we're not holding or feeding her she was born last year on the 8th of November
Agreed. I’ve continued playing over the last 5 years but that’s because my finished island got transferred to my husband’s switch where it’ll live forever.
Because once greedy companies like this receives their big payout there is no reason to work on the game so they abandon the game completely. I stopped playing this game years ago after I noticed their greedy ways. Play stardew valley way way better farming sim overall and still receives updates to this day. Then to add insult to injury they tell their players to restart their games.. so basically “no we won’t be updating the game ever but just restart your island and shazam! It’s a new game again !”
It'd be relatively cheap and easy to create new articles of clothing and umbrellas---draw a new bitmap and scan it over existing models, and boom, you've got some content that wasn't there before. Adding more furniture would be better, and adding ways for players to build the kinds of puzzles that they had for MayDay would've been even better.
The weird part about New Leaf is they actually mostly gave up with that game a year after it came out which is odd because City Folks had about 4 years of wifi gift support where the other two barely made it pass a year.
Good for you. Stand by your island. Too many people seem ready to throw it all away for the quick excitement of starting over. I think they forgot how much trudgery there was in amassing all their furniture, clothes, and DIYs.
@@sonicguyver7445I could NEVER do that to my island, I’ve had it since the game launched and I put in SO many hours into it, deleting that would be like having all of those last 4 years go to waste.
I haven’t played in at least a year or two, and honestly I was recently thinking about playing it again and restarting. Also partly because I did some time traveling and did not get the museum update somehow, but I agree - I am reluctant to leave behind my villagers and progress from before. Maybe not Rasher tho lol, I remember levaing him alone so he could move out 💀 just not my type of villager. I was shocked and scared when he first moved to my island. Oh and honestly the cooking thing. Idk much about it, but seems really fun!
i really wish they hadn't abandoned the game. there was still so much missing from the game. multiplayer mini game islands, celestes tower, more building upgrades, improved dialogue for the villagers, more villagers on an island, better multiplayer features when joining a friend....
It wasn't abandoned. Most of the previous games didn't even get updates (since they were completed on launch), so I'm assuming that's why so many new players to the series are expecting them with this new iteration.
One game save per console is never enough, and I would have preferred that Nintendo let us have as many game saves as the storage in our Switches would allow. I've never understood the one island per console limitation, but If Nintendo is trying to boost engagement or sales or whatever by doing it, then they should push a Switch system patch that allows us one island per cartridge owned. I bet that there are a lot more Animal Crossing fans who would be willing to cough up sixty dollars for another cartridge, than there are people who were willing to buy an entirely new Switch AND buy the game again, just to get another island. Edit: Bob's Gang!
Currently, as long as you have physical cartridge, you can use the same one between systems tho? Since save data is on the system instead of the cartidge. So it's only a new system unless you bought digitally, THEN it would be a new system and rebuy of the game. (I'm just being a bit nitpicky with the end of what you said, I agree with everything else you said)
I have a feeling that the reason they're doing that is because if you're only allowed only one save it feels more like YOUR island. It feels more unique and helps you bond with it. Then again, they're suggesting restarting for a fresh new start so this is a bit contradictory to my theory.
My thought is that it's a technical thing more than anything. If they've created special tools for saving and transferring saves, it must take up a lot of room. Either that, or they don't want you saving your island to an SD card and trading it for cash or whatever. Or there is some part of using the game that accesses a server at nintendo that might get overloaded if there are too many islands? So I think resources is one part, perhaps discouraging (or minimizing) manipulation of the game for profit is another, all under the cover of saying it should be a cooperative family effort. In actuality it just makes everyone want to be on their own island. 🤣
@Hazmatti I had one on my husband's Switxh and then he got me my own. We didn't know how to transfer my stuff on his to mine, so everything that I had done to my house, stuff and everything was lost and I had to start from scratch. Is why my island is called 2nd Chance.
I'm the same way too. Had the same start up island since day one. And I do still play it! Though obviously it's no where near as much as before. But no way in Heck am I going to restart everything! Especially since there are certain items that were exclusive to those first couple of years of the game's release. No way of getting them back outside of trading with another player.
I'm NEVER reset my island. An island has memories in it. Plus, if there's new content, I still won't. I have my favorite villagers, my bffs, my gf on there, hundreds of hours of care on my island. I'll NEVER reset it in my life! Not even for anything nintendo could offer!
If they wanted us to keep playing they should have respected us more as customers and maintained and updated the game to make it worth while. They should also allow us to unlock the full catalog so we can access all the build items if we restart and a one-click option to flatten islands. So no... until they make some quality of life changes and real updates for longtime players I won't be coming back. More likely they want people to get back into it to sell merchandise. Nothing to do with getting us to play more.
