Very thorough test and great economy figures for such a big heavy diesel! I'm not keen on mild hybrid tech since it doesn't really seem to be that radical as a technology, but you've certainly gotten very advanced economy from it!

Helmut thanks for your video. This Volvo diesel / hybrid is not available in the U.S. Reminds me of a VW station wagon. Diesel fuel here is still too expensive and the addition of Urea in the fuel system is also an added cost. Here at our local supermarket regular gas is $4.659 / gallon (U.S.),
    diesel fuel is $5.949 / gallon (U.S.).
As you can see there is no benefit with diesel like there once was. Even if that Volvo was for sale here nobody would probably buy it for any economical benefit.
Thanks again Helmut for letting us see vehicles that you review that are not available here in the U.S., and of course some that are.

Thanks, I know, not all cars I test are available everywhere.. but at least I educate the world's motorists about what's around elsewhere :)

Have you ever driven something with Fiat's 2 cylinder 900cc twinair engine? I'm probably better off with a Toyota but I almost bought one as its more economical according to the test cycle, but user data suggests it's around 46mpg Vs the claimed 70mpg on the test cycle.
I suppose it could just be inefficient drivers with a turbo which pushes the fuel economy so low? XD

In my country - even a full loaded T8 version of this car, is like 14.000 euro cheaper, due to taxes on these fossil-cars..

F**k. My 2013 Accord VIII 2.2 DTEC would score no less than ~7l/100km
