Hey Megan! Your yard is going to be really nice this summer! Can’t wait to see it. Btw, I’m a retired police officer and had two police K9’s. They both lived with me. It’s more convenient because k9 teams can be called out at any time. I also worked in Iraq as a civilian police advisor/trainer for Iraqi police officers. Then, I worked 2 yrs as a bomb dog handler. He retired when my contract ended, so I was able to bring him home and he spent his retirement years with me.

A pergola would be nice in your patio sitting area. Since you already have a concrete slab I would build another shed on it. The storage would add so much to your needs, like the bikes in there. But anyway I love outdoor ideas and improvements

I never see anyone use straight leg pop up tents. We use them in the summer for a shade to extend our patio. They are just temporary but do the job in the summer. I don't know if it's too windy where you live, but you can stake the legs. Also, they are great for hanging plants around the frame. The tent tops are replaceable in different colors. And even if you don't have the tent top on they are great for hanging plants on the frame and you can move it around the yard when you want to. 😊

Just a suggestion but surely it would be better to have an area where you can store the carpets and cushions throughout the winter months to keep them cleaner. I agree with the idea of a special sand between your pavers. Much less weeding in the long run! Flowers and grass under your tree either won’t grow or will struggle in the shade and I agree with others that a fire pit near your tree is not a good idea 🥰. Everything looks so much better with your hard work today so far. Well done 👏

Hello! You’ve probably already heard this from someone but, they make screened in “porches” made almost like your new shed but screened. We have one that we put in our patio slab and we LOVE IT. I can’t add a pic but it was Very reasonable!! 😊. It opens with a sliding screen door on both sides so we can come in one way and go out another!!

It's coming along great! Sweeping some polymeric sand in between the pavers will save you from weeding for a really long time. Sprinkle some pellet herbicide before sweeping the sand, then soak the sand with water to harden it! I. Hate. Weeding. So. Much. Lol. I can't wait for the next video! ❤

My friend does power washing and stains decks too in the next couple of weeks he’s going to do my house my parents are working on our home little by little we had the house renovated, just added sprinklers last year they did the garden area and walk way with new bricks out in. The sheed and play structure uses pressure treated wood. As you were informed, toxic for burning. The area under the tree would be a great idea, my tree branches are a little lower than yours. Just keep the branches trimmed every so often. Love the raised garden bed ideas. I'm actually doing one that will be focused on salads, everthing you would need for making delicious salads. Other ideas are planting for salsa making, or vegetables that are good for grilling/roasting. If you could hold off on covering the patio and doing it next year I would say, 2-3 sails, layer them and maybe even pick out different colors, not bright but muted. You use the hooks and I believe a tension wire to tighten them up I personally would focus on the gardens, fire pit area and plants around the yard, to two love seats. Take the money for the patio and put into the fire pit area... then next year focus solely on the patio getting covered. Enjoy and can't wait to see how everything turns out.

Many handlers also keep the dog with their family after the dog retires. Could you put the garden next to the shed and use the concrete patio for the firepit area? I wouldn’t put the fire pit under the tree. I would put the garden beds in a sunny spot not under a tree. It might be too shady. But a potting shed might look really cute there.

You have a big patio. It’s nice but I understand how hot it could be. And I understand the leech field. Ours is in the front yard. We have land. But our backyard is small and fenced for our dogs. And we have too many bugs and critters here. I’m always inside before it gets dark. We really can’t enjoy our land. We have carpenter bees in the daytime. I can’t stand those things. And lots of wasps. Our land is just wild except for where our house is. And it’s on the side of a mountain. So it’s all uphill or downhill depending on which way we’re walking. And downhill is much easier. We would like to move somewhere flat. You have a great set up. We had a fire pit under a tree at our old house. And it was fine. But it was the kind that had a screen cover over it. I can’t wait to see how everything turns out.

We had carpenter bees too! You’ll definitely want to get those taken care of. They can cause a lot of damage to your home if you let them go unchecked.

If your concrete area gets a lot of shade from the tree, the garden idea may not work as you like. Flowers and vegetables need full sun to grow, which is like 6-8 hours of full sun.

Honestly, I wouldn't have a fire under that tree. It might be okay, but sparks and embers can fly high, and in my opinion, it's just not worth the risk.
