The best way to wash your car is to never ever towel dry your car. I don’t care what anyone says. Towel drying will always result in some swirl marks. Get a system that removes minerals from tap water or a bucket style power washer and put distilled water in it for a final rinse. I personally wash my car with regular tap water and do a final rinse with $5 worth of distilled water I buy at Target at $0.99 per gallon. I put it in a battery powered power washer that draws water out of an attached bucket. Then I just air dry the car and it has no water spots and no swirls. I also don’t hose down my car with water first, instead I use a foam cannon to foam up the car first and then rinse it off before doing a hand wash. That way you have more lubrication when rinsing off the initial grime off your car. I have had my brand new car for 14 months so far and I am unable to find a single swirl mark.
Love the vids sir. I detail cars for a living in Macomb Illinois. Would be awesome to hangout in that shop for a day, always learning different tricks from your vids. Thank you for taking the time to post your vids.
Can I wash my car with my home water if it's really hard? Or should I not even bother? I know you mentioned it in the video but I'm not sure if you explained if it's doable as long as you blow off all the water with a leaf blower hard or soft water?
A lot of times my car is just dusty and I’ll just rinse it off with a hose water and dry it is that ok. I hate to use soap on a car that’s just dusty. The wheels or a different story I know they have to be detailed
I ordered a couple of "Microfiber Madness" wash mitts along with some Eagle Edgeless 600 microfiber rags from the Rag Company. I was surprised to feel how much softer the rags were in comparison to the wash mitt and it made me wonder why use wash mitts? Why not always wash with the softest thing you can find? I even see the following in my Tesla Model 3 manual: "CAUTION: Avoid using tight-napped or rough cloths, such as washing mitts. A high-quality microfiber cleaning cloth is recommended." Would love your perspective... What do you think I should use and why?
Great info! But you know what I hate, after taking all these precautions to get your car clean, you go for a drive or park it and BAM, dirty or dusty again! I wish they could come up with a product that repels dust and light dirt! I park in a huge underground heated garage(in the winter its heated) and dust and light dirt particles from the cars going by to exit the garage always lands on my nice clean car! Damn! Since I've started using chemical guys synthetic retailer, I have noticed alittle less dirt and dust but still....
How do you properly dry a car that has a ceramic coating?I don’t want to use a spray lubricant like you suggested that has wax. I don’t want to add any layers of product on top of the ceramic coating.
I use a detailer from the same family of the coating. I normally do a rinseless wash on my coated cars, then about once a month, I will use a detailer after the wash.
Up to 2000 psi washer with 2 gallons a minute are recommended. Depending on what you want to spend? $100 or $1000? Watch IMJOSHV on youtube, he always demonstrates pressure washers.
As a non professional, here is how I do my weekly washes. I use Optimum No Rinse (ONR). This product has been out there for years, and has been proven not to scratch your car. Once you have properly prepared your car, deep cleaned, mechanical & chemical decon, paint correction with polish and or compound, applied your wax and or sealants, ONR will save you time & Money. I can wash my car about 600 times for about $20.00, WOW! I would research before you buy ONR. Jason, have you ever used ONR?
Jason when its weather like you are having currently when you bring cars in for paint correction do you let them warm up to shop temp or just dive right in and start working them through the processes?
After letting the foam sit for a few minutes, the next step is to hand wash it using the mit, using the remaining foam as an additional lubricant, then rinse it.
@@LeFlyGuyNope, got to wash it first. The foam will not remove all of the dirt. The foam will remove lose dirt, but not all of the dirt . The foam will act as a lubricant for washing the car and not scratching it.
There are water softener/mineral removers machines available. Always wash in shade at dawn or dusk. There are car shampoos which won't spot, such as Adams shampoo.
how long do you use the wash mitt and cloths? do you use new one each car and throw them or do you wash them after a car then re use on next vehicle? if so how many uses would you get out of them? thanks
Every time I use a mitt or MF towels, they will be washed. Always wash with a laundry soap & white vinegar in cold water & hang dry or at low setting on dryer. I normally soak overnight in Oxyclean & Laundry soap before machine washing.
I would deep clean the surface, 2 step decon and see if still there? You could try a tar remover, but wash afterwards, If still there, machine polish? If still there, go to a body shop, maybe needs re-painted, could be over-spray?
If your car has been detailed & protected, you can use any pH neutral shampoo. If you car is coated, stay in the same family, they will probably sell a shampoo?
Hi Jason! you use 2 dry me river towels to dry the car. do you use drying aid for both the first pass of getting most of the water, and also drying aid for the 2nd towel to get any remaining water? Also, I have the double twistress drying towel as well; how do you recommend using drying aid with that towel? Thanks so much
Always use a Clean Microfiber Drying Towel and or a leaf blower. I first use a leaf blower, then I sprayed on a detailer (drying aid) and wipe with clean microfiber towels.
Wow, wasn't planning on watching the whole video, but it was over before I knew it! So satisfying
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
I just watched someone wash a car for 20 minutes but you know what I dont regret it
Tyler Barnes try watching a 25 minute video on washing microfiber towels!

U have to pay them 1000$ for that
If you don’t have a sprayer for foam what can you use to pre wash the car?

Jason, great tips and covered all the reasons of why the owner needs to do their best to keep it shiny!
Even if I watched tausends of "how to wash your car" videos, yours are still entertaining and Interesting. 😁
Thanks for the love.
I heard another detailer reccomend power washing from back to front in the rinse process. Do you see any benefit in doing so?

You are a good candidate for a rinseless wash?

Sounds like you may be a good candidate to use a Rinseless wash?
Great video. Have you ever tried washing the lower parts first?
How much
With your pressure sprayer, what pressure are you targeting?

Can I use the meguiars hyper wash on a car with carbon ceramic brakes/rotors? Great soap but this will be my first time with CCBs. Thanks

What was that "spotless" water machine? How do you create soft water if you have hard water basically.
The best way NOT to get water spots, use a rinseless wash.

Very subtle
does anyone know what song is at the end of the video? shazam is failing me
Try Soundhound, much better then Shazam.
Yo, if you still care - it's Brings Back The Feeling by Daniel Gunnarsson.
I tried Shazam and SoundHound - then Google Assistant found it immediately.

After letting the foam sit for a few minutes, the next step is to hand wash it using the mit, using the remaining foam as an additional lubricant, then rinse it.
Most people rinse because the foam is supposed to encapsulate the dirt so no point contact washing it and scratching the paint

Hey Jason/Jason’s team, do you guys know any good detailing places in the California Inland Empire/ San Bernardino area??
Follow Mike's Detailing (CA detailer) Papa Smurf (CA detailer) Eddie Colon? I believe they are all from CA? Buy I don't know where they work?
What can we do about hard water

how long do you use the wash mitt and cloths? do you use new one each car and throw them or do you wash them after a car then re use on next vehicle? if so how many uses would you get out of them? thanks
We use them until they are no longer soft. We switch out towels every couple of months.
Every time I use a mitt or MF towels, they will be washed. Always wash with a laundry soap & white vinegar in cold water & hang dry or at low setting on dryer. I normally soak overnight in Oxyclean & Laundry soap before machine washing.

What are your thoughts on using a chamois leather to dry a vehicle? My grandfather used to do that when he used to clean his cars.
This is not your fathers car wash. Nobody uses chamois anymore.
Always use a Clean Microfiber Drying Towel and or a leaf blower. I first use a leaf blower, then I sprayed on a detailer (drying aid) and wipe with clean microfiber towels.
