Think of it like this: Ichibe's Shikai turns his opponent into a blank canvas. His Bankai then paints a new name onto said blank canvas.
Shikai: Erasing
Bankai: Writing
The only enemy he would need this Bankai is Yhwach and maybe quincy in general, they can collect Reishi and regain their powers. His power of erasing in shikai is already enough for most beings in Bleachverse.

@@sumsom3449 No, it is something that is easily missed. Ichibei said something like - how can you use your sword or a cross without a name to kill me. Cross is a device used to seal Bankai, so it is obvious which Bankai is there. It is said both in anime (this episode) and in manga, just that in manga it was shown how the cross is tainted with ink.
Think of Ichibei's power as the power to define things. You become whatever he wants you to become.
It's worth to mention that ichibei's black refers to the ink with which the manga of bleach is drawn his sword is literally using the fabric of reality itself to do what he pleases

The end part with Kon were comedy scenes that were in the Manga version but left out in the Anime.
It was supposed to be animated but the studio didn't make it in time because they were a bit rushed so it ended up like that
@@ichegonicc It really wasn't. The director Taguchi said that they are leaving out all comedy scenes that would disrupt the serious tone and flow of the Arc.

[Tidbits & Clarification]
- Ichibei's using his Bankai to erase Yhwach's name is actually why at the beginning of the story Ichigo couldn't hear his name. In the manga when the Yhwach inside of Ichigo tried to say it's name, it was blacked out in Ink. This was confirmed by Kubo in his Kluboutside QnA's.
- Lille Barro's "X-Axis" is extremely broken, it has no travel time when he shoots everything between the target and his gun is hit.
- Further, we see Ichibei clearly doesn't respect or hold Humans in high regard, he speaks as if they are below him. This is dope because we see that he and Yhwach practically complete opposites yet are willing to go to any length to win. Ichibei operates in in callous manner caring only about the Balance of the world, in contrast, Yhwach is a being that is forced to feel the suffering of humanity (or at least those that return to him) and he seeks to destroy the system that allows it (His feeling of superiority is further on show when he turns him into an ant and steps on him)
- This season while still phenomenal had tons of scheduling and production issues, so the team wasn't able to do everything the wanted and it's why this episode was kinda cut short. For reference, a 12 episode season of anime usually takes about a year to produce it, however Cour 2 of Bleach TYBW only had about 6 months.
[Lotta writing beyond this point for those Interes]
- "Nobody can take anything from me" & "Everything in this world exists for me to take it" These two lines by Yhwach are VERY important to his character once we get more context. Kubo uses it in a way that appears more so as a boast so many readers/viewers tend not to think much of it. In short and without spoiling of course, It's important to think of the position of Yhwach (specfically in the eyes of the Quincy) by name and concept he is their God, and they look to him for a specific reason. He is meant to be their "Savior" a Savior is someone who protects others from danger. This is done on purpose, as it's setting up a parallel with Ichigo, whose name means "One who Protects" while also being his inverse. Ichigo learning at an early age that his name meant that, is what gave him the purpose and intent of wanting to protect his mother. We know he failed, and from that accident he felt he had to protect people in his mother's stead. This is the 1st of many examples in Bleach which equivocates "names" with "fate given by something higher". [We see it here as well with Ichibei giving Yhwach a name, and that name changing what Yhwach is capable of] Throughout much of the story Ichigo accepts that Fate "One who protects", but the problem was that it was done out of duty, a role he was fated to do. Last season with The Blade is Me, Ichigo who "was born in darkness" learned of the truth, becoming one with himself and so he changed his fate by Choosing! to Protect instead of doing it from a place of ignorance. As it stands this may all seem like random ramblings (my apologies) but I really think it's important to keep in mind and this will make more sense later on. Last episode we saw Yhwach returning his own voice, against the man who presides over names, which again, in Bleach is tied to Fate (You could say that Ichibei presides over fate) . Yhwach is one who rebels against fate, and the same can be said of Ichigo. (again sorry for typing so much, and it'll all make sense when we get to the end of this arc)

That is crazy because this just tells you Kubo had this writing and story from the very beginning.
I would wonder if he had continued Bleach after the Fullbringer arc would we have got the same material and production.
@@mp6640 Yeah, Kubo actually gives alot of information on his creative process, like in the "Jet Artbook" Interview he says that he places the greatest importance on foreshadowing. He often creates characters in full mentally and chooses the best place to use them. Of course some stuff is made as the story goes along, but much of the big stuff is made at least an arc ahead.
As for the 2nd part, probably not, im sure we would have still gotten dope moments here and there, but it would have remained a long-running anime which simply has too many disadvantages. Naruto's war arc is a good example, but thanks to the Hiatus we ended up with a seasonal release, and Taguchi as the director + with the manga already complete we get additions straight from Kubo. Like it's not even a stretch to say Bleach TYBW is the greatest anime comeback to date.

