      @@nick-3808 Here's another trick nobody really mentions... If the sun is out, wait until the sun is shining on 1 side of the car and you'll notice the other side isn't facing the sun. Be quicker on the side where the sun is shining and the other side you can be a little more slow since it's not in direct sun light.

    Your channel is so great. I am a 63-year-old nurse that works really long hours. I live on a dirt road. My car gets so dirty I got scolded at the car wash... even though I prewashed it with a hose. Looks like I'm going to have to do it myself. Picking up my Greenworks 3000 2 gph electric pressure washer tomorrow and using your tips. I think I can do this in less time than waiting at the carwash. It will be much cheaper and no fussing because i have a little dirt under my fender. Goodbye to Tidal Wave! (And good riddance!) Goo Goo car wash didn't complain but just tore my back windshield washer off twice. And I worry about how driving on that thing affects my car. Thank you so much!

    I want to clean my car now. lol. I do a very similar wash when on a time crunch except for one step: Instead of a pre-rinse, I foam it, rinse it, then foam it again to start the contact wash. It doesn't take much more time than a pre-rinse would, and I feel more comfortable removing a lot of the abrasives before taking my towel to the car. I also saw a test of someone foaming a car in two halves, one side without a pre-rinse and the other side with a pre-rinse. It showed the side without the pre-rinse left the paint cleaner after rinsing the foam off. The thought was that the water from the pre-rinse made it more difficult for the foam to attach to the dirt, while without the pre-rinse, the foam quickly encapsulated the dirt and rinsed off cleaner. I guess you could call this a pre-rinse as well but with foam before water. Just wanted to throw that out there. Thought it was pretty interesting.

    • @imjoshv
      @imjoshv  Год назад +2

      Yea I agree with that. I don’t always prefoam, dwell, and rinse… I do if the car is extra dirty and want it to break down the dirt more. With this car it wasn’t too bad so I don’t have any concerns with that. And as a mobile Detailer I have limited resources with me so I need to use the water as efficiently as possible.

      This would work great on a car that's well maintained with possibly a coating on the wheels and paint that also has a longer lasting tire protectant. Nasty wheels and tires can take 5 minutes a piece. I would definitely change out wash towels or flip to a new side on each panel but to be fair in all of this if you only want efficiency then quality will always suffer but 90% of folk don't care about water drips or a keeping a perfectly clean vehicle all the time. I wish I didn't care lol. Ignorance isn't bliss but it is alot less work and stress in these instances.

    • @dustin3700
      @dustin3700 2 года назад +2

      @@bacchasmichael2017 if the wheels are cool I don't pre spray with water I usually use bilt hamber @ 10:1
      apply wait 1-2 minutes and agitate with a vary soft interior brush on the wheels and a green body brush for tires let sit for 1 minute and rinse, if the wheels have brown staining after that and are factory cleared I use acid 4:1 appy on brush wipe in and rinse. If the wheels are trashed or are steelies I just apply cleaner and agitate with green body brush on wheels and tires wait a minute and rinse. Some tires can require multiple rounds of cleaning and some are permanently stained and have tried everything from mckees tire rejuvenator, multiple degreesers to acid to vary stiff brushes and iron removers even acetone and some just can't be saved but it's rare. Black gloss wheels usually get a presoak and rinse before brushing unless they are already scratched to death which most are.

    lol that's the exact process I use. no need to waste time when you have great chemicals and tools to use them to your advantage and speed up the processes. Great demonstration. I don't even use buckets anymore. I have a wash mit at ech corner of the car and do a quarter at a time spraying ringing them out then spraying with the power washer... wheels just foam all the wheels them go around with your wand, woolie and tire brush. why roll a bucket around to do anything. don't even need buckets of water at all. some clients question your work though since you can finish quickly so they have to see the result and then apologize.

What I DO NOT understand is how you foamed that car and proceeded to wash the entire thing before rinsing. If I did those exact steps the soap would be drying before I finished my first panel. This strategy is only applicable to either new cars or clients who maintain there cars well. The slow down in any detail usually has to do with the condition of the vehicle. You couldn’t do this on a 2008 Chevy Tahoe that’s been thru a shit storm. Rims will have to be thoroughly cleaned and in my experience- requires 1-2 passes of agitation to get adequate results.
    On poorly maintained paint- I usually go in with an APC diluted 10-1 pre wash to help make my life easier when it comes to the contact wash.
    Anybody can wash a new car or well maintained car since it requires to little no agitation.
    Try this on a an older unprotected vehicle and show the results.

    My Aston MArtin vantage is ceramic coated and easy to wash but takes more than 10 minutes. I clean each wheel and use a barrel brush to clean what you can’t easily see but is surely dirty. After the rinse I remove the nozzle from the hose and flow water over the entire car allowing the surface tension of the water to nearly dry the car, then use a blower to blow the water from the crevices where it hides. Then I use “guzzler” microfiber towels to quickly dry the entire vehicle, Then each wheel and tire gets dried and if need be retreated with tire shine. Finally all windows are washed. 45 minutes is a fast wash for me.

