+AMMO NYC What are your thoughts on using silicone spray on plastics for a shiny look?

    • @anthonystark9390
      @anthonystark9390 8 лет назад +3

+MrPungnylle b I'm sure he's not for them. I assume he would more so recommend a water based product. I say this because he uses a water based tire gel instead of silicone based, which actually you can use AMMO MUD tire gel on your trim; however, it won't necessarily be super shinny if that's what you're looking for. It will look good but not totally shinny.

I'm 19, just got my first car, which is a 1998 Dodge Neon. I know it's not a really nice BMW or Charger, but it's a start. I've been getting really into caring for it, even more so because the previous owner didn't take much care of it (he sold it after he dented up the front from when it went under a trailer home). I've been trying to care for it and restore it as best as I can and your videos have been a great help. Thanks a lot!

Just wanted to add my suggestions on things I've learned over time. 1, I vacuum the seats before the carpet. A lot of times things jump from the seats onto the carpet..it saves time. 2, I do the windows AFTER the tire shine. The smallest amount of wind carries that tire shine onto everything..also saves time. 3, I clean the interior first always because when cleaning/lifting dirt/dust from the inside, it can end up blowing around to the paint. It's comforting to know when I'm finished the inside I can close it up n not have to get back in.

Larry, I can't thank you enough for shooting this video. I'm currently very much amateur level when it comes to auto cleaning and detailing, although I have had a few "customers."
It seems that I have no pattern for my washes and with so many different videos, opinions, and methods, I'm even more unorganized in the way I perform my washes. This is a well made video and really helps me to understand the importance of creating a pattern or routine when washing and detailing a vehicle.
So again, thank you for this video!! Glad to see a new video that goes back to the root of your profession of washing and detailing. Have a great day!

So I’m going to say I’m very appreciative of this content for a few reasons. I don’t have a fancy expensive car but I do have a new fully loaded Kia Soul Exclaim that I love to clean and keep shiny and new looking. So having some free time for once in a very long time this weekend I want to clean my car again but this time I’ve got build up on my Driver leather seat and I found your channel on how to remove leather stains. Then I’ve found this video. And let me say that this video either reinforces what I already do or has shown me new techniques I’ve never even considered. So thank you for sharing your expertise with the world to see and learn. I don’t use expensive products to clean but I’ll definitely have an idea of what to do from now on. So thank you very much for making videos like these so I can keep my Kia Soul exclaim professionally clean 👍🏼

Thanks for the great vid! @11:44 I'm curious as to whether you've ever put foam on the car, bottom to the top. I used to work in a food processing plant and that was how the operators were trained to clean the machines before they were sterilized. The reason is that the foam would coat the bottom and stay on that area the longest. Subsequent layers of foam applied higher up would cascade downward in sheets over the entire previously foamed surface. Foam tends to travel downward over wet areas, not dry (‘legs’ will form @11:45). If you foam the bottom first the foam applied to the upper part will work it’s way all the way down to the bottom. Washing and rinsing would then be done top to bottom as usual. A small thing, but I find it gives more bang for the foamy buck. Great tutorial, i look forward to learning more.

I so enjoy watching your videos. Im glad to see Ive been doing a lot of things right when I wash my vehicles. I, however, always vacuum first. I have an inexpensive Craftsman vac and the dirt on the garage floor gets blown around when I run the vac so I dont want that dirt, or "Gunk" getting on my car. Secondly, I NEVER put towels over my shoulder and then use them to dry or do glass. I find that sweat and/or oil from my skin gets on the towel and then on the glass or paint.

Larry, first off, thank you SOOO much for your comments, tips, insight, and your valuable experience. I have to tell you, I was laughing a bit during this video and I'll tell you why. . . . . because that's how i approach my weekly wash n dries too :)). I mean almost to a T.
The funniest part was when you got to the fabric cleaning of the seat. . . you know...when you pulled apart the seams to expose hidden dirt ! ! ! LOL I do that too. It's good to see someone else that's "anal" about detailing. I mean, afterall, that's how you got to the top of the detailing food chain.
Even still, I'm going to watch this video a few more times and then take notes. I am always looking for ways to improve my technique. I know you probably have already heard this a million times but Thank YOU for helping me take care of my cars (I have a 2012 Mazda3 Sedan in Crystal White Pearl, and my wife's is a 2015 Mazda3 Sport in Soul Red). They're not Ferrari's or Porsche's, but they are an important investment to me. And I love to detail cars, so I consider myself a serious enthusiast.
My polisher is just a Porter Cable 7424xp but I like it. I have all the necessary foam pads and cleaners as well. I will be watching your videos on your products to see if they are what I can use. In the meantime, keep the videos coming. By the way, I noticed in another video, someone posted some dumbass comment about you talking too much and not enough info ?!?! O say screw him and keep doing what your doing ok? I like your style, I like how you explain things, and I like your personality. You have a way of explaining things so people get it.
Ok, enough rambling, have a great 4th of July ling weekend ok bud ? :))

Meguiar's gold class soap. Works well. Use more than directed to make sure you have plenty of lubrication. Double the dose for your wheels.
Armor all wheel cleaner. Spray it on your wheels like the "plum" pre spray. Use it as a pre spray yourself. Then, using your over-concentrated gold class soap, clean the wheel like normal.
Get his "skin" defense coat. Easy as pie to put on and buff off, and is amazing stuff. Yes, it's 65 bucks....but I've kept my car skinned to the max for over 2 years, and have about have the bottle left. It's actually enjoyable to apply.

I can always pick up something from someone who’s living is a task I do once a week. I’m a self employed carpenter. I have a truck and pull a portable workshop in a enclosed trailer. I work in high income neighborhoods. I feel keeping a clean, well organized rig displays what you are all about through action. I also keep my vehicles for a very long time, I want them to look as good when I got them. It’s far easier to have a regular wash cycle that takes minimal time. I will get a foam cannon, looks like that can be doing passive work while I’m getting other things done. I use a super soft wash brush for semi trucks, I do about 3-4 times the amount of soap to avoid scratching the wax. I clean the engine bay once a month. Mechanics will take pause and up their game when they see a clean 15-20 year old engine bay.

60 bucks??? I paid 40 for the wheel woolies, and I got 3 of them. Bought them when I got my 15 around July of 2015. Still work fantastic. The woolies rinse out the brake dust very well. Highly recommend.
As for his products, you're right. The "foam" paint wash, and the "plum" wheel spritzer, and the "brute" wheel soap is a bit much for what you get. Solution?? Get the Meguiar's "gold class" soap, and use twice the directed amount to baby your paint. Do the same for your wheels. It's cheaper even when you use dumb amounts of it!!! LOL
GET THE ARMOR ALL WHEEL CLEANER. Works just like the plum pre-spray (but I think it's better) You spray the wheel cleaner on the wheels, and it feels super slick on the wheels. And it's the same price of the plum, but you get more than twice the amount..........and no shipping.
The "skin" protectant is theeeeeeeeeee shit. GET IT!!!! Yes, it cost 65 bucks, but again, I've had it for over 2 years, and still have more than half the bottle left.
