On It! 45596 'Bahamas' - The West Somerset Steam Express - 12th August 2023

- Saturday 12th August saw the Railway Touring Company chartering the second of their 2023 run of 'West Somerset Steam Express' tours from London Paddington to Minehead and back, with LMS Jubilee No.45596 'Bahamas' at the helm. This short video sees the camera at Wolfhall Bridge, on the Berks & Hants Line, where the remains of the bridge which carried the Midland & Southern Junction Line over the B&H can be seen. With intermittent rain coming in, mixed with a splash of sunshine, Bahamas announces her arrival onto the scene with gusto, putting on the most ferocious performance I've ever captured from her as she rips up the last mile of the long climb to Savernake.

Filmed on a Panasonic HC-X1500 with an Audio-Technica BP4025 microphone.

I was on it. Great trip. On the return leg, the driver was making up time on the secondary route section through Frome. We were motoring. I asked the train staff what speed we had achieved and they smiled and told me 75mph .😉