I wish they would offer an island flattening experience. Where you pay one of the npc’s to come in and flatten your island, giving you a way to soft reboot your island.
I absolutely REGRET restating! I didn't realize how DEMANDING the game was for our time because I had to GRIND FOR DAYS just to get terraforming! Plus, I still have to wait days to reorganize my island(move buildings, add/remove bridges/inclines)! At this point I see why so many people time travel because if I have to WAIT AN ENTIRE DAY JUST TO CHANGE ONE THING AT A TIME, I'm basically just wasting a day since some redesigns I have in mind require me to move a building or remove an old bridge! So that's just an entire day wasted on step 1, and years down the drain because of how bored I was with the game. I don't know how good the old AC games were, but I heard they're WAY better than NH. All I do now is hope the next game is at least better than NH.
Yeah, waiting an entire day sucks but time traveling also sucks 'cause saving and loading the game is so slow 😂 Even earning bells without other players help is such a hassle😂 Not related but And it's unfortunate that they didn't add train tracks and the train doesn't move around the island!😂 Hope they add more features like moving objects in the next game since the new switch should be more powerful than the current one. And let players have more freedom when it comes to customizing the interior/exterior of the house😅
How hard is it for Nintendo to understand, if they want us to play the game again - release more new content! When they wanted to kick things up a notch, they released a bunch of new stuff in the Welcome Amiibo update for New Leaf - it seriously would not kill them to do something like that for New Horizons when not even HALF of the catalogue from New Leaf is available in New Horizons, a lot of the available furniture sets are not even complete, many of the activities need a refresh.
I just started playing again after 4 years and 6 months. I fell out of it due to my work schedule and got disheartened being so behind. But I had a change of heart when someone I know still plays. Made me miss my Villagers. I am now terraforming and doing the DLC. I am having a blast. I just wish I could rename my island to match this current stage in my life. Thank you for your videos!
@Crowsandstarlings I had one I didn't recognize, Admiral, when I got back. But I remember hunting for Dreamies before I left the game. I have Bunnie, Chelsea, Chai, Tia, Marshal, Zucker, Bertha, Puddles, Gayle, and Admiral. I am planning to get Tangy and Sprinkle, which will move out Bertha and Admiral. I love Bertha, but Tangy and Sprinkle have always been on my Dreamie list.
New horizons needed so many quality of life updates that it never got and it has all these incredible features that are severely hindered by stupid choices. How on earth we never got bulk crafting is the dumbest possible crab for a sandbox type game. It makes the game infuriating long term.
When I look in my closet and see how much clothes I have and know that I had to grind at the store wasting so much time buying ONE SINGLE ITEM AT A BLOODY TIME.. I can't believe it. Why wouldn't they give us the option to "add to cart" and then when we're done shopping, cash out like a normal store?! Doesn't make any sense at all.
@@Bomber411Fr even that one little annoyance grew big enough to make me want to quit until they patched it with better quality of life... then they never did lol.
@@EternaMidnight same here. It was upsetting me so much that I actually didn't go back in her store for the longest time. My friend at the time had Abel's first and I would shop in his store. I was so mad at Able that I didn't even want her on my island. You have to though at one point to advance your island, but I considered putting her on the back rocks or terraforming around her. I didn't, but I didn't go in the store for a long time. Even now I only pop in once in a blue moon. Finally did to speak to Sable and get her prints. I just can't stand the thought of how much time I wasted in her stupid store. Pissing me off now again just thinking about it.
@@shelby_lane_ Good luck! I JUST completed my art museum. Soo many trips to Harv's Island to buy forged junk from Redd. I even started a second character so I could clean out Redd's inventory every day, and it still took years. Don't give up! P.S. I'm curious: what are the last four pieces that you're looking for? For me, it came down to the Great Statue and the Motherly Statue. I have a theory that different island types have different probabilities for things like art, fish, etc.
@@whistlingsage9817I think you could be right. Not only about the art etc but the items that show up in our stores. Some items just never show up and I've had to ask while visiting others if they mind me shopping at their store or if I can buy certain items I see. I've been playing since 2021 and just last night while delivering some hybrid flowers to a newer player, I got into their store and they had the covered wagon in there. This item has never showed up for me yet. My Nook's is like a 2nd hand garbage store but not a good 2nd hand, one that sells trash. Anyway, I bought all the expensive items for sale and some wrapping paper in the guy's favourite colour and gifted them to him. So that way he could have these expensive items he likely couldn't afford, and I got to catalogue that covered wagon. As soon as I got home, I ordered it. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen. There are certain DIYs that never show up got me either while I can guarantee when I go into a villager's home to get what they're crafting, it won't be new to me. Same stuff all the time.
