Accidentally slid a debit card on TOP of the open door (instead of BELOW it) and it took less than a minute to remove the whole front panel and retrieve the card after watching this video. Thanks!!!
LOL, that hand brake was giving you the business🤣. The problem with skippable chapters is that people skip them. Not being funny but we get a lot times where people skip sections of the video, and then makes a comment asking a question when the answer was in the part they skipped. When it comes to that, we just ignore the comment. You showed some really good tips, especially with disconnecting the plugs because those can be a nightmare!😡
I agree with people skipping the parts we have talked about. LOL. I am hoping that they can find the part they want as most have a very short attention span, and might just move onto some one else's video.
@@unclemarksdiyauto It's sad that I have to agree with you that most people have a short attention span. That's why TikTok is doing so darn good! MOST of their videos are like 9-30 seconds.
Thanks for making this video. The cable attached to the shifter that connects to the transmission came loose. I peeked under the hood and all was well outside, so I knew the problem was going to be under the shifter knob.
amazing video! After getting the console out i found out that the bushing from my transmission to my shifter popped off! Going to be an easy fix once i get the part.
@@Luusbueb66 Thanks! Forecast for latter this week is around 24F which is way better! (-7C in Canadian) Talk to you again one day soon. If you end up working on some thing interesting, send me a email (Found in my about section)
Thank you, as I am having issues with my 2007 Sebring automatic shifter. It is very stiff to pull out of park and into drive. A few months ago I spilt some sticky beverages around and on the shifter. So, I am thinking my shifter cable is all gummed up and needs to be cleaned and lubricated. I don't want to break any of the shifter linkage parts by over pulling on the shifter. If you have any shifter linkage maintenance tips please let me know. Thanks. :)
No tips on the shifter Joe. I don't thing there are any replaceable parts in the shifter either. I think it is sold as one unit. You are just going to have to pull out the console, and get access to shifter, then try unhooking the cable and see if the shifter moves freely or not. If it does, then probably a issue with the cable. I think it is actually 2 cables. 1 from shifter to shifter interlock under the dash, then one from there to the transaxle. I plan on doing one on removing the shifter, but even if I did one today, the release date would not be until April or May. (Videos are scheduled that far ahead.) (I also have a full working schedule as well) Also, the cable attaching to the shifter has a special adjustment that is changed when you unhook it. Best to do more research before attacking it.
Hope you were able to fix whatever you needed when you got the console out, Mutable Guy. I appreciate your being a subscriber & any comments you add to any of the videos.
I didn't have to remove any Allen screws. Thanks for commenting about it as you never know if somehow I missed mentioning it. I have seen some videos where they didn't film a bunch of steps and your wondering how did that ever come apart! Lol.
Hello from Finland! This was very helpful video because I think I need to remove this to get my hands on Dynamics Sensor (lateral/YAW) that is part of the ESP system. Can you confirm UncleMark is the Dynamics Sensor located there under this center console? Or is it possibly under the Radio behind the AC and Temp control knobs? Thanks if you can help, it has not been easy to find info on Dynamics Sensor replacing. (Mopar part 5033322AC)
Nice to hear from you Kyosti! I am not sure where that sensor is located but it is not under this console. A good automotive parts store should be able to tell you it’s location. I have just sold the car so I can’t look into it further for you. Sorry. A big hello back from Canada. I wish you all the success in your repair.
The console is a pretty tight fit with that handbrake in the way. It's like working a puzzle to figure out how to remove some of the trim on modern cars. Hidden clips, some things snap, some don't, tricky stuff!
Ugh. The main reason I am watching this is because the shift lock release button isn't doing jack squat so I wanted to get some better visualization on this thing to see why I can't shift her into neutral (dead battery + parked on slope= need to shift into neutral to move to flat ground to change the battery.)
@unclemarksdiyauto in a way, it was. What I ended up doing was I took the console cover off up to the point where the gear couldn't get out of park. I then propped up the back end of the console cover on a pretty fat book, creating a gap by the front big enough for me to work with. Turns out the pink button had fallen off the black circular mount that keeps it on the console. With some trial and error and some fancy flashlight work, I managed to remount the pink button and got the car to shift into neutral, so I could it into my garage and change my battery. With the battery in, I was able to have a guy program the PCM and now I have a working car again!

Glad it was of help. Not super easy to remove, but doable.
This was a very thorough and detailed video, better than a service manual. Thank you for doing an excellent job 🙏👏👏
Thank you so much! I hope it was not too long. Sometimes you really need to see every struggle so it is easier for you to do it!
It’s never too long if it’s showing good intel. It felt as if I had done it many times before, thank you again!
