I needed these! My nursing school got moved online just like everyone else’s, only I’m in my 40’s and not 21 like my classmates. I definitely do not look rested and pink cheeked and ready to rock n roll at 7 am on a zoom call like a lot of them do! I’m applying these tips pronto. Thank you!
REALLY hilarious and helpful, Erin! One more thing that I think you’ve mentioned in your selfie video is the angle of the camera so it’s looking down on you instead of up so turkey neck and jewels are not emphasized, lol. 🥰
Love this. I need to know how to get a virtual background. I don’t see any “box below “ that you keep talking about. And I really want that closet list to copy. HELP!
this is perfect!! I have started working from home this week and I was horrified when I caught sight of myself on camera!! It is a shocking sight from the mirror to the camera. I have learned to smile to reduce the RBF. I can relate to that 100% Makeup and jewellery, even perfume, has helped me get ready for the reality of what everyone else is seeing. I am 54 so you can just imagine how frightful I look on camera. I used to be so pretty!! I also cut my hair (hairdressers are not allowed to work atm) to my jawline and that has given an instant facelift.
Thank you, Heather! It is sometimes strange to see ourselves on camera. Sometimes the angle of the camera can age us. Play around with it. Also the lighting can make a dramatic difference. xo
@@BusbeeStyle I agree about the lighting. I am positioned near a window during the day. Thanks so much, Erin. What is the best angle? Any other tips you can suggest? Seriously, I am receptive to anything that can help what other people are seeing of me right now. I feel like I need to make the world a better place and the sight of me on camera is adding to the world's problems!!
Hi, Heather! If you sit at your computer, or at your desk with your phone and open Zoom, you can play around with different lighting and angles. For example, my meetings have been in the evenings. I use two different light sources so that I can light my face without casting shadows. I adjust my chair height, adjust the angle of my laptop screen and I sit my laptop up on a couple of thick books to raise it up higher, so that I am looking up into the webcam lens. This elongates my neck and tightens any wrinkles! Practice smiling gently and looking directly into the lens - pretend you're making eye contact with the person who is speaking. It feels strange at first but it's more polite to look at someone when they're talking to you than to check out your own appearance on screen, right? So that's what I do! I'm a freelance actor, so, I'm giving you some tips that I've learned professionally. Have fun practising and let me know how you get on!
I don’t do zoom meetings but I just sat here and watched the whole video.....I loved the closet and dresser organization and clean out tips. I am working from home three days a week now and two days I must go to the office. Friday is one of the days I must go into the office and it is dress down day. Today when I went to grab a pair of jeans I was confident that any one I chose would fit and look good. Thank you!
Too funny but true. I was on a zoom call the other day and we were all laughing about how each of us had showered and washed our hair and put on a clean shirt in honor of the call. LOL.
This was so helpful. I used these tips in my Zoom meeting today and I looked so much better on my Zoom. What a huge change just the lighting made! I felt better too. Thanks
Thank you for this video. I am almost 76 and don't wear makeup any more. I have worked as a Certified Professional Secretary so have a fairly good wardrobe sense, but am eager to get info from you. I signed up. Thanks for being here for us. You are fun and great.
Thank you Erin!, I laughed so much watching your background movements and facial expressions. As a retired photography teacher, two days ago I just made a collage photo showing do’s and don’t lighting options for a friend whose recent sales videos on Facebook & IG have been frightful.
I 100% can’t top the naked husband in the background blooper. That’s hilarious. I didn’t know about the HD or touch up settings. That’s really helpful.
Erin! This video was right on time! I have had so many zoom meetings and it he like in the past three weeks! It’s total new territory for me. We start at 8am and sometimes I just have to have my camera off! Next week for sure I will use your tips so I can look and be my best. Thank you!
LOL. Laughing so hard at the floating head. A lot of reporters and TV personalities now reporting from home should see this. I’m amazed how bad most of their homes are. I just posted a video of a naked guy at a work meeting not realizing his video was on. LOL. Loved this video! Thank you!
I love how real you are . If you ever have up your day job you could be a comedian. You made my day better. Have you watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime.. It is for after kiddos go to bed. The girl reminds me of you...not looks wise..Love u beautiful girl. Even though I can not do hair on Zoom and do not conference call, I still enjoyed this a lot!!!!