Fossils are different. There's a set of fossils that can be found in the southern hemisphere that can't be found in the northern hemisphere. And vice versa. Every fossil I turn in has been discovered but I think I filled my bug and fish catalog. And I think all art is obtainable regardless of region. I have to check on those things. I haven't really sat down and played the game in a quite a while. So I'm just going on memory.
@@HiroHatakeI don't think that's true about fossils. I finished my fossils in this game and every game before without having to trade them with anyone.
Speaking of Villagers missing us, hopefully next game when I abandon the game for 3+ years maybe not have them just go like 'oh hey your still alive' and then business as usual.
Same, I’ve been playing since release and it’s my favorite game ever, I got most of my dream villagers (some of them I just grew too attached to and can’t find the courage to let them go, until my Mom can get her own switch cus she wants to play the game with me)
@@peggynicholson2639 first you have to friend them on your switch, then you open the gates to your island in the airport, and finally your friend will select to go to someone else’s island at their airport and select to go to your island after selecting “I want to fly”
I had to restart my island when I got the OLED and the game has never been the same for me. That first island was nearly perfect and I've never been able to get it back. I just recently restarted again and now I think I'm just done with New Horizons. This time I haven't even gotten to KK's concert.
They should’ve done something similar to one of the later updates to New Leaf; give players the ability to sell their island but keep their catalog/learned DIYs.
Honestly (as a person who played almost the whole series) I think every AC's games have some lacks. That said, although probably it will remain a dream, I hope Nintendo would take the best features from each chapter and put them in a new update or at least in a new game in the series for Switch 2. By the way, I restarted my island two times because I wasn't fully satisfied, but I'm (finally) creating the right one so...even if I'll finish literally everything (redecor my parents' and villagers' houses, catch every fish/sea creature/bugs and find all art) I'll NEVER reset it again. I did it with NL (unfortunately my Ds and Wii died...) and I'll do the same with NH even without any updats. This game literally helped me in my darkest years. (Forgive me if I made any mistakes, but english it's not my native language.)
If they want us to play it more/again, they need to add more content as they had once promised, and expand the amount of villagers we can have and the size of the island or more islands. I could never restart my game from scratch by deleting the save that made the years around 2020 bearable. Certainly not after the painstaking effort of redecorating their home interiors (which should be a base-game addition not DLC dependant). I'm hoping the next Animal Crossing game being on a stronger Switch 2 will have many of the features ACNH lacked. And actually be supported instead of abandoned.
I could never restart my island. Too much time and work put into it. The only way I could see myself making a new island is if I had a hacked Switch that gave me access to all ACNH items from the start for free.
I restarted last year and I both regret it but at the same time don't? I noticed myself missing a lot of the late-game progress stuff + items when starting again, but on the other hand it was a whole new experience playing it from the start with all the 2.0 update content in it. I had bought my game right when it first came out so a lot of the progress was already made when 2.0 dropped and I got bored of the stuff quicker. Now I find myself enjoying a lot of the things and as I've developed my island I don't regret restarting so much anymore. If you plan to restart just know that it's going to take a lot of time and effort to get back to where you were, and some bits will feel old because you've played through it already, but if you persevere it can be a fun new experience as well~
If they had some way of transferring progress like in New Leaf Welcome Amiibo, (yet another feature that NH never got) I might've wanted to restart. As is, though, I wouldn't want to start the tedious grind for materials and bells again, as there'd barely be anything different gameplay-wise.
They could easily just up and start adding new content and watch sales soar. Like No Man’s Sky still does to the day. It just shows how much is possible when there’s real passion involved. Possibilities are truly endless. With patches and new content you could add huge islands. Island dungeons. Add mining add anything you want. But they are stuck behind their own rules and regulations so 😂 They will make a new one at some point so sit tight and be patient
The only reason in still playing is because something went wrong with the island transfer from my OG switch to a new OLED one. I'm still trying to get all the DIYs and have one last villager to switch out. A patch making it easier to get DOYs you don't already have would be a blessing 😂 I'm just over 200 short of all of them and have a huge library that I keep forgetting to find people still playing who need DIYs to come along and take ones they don't have 😂😂
You'll probably want a successor console when its released, yeah? (It will be compatible with Switch titles) Just keep your old switch for a second island ;) If not, old switch consoles will likely flood the market cheap once it is released, you saved up for your first switch, you'll easily be able to afford a second.