There is road dust and debris that get stuck in the clear coat. This can and will transfer onto your cloth and make micro scratches in the paint. Always wash from the top down, as the bottom is usually the more debris filled. With this car, it was pretty much fully cleaned anyway looks like a bit of water spots on the car nothing to bad. Take your time there is no rush.

      My first job out of high school was detailing trade-ins for a dealership. This was 32 years ago, and even back then, doing a contact wash before making sure all the abrasives were completely removed was an obvious no-no.

    When working on cars that have actually been driving you’re dealing with a lot more than just dust. Bugs on the front end take a lot longer than 10 mins to safely remove. Plus wheels and glass add another 15-20 mins.

    • @imjoshv

      Soap and water! You soak your towels so that they are saturated with the soap mixture and have plenty of lubrication

    Remember, the more times you actually touch/rub the paint finish, the more chance of micro scratches, that WILL mount up !!!!! I dont agree with the need to use the micro fibre wipe down cloths, instead, to remove the rinsed water (to avoid hard water white marks) I use a small amount (half a normal cup) of good quality dishwasher rinse aid fluid in a 2 gallon watering can of clean water well mixed, apply to the wet finish & watch the water disappear, its particularly effective when its a dark colour, to avoid those horrible visible swirls caused by using over enthusiastic drying cloths that somehow seem to attract dust particles, which WILL cause the damage....
    Good luck from the UK, this really works.

    My issue with being able to speed wash is that I'm constantly fighting the hose (flexzilla because Amazon was sold out of the other one you recommended at the time), and for the roof I'm up and down a step stool. Plus, it's the one time no one tries to talk to me or bother me with whatever so I kind of take my time.

    • @KosmicHRTRacingTeam
      @KosmicHRTRacingTeam 2 года назад +2

      The Flexzilla should have similar properties as the ones he recommends on Amazon and Walmart. Maybe you don’t have the swivel attachment? That always seems to be the biggest issue. Btw, I can’t do it in 10 min. I probably don’t even get my wheels and tires done in 10 min. I also add a couple steps besides washing wheels and tires thoroughly, i switch to a different pressure washer (“low pressure” cordless) that is connected to distilled water, and use this after the rinse and then I start worrying about the drying process. Take my time at that stage, because I have soft water on the car and don’t have to worry about water spots. Using a cordless leaf blower. Then I start drying the wheels and tires first, then the rest of the car with towel and drying aide (Technicians Choice ceramic detail spray). Maybe I’ve got too many steps?

    • @KlockoFett
      @KlockoFett 2 года назад

      @@KosmicHRTRacingTeam it probably is a lack of swivel. Likely buying a new stubby with a swivel after more important expenses (engine repairs) are passed. I run it out straight and in no time it's twisted up on itself. I don't switch between PW's since I only own the one, but I do rinse with just the hose and a nozzle because my PW seems like it doesn't rinse as clean or as quick.
      The water in my area is something really low like 49ppm for dissolved solids, so a DI water system isn't that big of a deal for me. I'm drying it right away anyway using a mix of blower and towels. Sometimes just towels if I don't feel like dragging out the extension cord. Even then I have a little cordless Rigid shop blower that I'll use for the wheels, mirrors, and where water hides (that thing just chews through batteries, not good for the whole car). If it's a really sunny day and the car starts drying from the sun (no garage or shade access), I'll just re-wet where necessary and dry from there. If my car was black I might have a different experience, but it's white. Actually at the house there's 1 white, 1 off white (Chrysler called it cool vanilla), and one gold car. None really spot too bad...except after rain. Then it's ridiculous.
      Oh. Yeah. Current stubby is from Chem Guys. It works fine, but lack of swivel and a frankly tiring trigger pull are sending me running for an MTM.

    I recommend adding a second foam coat and never leaving that first foam on to use in the hand washing of car. Rinse off that first foam coat after 5 minutes to wash away that surface the foam breaks up so it doesn’t act as an abrasive during the hand wash step. After rinse, apply a 2nd foam coat, THEN HAND WASH….

    • @stellarphase

      Yea I understand your point about the towels. But I do flip the towels a few times to a clean surface. I typically do it more often but this car is taken care of often and with the pre rinse the majority of dirt came off so the towels did not get very contaminated..

    I never rinse the car with a pressure washer first, garden hose maybe, but the best way is to foam>dwell>rinse>foam>contact>rinse>dry. If you spray the car with that 1200 psi+ pressure washer with water only? Now you're spreading that dirt and grit across you paint at 1200+ psi!

I tell them they'll have water spots if they don't dry it so they speed away in the car for a few minutes and then dry the rest themselves. works for me they save 10 15$ and I save time and towels. now I offer it as an option to save them $. sometimes I wash people's cars they pull up to me while I'm detailing another car and I'll foam and pressure wash theirs at the same time. then they drive away without getting out . 25$ in 5 to 10 min lol i don't have to clean door jambs or the glass. they just say do what you can in a couple min. I'm like ok 👍 I love this business
