Great video Stuart. Thanks for reviewing Construction Lines. Like you, I'm used to a SketchUp workflow so miss the functions that aren't in Blender. I'm continuing to develop both Add-ons all the time, as I want to move fully to Blender soon (I've been working professionally between both for years), so expect another update soon! You're spot on that Blender is a complete package, it can do just about anything (though slightly weaker on the CAD side) from modeling, sculpting, animation, simulation, rendering, etc. and will always be free, so no worries about moving to a subscription model like SketchUp.

Thanks Dan! It’s a great addon and I’m not kidding when I say it could be a sketchup killer! Thanks!

_"slightly" weaker on the CAD side_
      understatement of the decade

I really like the add on!
It needs more work on the vertex snap selection, in a scene with many objects it’s almost impossible to snap onto the right corner.
CAD transform does this really well.
I think the key is not allowing back facing vertices to be selectable.
Otherwise great job my friend, blender really can do with at least the foundation basics for CAD or simple drawing and editing.
Have you thought about adding a function that enables users to move an object and it snap to the surface of other shapes based on direction of its normals.
This would be such a big thing for new users coming from CAD softwares to more easily place objects.

It's cool but there is not a simple measurement option to show on a render. When we design something we need this measurements showed on a simple way as sketch up to illustrate things to construct. I think that this is a good step but when the measurements are no possible to be seen properly on the render it's a problem for arquitecture visualization.

When I installed blender in my windows O.s . It killed my sketchup and WIndows. I now use linux mint and blender. it also killed Adobe products, i now use gimp and sweethome3d.

I was in the same boat as you - didn't like where SKP was heading and their subscription service and as of this comment Blender has been getting more features and add-ons that make it hard not to jump ship. I'm currently in the process of learning Blender and so far I've not regretted making the move. Blender is the future and the upcoming updates will just add more value for people who need precision control over their models.

I just got the addon last night (only just heard of it). I made the change to Blender a couple years ago (for game assets- sketchup is no good for that) and have sorely missed sketchup features. Anyway in architecture school ten years ago I found you can get a perfect working cracked version of sketchup pro on pirate bay (that’s what we all used), and I kept doing it- updating every year for free- you can still do it. I have the latest version of sketchup and I just don’t use it, blender is awesome.