I've restarted my island several times. I have 2 consoles and so 2 islands. My daughter has 1 and I gave both of my granddaughters each a ACNH switch and game. That never took off like I'd hoped. Now I play once a day for a few minutes just to pass time. I spent a lot of money on ACNH and don't regret it. However I'm no longer interested in starting over again. Bob's gang! Good video.
Not a hecking chance I'm restarting. I've been busting my arse to finish the museum for literal YEARS, no way am I doing that again. And DIY recipes! Those are a NIGHTMARE to collect! Why would I throw away all of this effort and work and results for...nothing? To be back at zero with NOTHING. I've done that over and over and OVER my entire life, I'm TIRED of having to start over because of the actions of other people, why the HECK would I want to do that in a game?? There isn't a chance I'll delete what I've done, I'm done with having to throw things away just because nobody else can comprehend things like "legacy" and cultivating something long-term. Putting a game down for a few years and coming back? Yeah, I'm used to that as well, but that's different, coming back is like putting on a cozy old coat or blanket or the like, good memories and things, and nothing is lost. And sometimes things come as a surprise, that I'd forgotten about some stuff, or made new discoveries with info I have then that I didn't before. Deleting? Yeah, no. Stuff like this, and the mainline Pokemon games on the Switch, are why I've given up on Nintendo, and that's genuinely depressing, as I played the old 8-bit games when they were current content, and have continued to enjoy their games to this day. Way to throw away your own legacy, Nintendo :-\ (Oh yeah, and Bob's Gang! :P)
I put years into my island I doubt I'll be starting over anytime soon. I got my 5 star rating And I was drawn back because I kind of missed just chilling and vibing with my villagers.Still want my wolf link and ganon 👀
I played new leaf for Years. But this was because you could reset and keep some money, your nook catalog and I could leave my favourite collectables in my siblings town and pick them up in the new save. Plus I could easily time travel when the pace got too slow. Allowing for multiple play styles. With new horizons you reset you lose Everything. I can leave stuff on my siblings island like before but the crafting recipes would all be gone. And the way you get those recipes is already so difficult it'd suck all the joy out. That's part of the reason I stopped playing the first time. All the updates'd come out but I couldn't get the recipes as fast as my inspiration and became discouraged. Especially because they're randomised most the time. Time travelling now requires you to mess with the whole console which is just annoying. The villagers aren't as worth it with the greatly reduced amount of personality. They shoulda done it so you could at least have different games on different game cards like new leaf. But no. I've considered redoing my island but frankly they make that horrificly difficult too. Terraforming takes ages and there's no way to store flowers and plant life you like. They could easily have added Leif having a place to store some plants fully grown and ready to plant if you'd like. They could have added an option to fully flatten all terraforming with Isabelle. But as it is they made a game to only be played while the updates were coming out. They seem surprised when it doesn't retain the cult following new leaf had when it wasn't built to last like new leaf did. (And even then there were issues with new leaf too that were better on Wii and GameCube) In the end I just find it sad. This series was my childhood but now due to the barriers to replayability I doubt it'll be a favourite going forward. Much like most of the switch games tbh. They've been slacking with the whole console. And I wouldn't be as mad if they'd just still support 3ds games and repairs for those consoles so I could play the games from when Nintendo was good.
I've been playing on the same island since day 1. i have all my dreamies there and yes i would prefer a different layout but even so i would never reset it, too many hours have gone into it lol and as another commenter pointed out, there's a lot of memories on the island too
Put it this way. If I wanted to restart my island, they should have updated or already had an option to do a "one time" sell your island like we could in New Leaf, selling the value of your town. You get to start over with the added interest as well. I shouldn't have to start over because I'm bored, lack a second Switch or burnt out from multiple soft resets of the same island almost 5 years in. Those are reasons that you can but I rather they update the game with more content or give the route that was option given in New Leaf.
I restart my island a lot lol. The best part of the game is taking a deserted island and getting it back to 3/5 stars. Genuinely wish this game had the same feature New Leaf had where you could "Sell your town" and start over while retaining all your personal stuff like emotes, catalogue, and youd start with more money than none depending on how long and how far you were with the town. Itd be nice if that feature existed on New Horizons.
tbh, i got bored like 3 years ago and stopped playing, i just recently started playing again and deff started a new island. this time instead of people giving me everything im earning it so i dont get bored again. My only issues with the game is i wish we could put briges from cliff to cliff without a waterfall under it, kinda like a bridge overpass. Also, the vacation island, shame we cant invite our friends to it like our regular island
@peggynicholson2639 You're not going to believe this, but I got Raymond from the very beginning of the game. I got him when I created the tent. He was just there 😁
I'm not creating a new island. Remodeling, yes. ACNH had much potential but lacked the continual updates and added features New Leaf and Pocket Camp had. Yes, Happy Home Designer added new features and development options, but the base game could be so much better had Nitendo not given up on New Horizons.
