Petula Clark - Don't sleep in the subway (Live Olympia)

- You wander around on your own little cloud
When you don't see the why or the wherefore
You walk out on me when we both disagree
'Cause to reason is not what you care for
I've heard it all a million times before
Take off your coat, my love, and close the door
Don't sleep in the subway, darlin', don't stand in the pouring rain
Don't sleep in the subway, darlin', the night is long
Forget your foolish pride, nothing's wrong
Now you're beside me again
You try to be smart, then you take it to heart
'Cause it hurts when your ego is deflated
You don't realize that it's all compromise
And the problems are so overrated
Goodbye means nothing when it's all for show
So why pretend you've somewhere else to go
Don't sleep in the subway, darlin', don't stand in the pouring rain
Don't sleep in the subway, darlin', the night is long
Forget your foolish pride, nothing's wrong
Now you're beside me again
Don't sleep in the subway, darlin', don't stand in the pouring rain
Don't sleep in the subway, darlin', the night is long
Forget your foolish pride, nothing's wrong
Now you're beside me again
Don't sleep in the subway, darlin', don't stand in the pouring rain
Don't sleep

Petula Clark even years and years later can sing her songs justbthe same way...her voice and the beat ...the ultimate singer..love her ❤️
I was blessed to see Petula Clark in Sydney, Australia in March 1998 at the Canterbury- Hurlstone Park RSL club. She was brilliant that night, and this performance at the Paris Olympia 11 years later is great also, she is truly age defying. How does she do it ❤.
I love this woman ✨
Listened to Pet Clark in the mid-sixties. Lucky to have her still singing after all these years. She's legendary!
My favorite Petula Clark song and she is still beautiful after all these years.
I saw her a year and a half ago, which was a week before her 86th birthday, and she was simply wonderful. She sounded great and looked enchanting. It was a memory I will cherish.
Every time I heard her voice it's always makes me cry. My moms favorite singer and her voice is really amazing ❤️
I keep watching this over and over it's so good. Love her!
I have loved this womans music for years. She has still got it...I would love to see her in concert
Truly a goddess, have loved her voice and her music since my childhood. Thank you for sharing your God given talent,
Fantastic! She's still one of my favorite singers of all time.
She still hits EVERY note! Lots of singers from her generation don't even try to hit the high notes, or even sing their songs in a different key, or change the melody around so they don't have to go neaer the high notes, but Petula still hits all the notes. She can't hold the notes for quite as long, it doesn't seem, but, hey, she's in her late 70s and still looks and sounds great, so that's pretty minor.
Reminds me of growing up in Knightsbridge London late 1960s and the fashion shows in Harrods! Weekends going to Battersea Park still lives in my ❤
Miss Clark sings better than most people of twenty - Her voice is amazing for any age!!! Classy lady!
Fantastic performance. Love Petula Clark.
Please lets honour our artists while they are still around! Chapeau bas Pétula!
Yes!
Fantastic! Absolutely fantastic - there are no other words. THANK YOU, Petula! You're one of the greatest ever.
Wow!
I remember Downtown and this song from about 10 years old- I am now 56!
God,she looks and still sounds great!
Thank you, Petula!
No hay palabras para describir a esta ARTISTA con mayúsculas. Decir que es lo máximo, que es divina y sobre todo una PROFESIONAL AL 200% es muy poco!!!
Miss Clark, Usted brilla con luz propia.
Grande, Petula!!!

