3:30 after rereading the books, what Sam is doing right now is awesome. Hobbits stay away from both boats and water if they can help it, so him trying to make it out to the boat without even knowing how to swim is really impressive and just further shows his dedication to Frodo and his duty to protect him. There's 3 possible explanations! 1) Saruman is highly analytical and so would have planned out possible meals for resource distribution during excursions like the raid on Amon Hen. The Uruks then got used to planning their meals around these "menus". (Practical Theory) 2) The Uruk said something else in Westernesse that was close enough to "Menu" for the translation to menu to be valid so that the viewer could draw a better understanding of the situation. (Freedom of Translation Theory) 3) Uruk-hai are long corrupted Elves that were crossbred with humans. There's a scene where the Wildmen of Dunland are swearing allegiance to Saruman and they go out with the Uruks to plunder the Rohirrim. It's possible that some of these Wildmen had experience with inns and taverns in Rohan and so taught the idea to the Uruks. (Cross Culture Theory) Personally the second option is the most likely, as it's the excuse Tolkien himself used to explain why some things appear to be similar to modern phrases, as he was just the translator of The Red Book of Westernesse.

if i recall correctly, i think frodo’s parents died by drowning; so, sam’s bravery and dedication in that act is all the more touching

There's a scene where the Wildmen of Dunland are swearing allegiance to Saruman and they go out with the Uruks to plunder the Rohirrim. It's possible that some of these Wildmen had experience with inns and taverns in Rohan and so taught the idea to the Uruks. (Cross Culture Theory)
Personally the second option is the most likely, as it's the excuse Tolkien himself used to explain why some things appear to be similar to modern phrases, as he was just the translator of The Red Book of Westernesse.