Never have I ever restarted an Animal Crossing save file. They're all little time capsules of my life. Sadly my GameCube one is failing. K.K. keeps asking me about reformating the memory card, sometimes I can turn it off and on and it loads correctly. But idk how much longer that'll work for 😭
I have mail from a friend I haven't heard from in a long time. I don't even know if they're doing ok or if they're still struggling with MH issues. There's no way I'm starting over and losing that.
I'll never restart my island. I invested so much time into making it my own and I still haven't finished my museum. I just wish we got an update once or twice a year. It would keep the game alive, see EA who are still keeping the Sims 4 alive (for better and for worse).
I restarted my island twice over the past almost 5 years, and part of it was due to the fact that I felt bad about missing out for so long. Another major part was I didn’t really have a vision for what I wanted, and I’d accidentally flooded my island with flowers and I was so overwhelmed about it-and I got sick of the names. If I could go back to my very first one and take my hybrid flowers, recruit my favorite villagers, and send over the items I’d want, I’d be totally happy. Even then, I’ve kind of liked the thrill of the grind and getting different villagers and trying over again while having something of a vision with a different map, and I don’t have any plans of restarting this one. There are pros and cons of both but I would love a few save files at least
My Forever island is on a Lite and I wouldn’t think of deleting it after 1,000’s of hours of game play and having it just like I want it now. I love the game so much I did splurge for an Oled a few years back. That is where I start new islands to try different themes. I love the beginning play of a new island. I’m currently putting aside $ for when the Switch 2 is released. Thank you for your videos. Always good vibes.
Technically speaking, you can have multiple islands. The Switch allows you to have multiple profiles, so you can just make multiple profiles and each one will have a fresh version of the game.
Why would a person restart there island especially if they have all the rare items like the Mario items eg warp pipe! I would never chance looseing those items!!!
To be fair the Mario items aren’t rare, they’re in the Nook Shopping app for every user. If you restart, you can get them again easily. There are lots of other rare items though.
5 years already?`time really flies wow. Its like yesterday I played with all my mates in NH while "working" from home PS: I just hopped back on an emulated New Leaf PC Version and I have so much MORE fun than in NH. See ya in the next AC Game on Switch2
I personally love restarting my island sometimes. I didn’t even know about this happening, but at the beginning of this year I restarted my island and started from scratch anyway! It gives me a new spark after not playing it for like a year
I maybe would be still playing, if there was enough furniture and clothes to collect etc. So many sets from older games, that we never even got in NH ...
I was in the Denver International Airport a few weeks ago, and saw a massive electronic ad for New Horizons over the security terminal. It was so weird.
One thing I think was a major mistake about New Horizons was only being able to set your name once. I for one had major issues with my first island when I first came out, and while you could just tell each villager to change your nickname to your new name, I still saw my deadname virtually everywhere my character was involved. I could imagine a lot of people like me would love the progress they’d made on their islands, but hate the fact that they couldn’t change their name without resetting entirely.
I saw a couple Animal Crossing vids in my recommendations and it made me check on mine again. And like, the reactions did make me feel bad for leaving for years, but also the nolstalgia of wandering around my island again, seeing what I did, all the other residents there. No way could I erase that.
I restarted the game last October because I did miss playing ACNH and I’m currently happy with my island. I purchased ACNH originally back in early 2021. I felt like it took too long for me to able to get KK Slider to my island so that I can unlock terraforming and really be able to make my island my own. When I got the game originally, COVID restrictions were still in place in my area at the time so I was only able to work part time (working retail during this time) and I was playing ACNH more often at that time and was able to unlock terraforming much quicker. Now in 2025, due to work, I am barely able check into resident services so I can claim my daily miles 😂 but I can honestly say I still do play at least once a day bc ACNH is somewhat therapeutic for me after coming home from a long day at work (I work in Vet Med now) I just don’t have the energy at this point anymore to restart a whole island.
I have been toying around with the idea of restarting my island. I got the terraforming skill & turned to youtube for inspiration, which actually left me feeling overwhelmed. I enjoyed the process of completing tasks and getting the island going, but didn't really want to put the time/effort into getting creative and perfecting the island. Starting over would give me the chance to be more considerate about placing things during early game in order to make a convenient and functional island. I can always get good screenshots of my favorite villagers and places on my island before I delete the data.