My all time favourite song... melody and rhythm... ethereal in its own way and yet, somehow earthy
Wow Great Stuff Petula Clark Top Shelf.
My mom love this song. I miss my mom so much she really like Petula ❤️
WOW!!! Thanks for posting this. This has always been one of my favorite songs and Petula Clark only proves that you only get better with age. She rocks and only she can belt out this song. An awesome voice with a great arrangement.
Agreed! This is one totally AMAZING WOMAN WITH AN AMAZING VOICE!
GO PET!
La amo!
Wow, her voice really hasn't changed after all these decades. She sounds 98% of how she did back in 1967.
Simply Beautiful!!
It's been a long time since Petula was on the Ed Suliivan Show. Ed is gone! Sad. But Petula goes on...and does a great performance! Thanks. It is a wonder that she is still performing, and so well!
after you enjoy and love her in say 1965 era...to see her 60 years later singing still.....you love her more....
Hasn't changed much since 1967 thank god. Badass.
My first crush back in the mid-60's.
Incredible! I agree that the world should see her at the Grammies or Oscars so they can be as suprised and amazed as we are at seeing this icon of pop music still belt it out better than ever. This is a great song, both melody and lyrics, too, better than I remember as a kid.
Nailed It!
Wow!!!
What a VOICE#
You GO Pet you sound wonderful!!!
Pet. You are such a class act.
We love you.
I love her and this song! Reminds me of the old days.
Living proof that Great things come in small packages!
Beautiful !!!
Fabulous ❣🎙Great Timing💢🎶🎙🎼
Such a great song and cool rendition! Love it! In great form...
She's so beautiful!! Wow... Petula.
DID YOU KNOW THAT SHE HAS SOLD MORE RECORDS THAN ANY GRAMMY
AWARD WINING ARTIST IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC, PERIOD!!!! NO ONE ELSE
WILL EVER CATCH UP!!!!
Great talent lasts forever. This is proof of that.
I Love this song.
Fantastic!!!
God has been good to her......to look and sound like that at 77!
Wow. I love this song.
I Love it💕💕💕💕💕😉😉
I love her attitude here.
who sings like this when they're 80? She is the same woman as she was in 1965.....
I hate it when they do all that playing around and half-ass sing the song, Gary Puckett does the same thing now. I'd rather listen to the record and spare myself this embarrassment.
WOW!!!
Yes, she is a class act and a great performer, but I don't like the playing around either.
The problem is that she has been doing this for fifty years. She is with old friends.
Just wait. Pat Benatar is already regretting all the "Power Ballads" she did when she was in her 20s.
That is what her fans want now, and she is not 20 any longer.
You might be slightly missing the point here. Ms Clark always performed in a jazzy/chanson type of way, all throughout her career.
On TV shows she stuck to the expected format but outside of that she was always a very free-spirited artist...
@@clemsonbloke I love this broad but I agree with you completely (if it aint broke don't fix it, as my Kraut Grandpa used to say)
Still beautiful and gorgeous!
Maravilhosa interpretação, uma cantora célebre, fantástica!!! Uma voz inigualável até hoje, e continua lindíssima!
I love her songs...
On this day in 1967 {September 10th} Petula Clark performed "Don't Sleep In The Subway" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'.
Three months earlier on June 3rd it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #5 and spent 10 weeks on the Top 100.
On Sept. 16th, 1967 it reached #1 {for 2 weeks} on the Australian Kent Music Report and #12 in the United Kingdom.
R.I.P. Mr. Sullivan {1901 - 1974} & Ms. Clark will celebrate her 81st birthday in two months on November 15th.
Great hair......beautiful lady.....

Brilliance
She is still so good! 2022
sounds great... wonderful career...

This one is almost better than her original! Thank you Petula!
A real JEM ! Yesterday, today and in the future.
I was afraid time may have ravaged her great voice. Not so. Wow!
Sehr gut.

😘 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕Pétula
As close to immortal as you can get . . .
She's still good...WOW.
💓💓💓💓💓
Man she is sounding great!
This later version--down-to-earthy, maturer, wiser, aged sublimely.
gives me goose bumps just listing to her
If all the incorrect sounds were erased the rest of this performance would be fantastic, amazing she still has a voice after all these years, a credit to her.
Wow she's still good!
saw her on broadway in Blood Brothers back in the early 90's amazing performer SHes like a duracell bunny
this is why i write songs on you tube
Which 33 people thumbs-downed this thing? Even if there are some things I miss, like the turnaround on "rain," but it's still Petula Clark, and it's still "Don't Sleep in the Subway, Darling," and it's live as only she can do, with original twists even after all these years.
@chkjns Hi there and good morning. Pet Clark is one of many of dozens and dozens of favorites from yesterdecades. Amazing how she is still, stellar in her performance! I was a lad of six when this came out, entering the first grade. Yes, many artists don't need to be / deserve to be on stage in Vegas.
Take care and have a wonderful week!
PETULA!!!!
All things considered...That is not bad for a woman who used to sing in the London subway during the blitz. She has kept her voice better then most her age. I could not help but think she would make a great grandmother in a movie or TV series.
Better than the original. Her voice is amazing.
Petula's birthday is 11/15/32....she will be 78 years old in a few day's. she looks good for her age, God bless her
@chuckbuckbobuck, she still has the greatest cheekbones!
Dear Mthivier:
And great hair!
Can't believe she's pulling this off - except it's Petula Clark.
High check bones are a sign, High intelligence, golden rope necklace, sequin gown, long golden hair making positive ions happen. Ions for Brian. BAK Happy Labor Day. Ida to eye. 8/27/21
wow, still the same voice!
+Ibarra Balani I hear an aged woman singing
The voice is the same, she needs little greater breaths though but that is not far from her voice as a younger woman.
Oh my god this song is my husband
Even at 77 she is pretty darn cute!!
At first her voice sounded weak. I thought age might have caught up her. Then out of no where came those booming notes. She still haves it!
In... credible!
Great song. Still great voice!
