I bought an unsaintly JLU after 2 jks and one jku. The longer wheelbase made it possible for me to get over some deep obstacles on one of the hills my jks could never make it up. Oh, and I can sleep in it.

Seriously fraudulent - but guaranteed to get lots of likes from Jeep fans. I like keeps but they have great strengths and great weaknesses - relatability and Quality control are not strengths. Better to be honest about it....
I don't agree. Jeep used soccer moms to increase the price of the jeep. Jeeps would have never lost its fan base. 60,000 dollars for a jeep is insane. This will last for a while until the quality starts to suffer. People will stop waving, the tradition will suffer. Remember the VW bug? A generation lost.
My dad passed his Yj sahara to me when I was in Highschool, then I got a TJ, and now own a JK. Ive owned sports cars and trucks but the Jeep always felt super right for me.
Hey Tommy, you can move the seats more than what you showed. It's called Tip n' Slide or something like that. Works on both seats (at least on my 2018 2 door JK Sport S), you basically move the back forward like you did, but then if you keep pushing the top of the seat forward towards the dash the seat will tilt from the base. This makes the access to the back much more easy.
When you push your seat forward to get in the back, give it an upward tug. It is designed to move forward and up for even more space to get in the back
It doesn’t really work on the driver’s side from what I’ve seen when using them. Does on the passenger side where there is more clearance for the seat to actually move forward.
Jeep expanded their customer base by making the JK the most accessible Wrangler ever... that same expansion brought in a lot of soccer moms and non-traditional off-roaders, which only annoys the purists and no one else. There are more soccer moms buying Wranglers than there are purists not buying them, so Jeep sells more vehicles and the JK became the best selling Wrangler ever. I expect the JL to outsell the JK over time.
Maybe the purists are BUILDING more Jeeps. And people who actually wrench on their own stuff usually can't afford or don't want to pay $50 for a new Jeep. That is the biggest crock of shit ever. Bought my first 98 Wrangler for $10k in 2001.
Just gotta say, I've heard you in different videos reference the turn signals being in the wrong place on the JK a few times saying they belong out on the fenders... That is incorrect if you look back from the original, the signals were on the grille. The TJ was the only one to have them out on the fenders before the JL. If anything had it wrong up to the JK it was the TJ.
Great video. I recently traded a 2001 two door for a 2106 Willys Wheeler two door. I was very skeptical of the newer model. It felt too fragile and fancy to take off road. While its nice enough as a daily driver in terms of comfort, its a rather boring ride. But, when I get it on the trail, wow, it comes to life. I find it way more capable than my older Jeep and its still stock. I know there are those who complain about various features ( for me it's the truly awful stereo interface), lack of storage, the need for expensive mods, etc. Yes those things are true, however that is also the fun of a Jeep. They are for people who want to make them their own and I think Jeep buyers know that going in. For me, I enjoy figuring out how to make it work for me ( and my budget) and I think most Jeepers do. Yeah they can be mall crawlers, but who cares. Its what you chose to do with it.
I’m looking to buy the 2010 Manual which has been fully kitted out and in very good condition. It runs the 3.8 which I got to test drive today. Personally I did not feel it to be sluggish like some comments on various forums are saying and also there is negative comments about oil usage and other stuff, which it making me wonder if it’s worth getting now. Considering the price I can get it for is low, it should be a good deal. Only done 68k miles. Primary use is for off roading and camping, so will have a box trailer up to about 1100kg I’ll be towing which should not be a problem I HOPE Be good to get your opinion, cheers
I am owner of an Jeep Wrangler JK unlimited. I and my 3 dogs LOVE, LOVE this great vehicle !!!! I live in Austria, Europe, ( Styria, Graz the hometown of Arni !!!!!!!!!)
I removed my back seats of my jk 2 dr immediately after purchase . Makes it way more of a true utility vehicle . Besides, people actually dont mind riding in the back like that . Its more comfortable than the actual seats .
@@jeep2003 we are in 2019 not the 80's so stop complaining about the plastic grill and fender(wich i prefer scratch than a metal one that will rust) , if you have the chance compare the frame of a cj7 and a jk or the driving shaft or the tierod or the u joint etc everything on the jk is stronger if you want somethings only for off roading go and buy a side-by-side.