I don't understand. Why, what's the point in restarting new island again. Can't they figure out a way to transfer our dsta or give us more islands to explore. We need something different and to explore . Aventurero, please.
i do plan on restarting my island soon as i have almost every collectable fish\bug in the game, and ive had my current island since 2022. i've restarted twice, and i want to do it again just to revitalize the energy i had for it in the beginning. i love playing the start over again, it's so comfortable and cute and nothing feels like it has to be rushed. honestly i usually restart because decorating my island feels like too grand of a task for me, so i just begin again lol
I only just got back into the game after abandoning it for almost 2 years so I have no intentions of restarting when I just abandoned my island the first time and am only now doing with it what I wanted the first time. As far as ever restarting goes (say, if I finish my island by the end of 2025 and there's still no news of a new AC/new DLC or update till say 2027 or something), I've heard a lot of people save their dream address to go back and revisit an old island. Now I don't wanna lose my progress re: villagers, inventory, unlocked stuff, etc. So if I flattened my island and restarted *purely* the design aspect, would my dream island reflect those changes instead of preserving. I've seen everyone say that the dream address preserves the island as it was when the dream was created (which is why sometimes people update the address they share as they add new stuff), but when I Googled it, the Google search result told me significant changes will reflect in the dream too (significant like terraforming). But that was the AI answer so idk how much to trust it versus people's own experience. What's your experience? Does your dream address remain exactly as it was when you created it regardless of what you did after?
Absolutely NOT! I put way too much time into my island. But I did buy another switch that the owner was locked out of, for $50. Then I called Nintendo and got a code to unlock it. So I am lucky enough to have a second console.
My island was created on the day of release. I want to restart at times, but I can't destroy what I've created. Especially with the date created with release date on my card. I have a fully complete museum, 5 star island, and I'm fairly certain all of the DIYs. I recently started playing again and im interested in renovating everything. The big thing is just curbing my flowers!!! I wish there was a garden shed to store them for a period. It's time to start donating to those who did reset all my spare DIYs, hybrids, and spare items.
If they make the villagers much more interesting, I will play it again. Decorating houses doesn't keep me from playing, but the overall quality of the villagers. I reset my island, but don't have the appetite to play again, cuz I see the villagers somehow bland. Would love to see more interaction from them, or allow us to have a mini shop, and really be able to start our own bakery, or smoothies, or be able to set a community hangout with all the villagers, and you can pick which part of the island it will happen. So many things they can add up, but they leave us hanging just like that.
I know it's not for everyone, but you can have multiple islands with an emulator! With ACSM (Animal Crossing Saves Manager) you can create multiple islands and choose which one you want to play that time 😊
While I enjoyed a lot about the game, and the early game, there is no way I want to grind for DIY recipes again. I loved DIYs, but acquiring them is insane. I played over 3 to 4 thousand hours and am STILL missing some. And yes, we could have more than one island on a system that would be awesome.
They can suck it if they think I would delete all the items I collected, and I don’t wanna deal with that hassle of lending my stuff to someone else starting over and them giving it back to me.
I think having a sort of new game plus would be good for animal crossing. Like if you could start a new island but it remembers all of your old villagers and maybe they send letters to you with the option of them moving to your new island once there is room for them. That way you could start a new island without losing all of your progress.
As someone who is Autistic and has ADHD, I try to get on every day to do my chores but sometimes my ADHD makes me think I got on that day but it then turns out that I didn't so I end up missing a day and have to start my Nook Miles streak over and it frustrates me into obsessively playing every day again until my ADHD makes me miss a day. It's a vicious cycle. XD
When my son gifted me an OLED Switch I started a new island on there. I live in the northern hemisphere so my first island is in the northern hemisphere so I decided to start my new island in the southern hemisphere. I’ve not been happy with that decision for a long time now and even stopped playing. So for this reason, I’m considering restarting my island to have it in the northern hemisphere.
I regret starting over but I was also kinda forced into it bc I had issues where villagers would continue to wear things you'd accidentally gifted them and repeatedly asking the village rep to stop them just wasn't working. Nintendo refused to put in better optimisations and features and then abandoned the game with it feeling halffinished (villagers repeating dialogue, shop feels like it should've been customizable, unable to bulk craft/buy, campsite feature is almost useless) and then putting a bunch of furniture into paid DLC that should've been in base game. I'm slowly playing but honestly I'm not invested knowing the current limits of the game.
I included the Prologue music for a bit of early game nostalgia 👀
🎉🎉🎉
What is the prologue music called?
It definitely worked, although for some reason I find Resident Service Tent theme to be more nostalgic.

