This is a video compilation of all Legolas' speaking parts in The Lord of the Rings. Sorry if the quality isn't stupendous, but it is what it is. Enjoy!
Mine is when he's greeting Aragorn when he comes back and he looks at him and goes,"You look terrible." I started crying because I was laughing to hard. 😂😂😂
The fact that he only has 5 minutes of speaking yet still has won over so many fans is really a testimony to how good the books, trilogy, and acting is
Legolas has a few lines in the books too. This has to do with his character arc. And YES, HE DOES HAVE IT xD Here it is: At the very beginning, he is very silent, and only speaks to characters he knows from his past - Aragorn and Gandalf. He is disconnected from the rest of the characters, because he is an immortal elf, and everyone else appears to him as mere children by comparison. All he has known his entire life was hunting and he only knows how to deal with his fellow wood elves, he knows nothing about other races, and how to bond with them, especially dwarves. In the books, just after he entered Fangorn Forest, he confesses to Aragorn and Gimli that he perceives them as immature younglings. It's a pity that part was cut from his monologue in the movie, where he only mentions that the forest is old. Still, I think the message of him feeling out of place and being silent and closed up comes across really well. The whole point of his own journey as a character is that he opens up by the end. After having his back taken in battle countless times by man, hobbits and even dwarves, whom he only perceived as rivals or enemy's his entire life he starts sharing, talking with them, empathizing and by the end he confesses his feelings for Gimli, saying that he perceives him as a friend, and that dying by his side will be honor for him, which is a very important moment for him. I admire LotR, because it gave life to so many characters. There are 9 characters in the fellowship alone, and countless people they meet along the way, and everybody has a character arc that's meaningful and unique. This truly is the greatest movie trilogy of all time. Everything, from the music, cinematography, camera work, effects and acting, all the way to story details like individual character arcs is done with absurd amount of dedication and skill. This trilogy is legendary. Humanity is very unlikely to produce anything even close to this in the future.
Thank you. I haven’t read the books yet (yes, I know what you’re gonna say, first read the books and then watch the movies, and I did it the other way around, but only because I didn’t HAVE the books and the movies appeared on Netflix, I couldn’t resist) but I’m planning to. This did make me understand Legolas’ character better.
Quite a comment my friend, very touching. Idd there is not a single character who doesnt have an arc and a role to play in this marvelous journey, because LOTR is a journey, the journey of life. And like Galandriel said, even the smallest person can change the course of history. This movies are like 9 hours long (about 11 with the deleted scenes) and you still wish you could have more interactions amongst the characters, more subtle expressions and ways to speak their minds and feelings. For example I love the scenes were Aragorn and Legolas exchange words. They dont have many, but the convey exactly what they intend and you can understand that they have huge respect for each other. But you see this in minor scenes - u dont get huge dialogues pf exposition or smthing like most movies nowadays. Lotr is truly the best movie when it comes to detail and expertise in EVERY SINGLE SCENE! And although it is a huge movie you still cant stop but feast your eyes on the screen! Unfortunately, the Hobbit has almost none of that and Legolas is just a cheap killing machine with nothing interesting in him… I didnt want to bring up the Hobbit but I wanted to comment what a let down legolas was…STILL THE LOTR IS SPLENDID!
Yes. He had too little speaking lines, but whenever he is on scene you have to look at him, you can’t ignore that he’s there. He didn’t need that many lines, it seems.
Legolas: They're taking tho hobbits to Isengard! Me: They're taking the hobbits to Isengard, to Isengard, they're taking the hobbits to Isengard, gard, ga ga ga gard!
I hate it when Legolas talks in a poetic manner and I kinda get lost for a moment and not pay attention at all to what he's trying to say, prompting me to rewind and repeat.
When i rewatched all this scenes with Legolas after so much time - i realised why i was (and still) so in love with him. It's not just his looks (through it still amazes me how absolutely *perfect* his face are), it's Orlando Bloom's acting. He had given very little lines, but was amazing at acting with his eyes and expressions. His eyes are so wide-open, with playful sparkles in them, like all of the world is something new and wonderful for him. Like a child's eyes. And there is always something unearthy in them. Orlando Bloom did an amazing job in making his character feel not human, but another, wonderful and mysterious creature. He was a true elf in this movies!
Probably he made those awesome facial expressions in the background because he didnt get lines enough, like: oh you guys dont give me lines...Ok, nevermind, i dont need them anyway. And this is one of the reasons why i love him so much
I think he has more speaking time in one Hobbit film than the entire LOTR trilogy. 5 minutes in 9 hours of film? C'mon... and some of these scenes were extended scenes so I'm not sure if they count. I was also dissappointed with the fact that Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli didn't have epilogue scenes, they were my favorite characters! Glad they brought Legolas back in The Hobbit films though!
Legolas as character also does not talk that much in the books. He's very distant except for Gandalf and Aragorn whom he knows longer. But still, he's every one's favourite elf tho. Nonetheless. Lucky Orlando 😂😂
His voice is so soft. It's like a silk touching your ears. It's hypnotizing you with it's melodic softness. Totally ASMR. A woud've listen an audiobook voiced by him to go to sleep. Also he have such poetic lines... can he just sit with me and tell me everything about elves and nature with this elegant way of speaking and his calming, soft voice?
I remember when return of the king was shown on cinema, and everyone just sort of scream and fangirl over when Legolas appear or say something lol. Always my favorite Elf, and always the reason I love to watch LOTR
Legolas (Orlando Bloom) is the kind of actor who loves what he does, is serious and plays his role perfectly, but when the camera is turned off, he is funny and very friendly. If I ever saw him in real life, it would be the best day of my life.
What the hell is wrong with you people. Tolkien was catholic. It would be more likely that he'd allow Sauron to win than that he would allow any homosexual content in his stories. He portrays dozens of man to man relationships, and all of them are friendships. If you see anything more there, you've failed hilariously.

I was lauging at the many "oh he has online fixe minutes speaktime"- commentars here. yes it is true. Butter he speaks also with his Face quiet good. Look AT him When he is in the Background you Can See his great Mimic Play. I love that even more.
When you realize Legolas isn't actually Frodo's friend like the others cause other than him saying "And you have my bow" he never speaks a single word to him.

The fact that he only has 5 minutes of speaking yet still has won over so many fans is really a testimony to how good the books, trilogy, and acting is
No, it’s just because Orlando Bloom is ridiculously hot and the director gave him crazy stunts in the films. Legolas is unremarkable in the books.
it's kind of sad how the entire trilogy took around 9 hours back to back and legolas has only spoken for about 5 mins. sad life
Ruby Kim what's even more said is that it s actually 11 hours and most of his big speaking parts were cut out of the movie
This is a very late reply but at least he had sick stunts to show off with
@@OddSocksQueen Also a lot of the time he was just there to make funny facial expressions or just to be 'there'
And all his lines are just stating the obvious, this was the only character that they couldn’t quite get to work in the films
