  • I’ve recently created a special program dedicated to healthcare professionals who need media training so they can confidently show up on camera, attract more patients, move up in their careers, and let their expertise shine. If that is you or you know someone who can benefit from this, click here: standoutinthemedia.com/

Edit: I shot this video quickly in March 2020 to get help out to people as fast as I could. Since then, I upgraded to this Logitech external webcam and had our company's production director professionally light my office. Also stripped down the background. I hope these general guidelines help you. More videos coming.
With the recent COVID-19 quarantines and the sudden switch to working from home, you might find yourself overwhelmed by the implementation of video conferencing systems like Zoom, FaceTime, Skype and Google Hangout.
How do you best represent your business and yourself when you’re not in a professional setting?
Here are a few tips to help you look the best on video conferencing calls and to make sure you get your message across to your audience from professional media & public speaking trainer, Kathryn Janicek.
It’s easy to make a good impression on video conferencing platforms as long as you have the proper lighting, angles, background -- and you look camera ready.
This is a difficult time for many people, and I want to give this free advice to help you. This is the advice I give clients worldwide.

Great tips - I found that the ones making the greatest impact are audio, lighting, the angle of the camera to one's face and looking into the lens when speaking. Brilliant explanation.

A white background is about the same as shooting in front of a window for a person of color.. :) Nice job, enjoyed the segment .

This is a very good point. I had to have a client add things to his wall this week just minutes before his interview. Thank you for this!

Very good tips. Thanks. I do think your background is cluttered and distracting, which is what you advise against. Otherwise, you practise what you preach.

Her tips were on point, but the resolution on her camera could have been better

I agree. Great guidelines. The background is a bit distracting, though.

Thank you. You're right. I transitioned to a new camera as soon as I released this video. Tried to move quickly to help people - but it definitely wasn't perfect. Had the office professionally lit too by our director.
