But not long before those memes began, I'd made a rather deep analysis, looking into the backstory of some of its cast and characters, mainly... How Ted is the grandson... Of none other than The Once-Ler! How is this possible? What could be going on here?! Well, today I prove it in every possible way, using Grammy Norma's hints, genetics, a timeline, a family tree, and one single absolutely mind blowing hidden animation detail that proves it ALL! It's pretty much my best theory ever, and this is me bringing it back... Revising it... And making it my best VIDEO ever. Enjoy!

When Ted approached the Once-ler about the trees he asked if it was for a girl. It's like he knew that already because Norma remembered the trees and loved them. Seeing as she was one of the first to sing in let it grow.
It was actually Sy, just the O'hare delivery guy, but he thinks that trees might be worth a try, so he says, let it grow

I did always wonder how Granny Norma knew where The Onceler was. This was very eye opening and amazing.
Here is my theory as to how he is Ted's grandfather.
Ted's grandma knew so much about The Once-ler because he is her husband AKA Ted's grandpa.
If you remember she bought some marshmallows as to knowing he likes them, but she never told Ted about it.
She also mentioned how she 'Remembered when trees were everywhere' stating to she had to be around the Once-ler's age at the time he cut them down to remember.
And at the end the stone showed the word "Unless" and the quote at the end said ' Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." Ted's grandmother cared enough to help him get a tree as to also help herself see The Once-ler again and for him to meet his grandfather, without her telling Ted who he was.

I always had the idea that the once-ler protected the grandmother and her daughter forgetting about them so that the people would not banish her from the town for destroying the trees, the grandmother would understand and make sure that her daughter did not know that once-ler was her father.
You missed something. You know how the grandma was very specific about what was needed to see the onceler? Perhaps they made that list of things together so that the onceler would know that the person was sent there by her...

You should do a video on how Horton hears a who and the Lorax are in the same universe. In the Dr. Seuss musical (Seussical) in The Who’s first song they directly say that it is. “For on the other side of town: the truffula trees were all cut down. They once stood tall in all their glory, but that’s another story.”
The musical does go into more detail on some other stories too, so I think it would be something you would enjoy watching 😁.

@Ginger Kubicz You would be right. All his stories are set in the same universe and all his stories are related to the other. So they can all be about different things, but still be set in the same world/place.
When I watched the film, I didn't connect the evidence for this theory in it to the theory itself, but thinking back now, Norma's point of her "[remembering] when trees were everywhere" during "Let It Grow" really supports her being present both in the tree era and the era of tree destruction.
There is a scene in the movie at time 46:10-15 where you can see that Grammy Norma also buys marshmallows as a treat. I saw this and that is actually what made me want to look up Lorax theories, as I believed the Once-ler would have to be Ted's grandfather.

I can accept that theory about Once being Ted’s grandfather. It does makes sense.
What I’d like to know is what happened between the time after the forest’s destruction and O’Hare’s rise to power by selling air. I’d like to know what O’Hare did to prevent people from knowing about trees. He had to cover this up REALLY well. I mean I’m guessing he banned any kind of knowledge about trees (or biology for that matter).
It's the air. O'Hare air is contaminated with a serum that makes people forget things. Of course, it'd be impossible for them to forget just trees alone, so they probably put enough in one container for the recipient to forget a few decades worth of memory.
I'd say it started innocently with him creating a way to sell air and he started a small business lemonade stand style. Since all the trees are gone at that point people start flocking to his stand, but poor and older people either can't make it, or can't afford it. O'Hare realizes that this will make him rich and creates a monopoly over life. Only the rich can survive.
He starts selling the idea of a gated community, away from the poor who are gasping for air and are probably rapidly dying. He decides to build the wall around the city, probably using the idea of a utopian city to get people on his side. Since he controls the city he controls things like schools, and he uses that power to erase the existence of "old" trees, but the older people would still know about them, so he created the inflatable and electric trees to keep them happy. He'd probably spread the idea that these trees are gross and disgusting (for the poor), and the people were forced to agree with the guy literally keeping them alive. Eventually people are too afraid to talk about trees, especially because O'Hare has been shown to cover up the truth.

I realized something about monsters university, in the scene where sully and mike scare the adults, they actually touched a doll. A toy which would’ve been known as toxic, they winded it up and made it walk across the room. How would they not have known that human’s toys weren’t deadly if they touched one? It makes no sense. Unless they knew the entire Moster inc movie and didn’t say anything, but that would make even less since and cause even more problems.

Well, Monsters University directly contradicts Monsters Inc. I don’t think we can really truly use logic in that universe.

So.. I was watching a Lorax meme the other day with my sister. Where the scene shows O'Hare in Ted's living room, my sister pointed out something. Behind the table O'Hare was standing, there was a couch. There are 2 pillows, but one caught me and my sister's attention. It's circle, dark green (more of turquoise actually) colored with a gold button in the middle.
And that leads me to the Onceler's suit. It's dark green (almost turquoise) and it has gold buttons.
So.. another evidence? Maybe Norma would made a pillow with such an identical color to the Onceler's suit? So it would reminded her of him? Who knew.
Edit: I was watching How Bad Can I Be, in the scene where the Onceler said "Come on, How bad can this possibly be!?" And there was a photo frame in his desk. I took a screenshot and brighten it up. As far as my eyes can see;
A shoulder, some hair that looks puffy, and glasses. This could be another evidence. It could be a portrait of Norma, or just his mama, or maybe just some trees? (But again, who knew.)

One time I saw a family tree that said that the Once-ler’s half brothers Chet and Bret were the fathers of O’Hare’s bodyguards. The Onceler has a sister who is Rose’s mother, and is married to Dan, the son of Aunt Grizelda’s adoptive son. They have Wesley who I think should marry Marie. And then he is Norma’s ex.

What if once-ler realised it was his grandson by the the three items? In the movie we see once-ler push Ted away until he sees the items, it obvious that he want people to stay away from him, so why could he possibly want ted to come back? What if the items are some sort of signs to recognise each other, once-ler and Norma, like the really really old snail could represent lorax, or the 15 cents could represent the quote. Why could he possibly need those items anyway?
I didn’t think he actually saw the items Ted had; it looked like it was the word “trees” that got his attention. But maybe he did. It’d make sense if that was meant to be a clue for him that the person was sent there by Norma, but I doubt he’d have figured out it’s his grandson just from that

I remember when the ads for the movie were out and I got Ted and Once-Ler mixed up. I thought the Lorax was punching Ted until I actually saw the movie.
I love that movie! I watched it like a week ago and i noticed how both norma and the lorax could perhaps teleport? Lile they both suddenly appear out of nowhere, norma keeps appearing behind Ted and lorax randomly appears in the oncelers house, also bothe their passion for trees! It is also weird since they are probably the only characters who might be able to teleport in the entire movie, but afterall they are both mysterious in a way and perhaps she symbolises the lorax? Idk...

I just noticed while watching it for the, I dunno, 59th time in the last 2 weeks (I introduced it to my 2 year old, she obviously loves it!) that there is another nugget that furthers this theory. When Ted is getting ready to go to the Onceler the last time, Grammy comes out of the store with a bag. On top of the bag is marshmallows. The ones Ted gives to the Onceler maybe??? So Grammy knows the Onceler likes marshmallows! Not sure if you already mention this or noticed. But, after watching it as many times as you(probably) I've started noticing and wondering about things lol.
Its confirmed that the once ler had a partner cause in the flash back where the Lord says "hey! You broke you're promise !" The old woman says " sorry "Mr" Once ler isn't meeting anyone". The Mr in that sentence confirms it all hope you see this!