Great tips! I'm on video calls all day long. Not many actual Zoom calls, and now I wish they were because I would love that touch up setting! Just so I can feel normal these days, I still get up at my usual time, get ready, and look (on the top) just like I do when I go to the office. That way I am always ready if there is a quick last minute video meeting, and I also just feel myself. Thanks again!
This was great...so funny and helpful. I’m so impressed that you have a team of 10! I would love to see a video of “A Day in the Life” of Erin, like how you manage the team, what goes into producing a video from start to finish, etc.
Thank you for this, Erin. Great tips, especially if you are the boss or the leader of your department. You can't lead by example by showing up in workout clothes or lounge wear in front of your team.
Some of this was really funny but very valuable. When we work with clients we also ask them to put on a light dusting of powder to cut down on the shine, both men and women. Great content.
My daughter's fiance was on a video conference and didn't tell her (she just thought he was on the phone) so she quietly snuck in and gave him a slice of pie. All of a sudden someone said "Hey, did you just get a piece of pie?" And then everyone started asking what kind of pie it was and telling him how lucky he is. It became the subject of the conference lol
Daughter asked me why I was laughing, told her your zoom story about your husband. She said the husband of one of the professors at her friend's university did the same thing last week! 😆 As always, love your show!
Hilarious! I wish I had your husband's self-confidence. Lol Thanks for the tips. I'm wearing my PJs with a full face of make up and plan to put on a blazer before my Zoom meeting.
First....that pink outfit is so flattering on you! The side cutouts are everything💗. And this video is so needed! I just went thru this with my adult kids that are working from home. I would catch them after a video call looking like they're just getting up for a snack during a home movie. I mean hair up in my buns, no type of skincare and the largest pair of glasses they own! My son was sporting a neck beard.....no, no, no!!! I sat them down and explained the importance of their appearances and why? For some reason....they did not think it their appearance mattered if they weren't in the office😒. Aahh...wrong! But we've fixed that issue and going forward they look much more presentable on video🤣! And those tips on the different settings.....I never looked at that. This is awesome....I can't wait ri share it with them. And you know I had to laugh with you about that penis in the background story! I have something similar...I was doing a Skype call with a friend from high school and my husband is in the background doing his "it's time for love" remix and dance🤣😂. I stopped him before the pants dropped...lol!!! My friend was crying with laughter! I was embarrassed and amused at the same time. His only question....how long are you going too...i be in the call? I was done!
Thank you so much, Melisia! I'm so glad that you were able to have that discussion with your kids. It's so important. Here is a link to my dress...and it's on sale! rstyle.me/+X-ezeyJYCA1Q2wZV_bL6Pw
Oh man, I've messed up everyone of these guidelines over the past 3 weeks...... thanks for the video, I had a good laugh at myself! I'll try to implement at least one of these next week.
This is perfect. I needed this video. Wish all zoom hosts were this amazing. Just got off a zoom meeting where the host scared all the ppl living alone. I am like omg. Don’t say that. Please do a video on how to speak or how to rephrase words in a zoom meeting. Being that it’s a zoom meeting and one person the host gets most of the air time it needs to be pleasant and less dramatic. In person it may not be so harsh. But in zoom with the camera on her face it was just awful. Just awful. My heart hurt for all the ladies listening in this morning. Anyway thank you for this video. Please stay safe stay positive and most importantly stay in faith. God protect us all. 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Erin! Thanks for the 'touch up my appearance' tip - great to know! Great video, really useful as I'm doing three or four Zoom sessions a week now! If this is you freaking out every other day, I would never know, your content output is fabulous! Your husband is cheeky, full of confidence, haha!
Loved it; thanks. Have been teaching online for the last 3 weeks; was a rough start, for sure. It takes a while to get the hang of looking into a cam and connecting with people as you don't have the usual feedback cues. Thank you for this. I'd add (maybe for older women, I'm 63) check the eyebrows, mine were very sparse and looked like they were only half there in the 1st Zoom I did, now I know to work on them too!
I love this. Thanks for sharing. I have a virtual interview coming up and I've been self-employed working from home since covid started so I'm not up to speed with all of this. I'm over 50 so I can relate to the things you said about women over a certain age. I especially love the clothing, makeup and hair tips. I would love to know what the person saw when your husband walked out naked, but I don't blame you for not bringing it up. That is so funny!