I just bought a 2017 JKU to replace my 1999 TJ (four banger) and I gotta say i feel like a sell out, the ride is so plush. You cant compare the two jeeps. The TJ has street cred and soul. The JK feels like a NPC mall crawler for the masses. Having said that, Im selling the TJ since the JK is easyer to live with everyday, driving/room for kids/cargo ETC.
Back in the late 70’s I had a CJ7 with a 258 slant 6, manual, high arch springs, Monroe Magnum shocks and “Ground Hog” tires. Had a lot of fun and misadventures in the machine. There may have been some chemical influences involved in those adventures. 🤪
The 258 was an AMC motor: a traditional American inline six with 7 main bearings & NOT a slant\6 as that used four large 426 HEMI main bearings...that's the Mopar "Leaning Tower of Power" for you! Those 2 ChryCo. motors were designed by the same guy (Willem Weertman). The 258 was eventually replaced by the famous AMC Jeep 4.0L inline six in late 1986 and survived till 2006 when the last real Jeeps were made.
I've had my 2013 jeep wrangler sport for 3 months now and I love it. I'm doing some upgrades to it as funds are available. It has the V6 6speed with the 2 door and soft top. Love it. My dad had a 77 Jeep Renegade with the 4speed and 304 V8 . Love it and had a ball in it.
Tommy - your 2 door JK is a beauty! The mods you have done to it are just right. Nothing over the top. When Jeep first introduced the 4 door, I thought it was an abomination. Jeeps are two doors only!! Yet, overtime I have come to really like the 4 doors. Great video as usual.
Haha. I LOVE the little cargo net in front of the shifter. I use it to keep cash and turnpike cards for super easy access when coming to toll booths! slip a couple of bills in and its much easier to get out than from my pockets.

I love when people do reviews on certain vehicles and down them because their not something else. It's a Jeep. Not a sports car, pickup truck, or a family vehicle with a trunk large enough for all their luggage. It's exactly what it's been for years, a two-door Jeep with no room for hardly anything besides the passengers. lol. And like saying it has a minivan engine. Facts are the engine is the most powerful engine that's ever come in one. lol. I guess I just don't get it.

Cold Steel Recon 1 in the side slot that you mention can barely hold a pencil. Doesn’t move locks in perfect. I originally had my backseat folded up in order for a large trunk with gear. However wanted to figure out a way to keep the seat and not loose the gear. Found a way and you won’t believe what all I can fit in the trunk with seat up if done right. I think it’s even more than before :). You’ve gotta make your gear work for your Jeep and think outside the box a little. I need to do a walk around video sometime that might help some people. I’ve waited this long in order to get it setup with all the upgrades I want. However we know it never ends. Thanks for all the great Jeep videos lately have really enjoyed them! 🖐
Great Video and an awesome reminder as to why I did not go back to a Jeep last year. I love all the storage bins in my full size truck and Obviously Jeep is still not making it easy to stow gear in the modern age without spending lots of money at Quadretec to enhance the functionality of the JK's interior.
@@michael9678727 I know. But I had my TJ 20 years ago and my style of "offroad life" has changed a bit with my changes in career and marriage/family. :-(

I love it and with the top down and half doors crusin' around I get compliments all the time, it looks and feels great while summer driving. A lift and bigger tires in the snow means you can wheel with confidence post blizzard while all the sedans are stuck in drifts. BTW my back seats have been folded for three years with no issue. Good review Tommy.
Fireblade1000cc absolutely, the JK will go down as a classic in due time, they’re just outstanding offroad , a great platform and better than its predecessors . Anyone who says different just isn’t being honest and haven’t spent enough time in the offroad scene. The JL will be better than the JK but the difference won’t be as big as going from the TJ to JK was.
@@jrexplores5488 the JL may be better in some ways but it's got too much technology in my opinion. And things like the FAD and STT that no one seems to like.

@@jrexplores5488 yeah I think the diesel is going to pull a ton of people towards buying a JL. That's probably the only reason I'd consider buying one. It's too bad the JK never had a diesel.
I've owned two JKs, and I've driven the Pentastar in the Grand Cherokee, 300, Ram 1500, and the Pacifica. It is simply an excellent engine in all of them. In 45k miles, on my first JK, the only issue was the oil pressure sensor which was covered under warranty. I have no qualms about driving this thing anywhere.
@@jrexplores5488 The early Pentastars were a bit rough, but they did a massive update to them in (I believe) 2012 to address oil pressure issues, and another massive update in 2016 model year to improve other designs and net a bit more power.
I love the resale value of my Jk.The only thing potential jk buyers need to look at first before buying one is if it has locking differentials.Ive had 3 jeeps so far,an if I ever buy another one its gonna have locking diffs.Mainly because i would like to drive over other vehicles.
I have a 2013 two-door manual and I absolutely love it. As far as the nets go, I only put papers like receipts in there. The little net by the gearshift I keep some cash in there so I’ve got it if I ever need it but it’s kind of of sit. I put my change in the little section near the cupholders.
I'd like a JL or JT, but they feel more cramped inside than the JK. Also, I prefer the hydraulic steering of the JK. The 3.6L does well as long as you're not putting on heavy oversized wheels without regearing (C&D tested a 4dr from 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds stock). I'm a fan of all Wranglers, but the JK is an underrated member of the family. It has been a pure joy to own.. Just a solid, honest vehicle that makes you smile. There aren't many other vehicles like that.