If they want people to start playing again maybe they should just add more content. The content that got left behind in new leaf.
Totally, like just pick back up on updates lol
Less focus on ACPC and more on ACNH. That'd be wonderful. Too much focus on ACPC. That's the biggest issue, Nintendo.
PLEASE ADD BACK THE ISLANDS PLEASEE
Yeah, especially the Zelda and Splatoon-themed villagers, like Wolf Link, Epona, Inkwell, etc.. I mean, if they added the Sanrio-themed villagers and content to New Horizons, there's absolutely no reason why the Zelda and Splatoon-themed villagers shouldn't be there.
Seriously, though, as I'd love the Puzzle League and Desert Island Escape minigames in New Horizons.
It'd be even cooler if your old villagers could swing through on holiday or something. Give some incentive to restart without the drawback of loss.
Agreed. I’ve continued playing over the last 5 years but that’s because my finished island got transferred to my husband’s switch where it’ll live forever.
Also I'm still in debt with tom nook before upgrading my house to have more than one room in my animal crossing house
This game had so much potential to receive some cool features like New Leaf had but they gave up on this game so quick 😢
Yes. The social aspect just isn't there the same
I partly blame PC when it was running for it, while i enjoyed that game too, it was obvious who the favorite child was
It'd be relatively cheap and easy to create new articles of clothing and umbrellas---draw a new bitmap and scan it over existing models, and boom, you've got some content that wasn't there before.
I REDO my islands but NOT RESTARTING..NO WAY am I losing all my progress, villagers, and items
I did redo my island, but only because when I girst played I was unhappy, and wanted to fix things, I'm more happy with it now
And recipes. Ugh still dont have them all😒
I haven’t played in at least a year or two, and honestly I was recently thinking about playing it again and restarting.
Refreshing activities, re-releasing items previously seen on new leaf... Sorry had to pile on this one!
@@d-padqueen1103Because of my Islqnd’s theme and one of the houses I have made, I need a Glass Partition thats not in NH, only NL
There was so much potential for this game but Nintendo gave up on it
It wasn't abandoned.
(I'm just being a bit nitpicky with the end of what you said, I agree with everything else you said)
@@ThatGirlKim Still, we don't want to have to buy an entire new switch for a second save
@@ThatGirlKimIf you bought it digitally you can just link the same Nintendo account to your 2nd Switch and redownload the game.
yeee I aint restarting my island, had the same one from day-one game release date and put too many hours into it!
@@TheMeloettaful Exactly, if you can even get them..

Where you pay one of the npc’s to come in and flatten your island, giving you a way to soft reboot your island.
something out 5 years being considered "old" now is kind of scary.
Especially when they don't need a new game, just a revamp of the old one - there's a ton of things they can do with it to improve it.
Its not a “now” thing. Thats always been the rough lifespan of games.
They should've thought about that before they made our Pocket Camp bonus items impossible to get if we restart now that it's offline.
It’s totally worth picking up New Leaf. I’ve not played NH in 18 months
New Horizons is the best in terms of designing your island. The others are just better in every other aspect.
Yeah, waiting an entire day sucks but time traveling also sucks 'cause saving and loading the game is so slow 😂
Even earning bells without other players help is such a hassle😂
Not related but
And it's unfortunate that they didn't add train tracks and the train doesn't move around the island!😂
Hope they add more features like moving objects in the next game since the new switch should be more powerful than the current one.
And let players have more freedom when it comes to customizing the interior/exterior of the house😅
Sadly last year (on my birthday too😢) they shut down the online service on NH but don’t let that stop you from playing ❤
don't forget if you have happy home paradise all that progress has to be restarted. and I ain't doing that lol

After collecting all the fish and bugs as well as completing the museum, I ain't starting over. I'll do that again in the next Animal Crossing game.
the only reason I restarted my island was so I could change my player and island name. ALWAYS bugs me when you can't change your name in games
They should’ve done something similar to one of the later updates to New Leaf; give players the ability to sell their island but keep their catalog/learned DIYs.
I am NOT restarting.
What they need to do, is find a way for non online people to get all the fruit.
Since the new switch console is back ward compatable, let us start a NEW switch2 island and also keep our old ones
If you plan to restart just know that it's going to take a lot of time and effort to get back to where you were, and some bits will feel old because you've played through it already, but if you persevere it can be a fun new experience as well~
If you think about it, people who buy the Switch 2 who already had a Switch would be able to have two islands, one for each console.
I will never reset my island. I worked so hard building it. And getting my dream islanders.
But they are stuck behind their own rules and regulations so 😂
They will make a new one at some point so sit tight and be patient
Wait what?! But why tho? Especially if people worked hard on their islands!
