That is exactly true
It's not just the clients, Upwork's own algorithm makes proposals from countries like Nigeria, Pakistan, Kenya etc appear at the bottom so they are less likely to be accepted by a client. This is mainly becuase these countries are known for scammers and low quality work that scares off clients.

Hey Evan, thanks for your effort. I really appreciate this. I am facing one problem, I guess others are facing this as well. I am not even getting responses to my proposals, but I have finished a couple of jobs, worked 30+ hours, and earned about 1K+ in one month almost. Getting responses just stopped suddenly, I am using the same techniques to write proposals, I am not doing copy-paste too much... I am lost kinda

How can they tell if I copy the cover letter?
If you're trying to speedrun sending proposals by copy-pasting, everyone can tell because it's not personalized and is typically very general
The most trouble I am having is getting started! I can't get the verification part to work when it sends the link to my phone, it won't let me log in with the same account info I do on my laptop. Looks like they are no longer monitoring the support email and is now all self taught with links to the Academy or Community - but I can't post anything in the community since my account isn't active yet since I can't get past the verification part. Suggestions anyone?

A client sent me an invitation and after I responded positively, he answered back at me and said that there was a lot of freelancers about the job so he made a competition (lol) . He asked for every freelancer, that he sent invitation, to deliver a sample about his job posting (a lot of actual work for his job btw) and he would decide who to hire after that! I think that I should follow your advice and not offer him free work, am I right? ( I have work samples on my Upwork Profile btw)

-doors closets
-Bathrooms
-interior design
-Garden design'
(And he attached links with photos and videos about the villa)
The timeline is 17 June
Lol tell him he forgot to include the full plans, measurements and document preparation for the planning approval! :D
Or you can say, "No problem, happy to take care of that for you. My fee for that would be ... (and double your normal price)"

In virtual assistance/customer support category Upwork clients pay half of what you would get for the same job as an employee. And thats before taxes, and as you are a freelancer you dont even get a health insurance. So thanks but no thanks.

If you submitted it using the form and followed all the instructions, then we've got it and might review it on our next livestream. If you didn't follow the instructions then it won't get reviewed. Be patient - we've had over 1,000 profile review requests - but about 80% did not follow instructions so if you did then we will get to yours eventually!

I would love to hear an answer from Evan too. But I also want to share my experience - just keep going, keep sending proposals, it is challenging and frustrating in the beginning. I watched many videos on how to write proposals and constantly changed my proposals and methods. The first month I sent 90+ proposals, and I got ZERO response! But I kept going and finally started getting jobs. I even got a review from a client who is 10 years on Upwork and paid over 18.000 hours to other freelancers - that I was one of the best freelancers in their 10 years on Upwork! I was shocked! Just keep going and when you get the job - do your best! Also, because English is not my first language, the Premium Grammarly account helped me write nice proposals. Best of luck to you! :)