Nice video but you pretty much made the case for not buying the JK for me. I've had a CJ7, YJ Sahara, 2 ZJs, and now a TJ Sport. Love all Jeeps but your pointing out the flaws in the JK makes me glad I have a TJ. Heart of a minivan, LOL!! And FWIW, IMO nothing beats the old 4.0 inline 6. High torque at low rpms, and you can beat it like a Timex!! Who cares about gas mileage in a Jeep. Still love all Jeeps, well maybe most, but the old-school ones are the best to me. You are correct about the wave. I always wave and if it is not returned just chalk it up to their ignorance. Most of the non wavers are driving the two door models. When you leave the blacktop you should follow the old Boy Scout saying-leave nothing but footprints (in this case, tire tracks), take nothing but photographs.
You clearly don’t know much about the power plant choices the JK used. There’s a reason the underpowered 4.0l was retired and it wasn’t to replace it with a crappier engine. The only good thing the 4.0 has in its corner is it is pretty damn reliable and that’s reallly it. The 4.0 would have been terrible in the JK

Yeah, that's why the 4dr outsells the 2dr in 3-to-1 sales numbers.
I bought my 2014 JKU new when I was 19. So far total repairs have been less than 200 dollars. I still have it, 10 years later, and have zero intentions of selling it anytime soon. It’s reliable, easy to work on, is fun, and can tow enough for almost all of my needs.
I have owned 8 Jeeps. 2 cj5 2 xj 1 zj 1 wj and 2 jk. I loved all my Jeeps especially the jk's. I'm not sold on the jl yet and will soon be purchasing my third jk a 2dr soft top 6 speed manual Rubicon.
JK 2dr soft top 6 speed manual Rubicon = Sheer brilliance!
The cj6 is great can't hurt it with a hammer
I own two Jeeps. A 2013 2 door JK and just purchased a 2016 4 door JK. The JL has too many nanny state stuff on it for my taste. Stick with the JK until the figure out a true way to disable the automatic idle start stop system.
May I ask Please, what is 'wrong' with the JL?
Why are you not sold on the JL Please?
Thank you and regards.
The freedom panels in the bag are supposed to go behind the seat and strap onto the back seat.
Most Jeep purists do not realize: if not for these "soccer moms" buying the unsaintly 4-dr Wranglers, there will be no Wrangler production.
Jun Wang well said
They don’t care because they’re not buying the newer ones
I bought an unsaintly JLU after 2 jks and one jku. The longer wheelbase made it possible for me to get over some deep obstacles on one of the hills my jks could never make it up. Oh, and I can sleep in it.
Can pretty much guarantee that the fast lane car people - worst reviewers on the net. Roman can’t drive a regular car of a wet paper bag, and now they actually promoting and touting keep reliability?
It is designed to move forward and up for even more space to get in the back
found that entertaining.... could see it wanting to pop up and move forward but he just didn't know haha
It doesn’t really work on the driver’s side from what I’ve seen when using them. Does on the passenger side where there is more clearance for the seat to actually move forward.
People love to complain “PERIOD”
First world problems
Ivote4trump2spitetheleft are you really mad? Now I’m mad.
Facts
Jeep expanded their customer base by making the JK the most accessible Wrangler ever... that same expansion brought in a lot of soccer moms and non-traditional off-roaders, which only annoys the purists and no one else. There are more soccer moms buying Wranglers than there are purists not buying them, so Jeep sells more vehicles and the JK became the best selling Wrangler ever. I expect the JL to outsell the JK over time.
Carcaine just bought a JL and i like it and the soccer moms dont jeep wave which is kinda of anoyying
Carcaine
Well, maybe the "jeep purists" should buy more jeeps and shut the hell up.

Ace C.S. I fought that too. Only thing I feel was the turn signals should have been place a little more inboard like the CJ’s
Well done Tommy. I love my Jeep and it's a 2016. All my older Jeeps got love too.
In 07 I bought my 2 door JK. Still going today 452k miles. Have become a JK mechanic.
WOW! 452k miles! That's wonderful!
The 3.8 in a 2 door manual transmission is a good match also long lasting. Have over 220000 miles and going strong.
Primary use is for off roading and camping, so will have a box trailer up to about 1100kg I’ll be towing which should not be a problem I HOPE
Be good to get your opinion, cheers

I just bought a 2017 JKU to replace my 1999 TJ (four banger) and I gotta say i feel like a sell out, the ride is so plush. You cant compare the two jeeps. The TJ has street cred and soul. The JK feels like a NPC mall crawler for the masses. Having said that, Im selling the TJ since the JK is easyer to live with everyday, driving/room for kids/cargo ETC.
Got a 2007 JK 2 door 3.8 ltr . She has230,000 miles on it, doesn’t burn oil. Had to replace the rear main seal last month. Still looks and runs good.

However wanted to figure out a way to keep the seat and not loose the gear. Found a way and you won’t believe what all I can fit in the trunk with seat up if done right.