No, Lille wasn't powered up technically but the others were
Ichibē's Zanpakutō's abilities are as follows:
Normal - can cut the names of anything he slices in half thus losing half it's power.
Shikai - anything covered in black ink loses its name.
Bankai - he can rename anything covered in black ink.
Just a little side note:
In the manga (chapter 63), the first time Ichigo meets "Zangetsu" was when he was training with Urahara to regain his shinigami powers whilst trying not to become a hollow and when Ichigo asked him who he was he said, "It's me ****" his actual name was covered by black ink brush strokes (It's possible he wanted to tell Ichigo he was Yhwach) but couldn't because his powers were sealed by Ichibe 1000 years ago.
Also chapter 64's title card is written in white ink brush strokes.
Ichibei is him! He's the real Neeekhaa!!! Also; Shutara's bankai drop, has ff7 knights of Rounds vibes. Even bested Shinji, Kensei and Rose combined IMHO.

Don't take Division 0's fight too seriously (except Ichibe vs Yhwach). The anime nerfed the Sternritters on purpose to make Division 0 look strong, but that's not the Quincys' real level, they didn't even use their power
Same goes with Division 0 lols.
If you didn't repair the medallion that contains yama's stolen bankai got painted by ichimonji too, they focused it a little more in manga, so you dont have to worry about Yhwach using zanka no tachi anymore
Something else to consider, we were actually shown the power, or effect to be more precise, of Ichimonji way back in the beginning of the show, when Ichigo regained his powers by getting trained by Urahara and was trying to learn the name of his Zanpakuto for the first time. Ichigo was not able to hear the name the old man Zangetsu was trying to say, it is because after the first war Ichibei erased the name of Yhwach from everywhere, in the anime they just muted him but in the manga, his name was doodled over with black ink, thats also one of the reasons he used "Zangetsu" as his alias at the time, since he could not say his name out loud and introduce himself to Ichigo like that.
Just so you know, but initial leaks suggested this episode would have covered more material of the manga (at least one or two extra chapters worth of content). For unexplained reasons, they ran into behind the scenes issues, hence why this episode ends so abrubtly and why the last few minutes are filler. This is proven further by the fact that the initial episode guides named this episode as "A" (after Yhwach's letter) instead of "Black".

It really did feel like he became the author in the manga because the brush strokes kinda seemlessly meshed with the drawings, it was crazy.
As for Squad0 being ressurected: it's not in manga, it might be in anime, but it was written in light novels: Can't Fear Your Own World: "as long as Reio Palace exists, squad 0 members will be revived after some time has passed"
So not the instant revive, and a condition must be meet, but yeah, once they became Squad 0 members, they are kind of immortal in this way.
Having read the manga and then seeing this in animated form it's slightly different but still very very good. True, their zanpaktos do effect reality and interdimensional energy. Nimaiya is a strong soul reaper he just seems underwhelming because he's less flashy. Ichibei is a monster. Spoiler warning:
In the manga, the fight between the sternritters and Squad Zero is much shorter. With the Zero squad facing bad damage. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the anime.

Kon, was caught by squad 12 members in Seireitei and brought to lab for 'experiments', while he was being examined, he PUFFED and turned into Mega-Kon. Now, Huge and powerfull, he started his revange on squad 12 members-> started chasing them, claiming he will kill them and destroying lab on the way... until Mega-Kon effect run out... and squad 12 members started chasing Kon instead... we could see part of that final chase, during episode 8 od TYBW-> when Ichigo was talking about restoring Zangetsu with Mayuri, just a moment before Squad 0 appeared for the 1st time.

the fight scenes between SZ and Royal Guards are all new (not shown in manga). There's speculation that only Ishida will survive and slap Senjumaru to death. Oh I believe there's a sneak peek about this in the latest trailer. Ishida OP. I am excited how he defeat the squad zero. But one thing for sure, all Royal Guards will be ressurrected again.

I believe he's the oldest character in the series. He's not the most reliable narrator but in CFYOW he says he was alive when the soul king appeared.

I'm just back here to hate on the Squad Zero selection process again 😂. Now that you guys have finally caught up I can finally say, can we imagine how powerful Yamamoto would have been if he was a part of Squad Zero??!!! Personally, I believe Yamamoto would have washed all of Yuha Bach's Royal Guards with ease if he was imbued with the Soul King's power like the rest of Squad Zero. Yama was legit already stronger than all of squad zero(Except Ichibei) before they joined Squad Zero. Again, The Soul King is a bum for not making Yama a part of Squad Zero! That has to be the biggest fumble in Bleach. Thank you.

Also, I read somewhere that the Soul King didn’t really choose the members of Squad 0 so Ichibe could be lying and not telling us the whole truth (could be spoilers). Apparently, he and some of the other Noble families are responsible for what the Soul King is now. There are speculations that Ichibe might be evil as well because he would have killed Ichigo and use Ichigo’s body parts like the Soul King “if” Ichigo couldn’t withstand the Soul king’s power.

so in the manga the squad 0 fight basically ended after oetsu got shot and it was just ichibe vs yhwach. The anime added a lot of new stuff for squad 0 as you see here. But according to the data books the squad 0 members or Ichibe I think can resummon dead members by calling their names. Also all of this can change in cour 3 since kubo said hes adding nwew material.