The only reason in still playing is because something went wrong with the island transfer from my OG switch to a new OLED one. I'm still trying to get all the DIYs and have one last villager to switch out. A patch making it easier to get DOYs you don't already have would be a blessing 😂 I'm just over 200 short of all of them and have a huge library that I keep forgetting to find people still playing who need DIYs to come along and take ones they don't have 😂😂
Restart? What if I just started. I’m late to the party! lol
I just started playing this around the 6th or 7th January I need some friends guys I don't no anyone that plays this helppp lol 😂

I'd love to have another hemisphere save i'm bored of summer and would like to experience a end of year/start of year winter.
You'll probably want a successor console when its released, yeah? (It will be compatible with Switch titles)
Just keep your old switch for a second island ;)
If not, old switch consoles will likely flood the market cheap once it is released, you saved up for your first switch, you'll easily be able to afford a second.
Yeah, definitely don't want to start over. I try to check in at at least once a month and still do the happy home paradise.
I really wish Nintendo would rerelease new horizons on the next console with better performance and missing features
Way to throw away your own legacy, Nintendo :-\
(Oh yeah, and Bob's Gang!
(And even then there were issues with new leaf too that were better on Wii and GameCube)
In the end I just find it sad.
I've been playing on the same island since day 1. i have all my dreamies there and yes i would prefer a different layout but even so i would never reset it, too many hours have gone into it lol and as another commenter pointed out, there's a lot of memories on the island too
I HAD to restart my island this year as unfortunately someone stole my switch at the end of last fall and I didn't have island cloud backup 3:
I have every villager pictures and no way am I starting all over.
Yourself or trading? How long did it takeV
@josh2933 myself. Probably about a year. Some of them are real pains. I threw a couple of them out of town and moved them back in, lol
How about, more content? The items are always the same.
I don't think I could start over. I have Raymond 😬
I want Raymond how did you get him?❤
@peggynicholson2639 You're not going to believe this, but I got Raymond from the very beginning of the game. I got him when I created the tent. He was just there 😁
What's terraforming?
‘Hey remember the tutorial? You guys should play that again! That’ll give you something to do on the game :D’
I'm not creating a new island. Remodeling, yes. ACNH had much potential but lacked the continual updates and added features New Leaf and Pocket Camp had. Yes, Happy Home Designer added new features and development options, but the base game could be so much better had Nitendo not given up on New Horizons.
If they want people to continue playing they HAVE to do a decent update. Its been neglected too long.
Nintendo needs to just stop fucking around and do a NEW LEAF REMAKE
If we just get Animal Crossing New Horizons DX in lieu of an actual new Animal Crossing game for Switch 2, then I will be pissed.
That doesn’t work. It just creates a new player on your existing island, not a new island.
@ Wait really? That’s so weird. I just assumed it’d be like any other game. That sucks for the people who do share their switch with other people.
Its like yesterday I played with all my mates in NH while "working" from home
PS: I just hopped back on an emulated New Leaf PC Version and I have so much MORE fun than in NH.
I just picked it up and your channel has been so helpful! It's a lot of fun so far.
I saw a couple Animal Crossing vids in my recommendations and it made me check on mine again. And like, the reactions did make me feel bad for leaving for years, but also the nolstalgia of wandering around my island again, seeing what I did, all the other residents there. No way could I erase that.
They want to ramp up the players playing it more, they need to continue updating!
Now in 2025, due to work, I am barely able check into resident services so I can claim my daily miles 😂 but I can honestly say I still do play at least once a day bc ACNH is somewhat therapeutic for me after coming home from a long day at work (I work in Vet Med now) I just don’t have the energy at this point anymore to restart a whole island.
add a option to flatten the island or save presets for islands. But QOL is not on nintendos menu almost all of the time. GL
I like my new island I started awhile ago but I do regret restarting because I didn't realize I was going to miss my original starting Neighbors
Aren't there also single use code items and limited time downloads that would be lost if we restarted?
I’m still on my same island from December 2020 and I have no intention of starting over.
With ACSM (Animal Crossing Saves Manager) you can create multiple islands and choose which one you want to play that time 😊
I've still been playing all this time. My island is nearly done but I want to wait until the snow is gone before I share my dream address.
At this point I'd almost consider buying a second copy under another profile on the same console if they would let us have new islands that way..
XD
I started over on Dec 31 but only had 20 or so hours in my old island. Gonna try to play the whole year and experience all the events!
I got back into it by trying to get every villager photo and do my daily tasks. Still haven’t decorated my island 😂