Erin - what a helpful video! I laughed out loud twice! Kudos to you and your team for putting this together for all of us. I’ll be sharing my my daughter who is using Zoom for work while now working from home, and she’s using it with friends while they are all sheltering in place. Have to say, if my husband was buck naked in the background of my video conference, I hope I’d be as graceful as you described ... I’d probably scream then laugh!
🤣🤣🤣 OMG ! That’s a story to tell for the rest of your life ! That’s honestly something my husband would do. -I love makeup and Peter Thomas Roth “ skin to die for” is a great CC cream. I love Clinique powder too on its own.
This the funniest video you have made. So nice to see your lighter side! Love you doing the what not to do parts in your work out wear. So funny. Great tips, I have shared with my teenage granddaughter as she has 2 zooms a day for school. Love it.
Great tips and so funny!!! Erin, I was laughing out loud😂, you made my day! One extra tip, especially if using a laptop, is that you set it bit higher, so that you are not looking down at the camera (shadows, double chin.). The pink dress that you are wearing, that is my dream dress! The May wedding I was going to attend is probably going to be later this year, so 🙏 maybe my budget allows to get it by then.
That's a good one 🤣🤣🤣 you are a lucky girl by having such a cool dude as a husband. Gratitude points 👍 Take care from Amsterdam 🙏(We are still in business as long as building materials are on hand. We're not in total lock down.)
I just “discovered” you because I was looking for videos about looking decent on Zoom. I really like your personality! Great tips, too. (Also - I, too, am the boss, so I don’t do my hair because I do yoga in the morning right before talking to my team. 😆 I do wear makeup and follow the other tips, though.)
You look so pretty in pink!! Seriously, is there a color you don’t look gorgeous in? Thanks for sharing great information as always!! You are so funny!
Omg! That pink dress is what dreams are made of. It's so beautiful, thank you for sharing it with us! I want to say "we are not worthy." I thought to myself her waist looks so incredibly tiny.
Thanks Erin! I would love to see more of these videos for Zoom...specifically more on makeup because the last Zoom I did my makeup looked heavy, when it was not in real life...also background is very important. How do we test a Zoom call to make sure everything is looking good. Great content! You rock!
Thanks for this video Erin. I’m on work video calls daily and had to step up my game. I’m assembling my ring light today and figuring out the best height for my webcam that is mounted on top of my laptop.
Make sure that your camera is slightly above you. You never want to look down to it. If you need to, prop your laptop up on some books. I hope that this helps! xo
Thank you!

This the funniest video you have made. So nice to see your lighter side! Love you doing the what not to do parts in your work out wear. So funny. Great tips, I have shared with my teenage granddaughter as she has 2 zooms a day for school. Love it.
Thank you so much, Janice! I'm so glad that you found it helpful! xo
Thank you for sharing, Eija! The pink dress is currently on sale. Here is the link: rstyle.me/+X-ezeyJYCA1Q2wZV_bL6Pw
That's a good one 🤣🤣🤣 you are a lucky girl by having such a cool dude as a husband. Gratitude points 👍
Take care from Amsterdam 🙏(We are still in business as long as building materials are on hand. We're not in total lock down.)
Thank you, Louise! xo
Thank you. We have our religious meetings on zoom and these are great pointers.
I'm so glad that you found this helpful, Lisa! xo
Thanks for the tips - very helpful!
Thank you, Gayle! xo
Fantastic! More please!
Thank you, Paula! xo
These are great! Thank you!
Thank you, Frances! xo
Thanks Erin! I will definitely take these to heart. Great tips for a newbie to this format.

I'm so glad this was helpful, Sarah! xo
Omg! That pink dress is what dreams are made of. It's so beautiful, thank you for sharing it with us! I want to say "we are not worthy." I thought to myself her waist looks so incredibly tiny.
Thank you so much, Lois! You are so kind! xo
Love this! I really appreciate your honesty Erin 👍🏼
Thank you, Sabrina! xo
Thanks Erin! I would love to see more of these videos for Zoom...specifically more on makeup because the last Zoom I did my makeup looked heavy, when it was not in real life...also background is very important. How do we test a Zoom call to make sure everything is looking good. Great content! You rock!
Yes, I desperately want to know this
Great information ... and funny!
Thank you, Leelo! xo
I hope that this helps! xo
Busbee Style Yes it does thank you!
Loved it! Thank you!
Thank you!
Good info....and hilarious!!! My husband would have responded the same! 😂😂😂😂 Can’t stop laughing! Thanks for that!
Thank you, Sheri. It sure is a great story! xo
