@@sanansa4567 besides the taste bucko. Your tasted like a rubber newt compare to the most delicate, delicious flavors. You lose thoughts for words. It's an incredible experience.
Pretty sure Alinea still has 3 Michelin stars, unless you know someone in the Michelin committee and they have taken a star away (announcements for 2019 are being made next week)
Amazing video. As a former cook I can say I really appreciate the work and skill needed to craft the menu and the presentation of the meal. It is just beyond what a regular fine dining restaurant can ever hope to be.
The bill gives away it's location, i love these types of restaurants, but michelin or not they are so expensive in the US. Here in Europe a meal at the number one restaurant in the Netherlands (Librije #50 in world ranking, 3 michelin stars) will set you back 260 euro's if you take the most eleberate menu and wine pairing.
I originally worked there as a the Gueridon Chef but when we started doing mucous mornay I was promoted to the Mucoudon Chef and would finish the dish at the table
Pretty much my most want to visit restaurant. I went to the Aviary Bar in NYC which is related and that was brilliant so can only imagine how amazing Alinea is.
Also to the video descriptions is it possible you right the lens and body Matt... Thanks... And to your Matt Granger channel, a video about how you shoot meal video :)
Wrong about 2 stars...maintained 3. Chicago lost Curtis Duffy's Grace but at least we still have Alinea. Next time you are in town, check out Oriole and Acadia (both 2 stars)
that has not been my experience. I'm sorry your time there was not as good. That doesn't make me an idiot, it makes you a hater. Why? I was really just commenting on the stars. Apparently, some others think Acadia doesn't suck.
@meaturama wow...it seems you are really a bitter person. Again, sorry you didn't like Acadia. I'm quite happy with my jobs, thanks...I get to cook beautiful food, make people happy, and make a nice living thanks. Why do you judge and hate?
HaHaHaHaHaHa! You're right, and feel a whole lot more comfortable about it to!.... But that meal looks a great experience. .... must make richer friends.
This is not supposed to only make you full (which in my experience happens when you constantly over 2 hours eat. Its like an experience, like going to the theater. Don't compare this to a steakhouse or regular Italian restaurant.
Depends on the dishes, the amount of courses, and where you sit. All can be bought for more or less. Every time I've been there (6x) I've paid anywhere between $1200 to $1600 for two with the upgraded wine pairing and with tip (and this was back in 2007 thru 2011.
If you want to tey the best seafood , you should come to portugal. Fresh high quality seafood and cooked simple, conserving the flavour of the seafood. Portugal best destination to seafood and fishe. No one cooks it like us
Shutter speed seems lower than what it should be, may be ( probably i am wrong ) But anyway awesome place and dishes again... Now i want to be rich... I'd like to watch next Dumb&Dumber in this restaurant :) If i had a chance to be in there, i'd be no different than how they may look :)
I think having been to Alinea once was enough, I don't crave for a second time like I do with a good sushi bar, or pop eyes fried chicken. I'm not even sure if Chef Achatz works in the kitchen anymore.
Novelty restaurants come off to me as much ado about nothing like a six years old's birthday party ie mostly a dog and pony show for the eternally bored. I also wonder why every dish has to be unique to the point of weirdness but they are all served with that most old school beverage ie wine which you buy in a bottle from someone else and pour in a glass - not much creativity there but lots of profit to be had.
WoW what a food experience. I’ve seen the ladies go to LV & spend thousands on purses. But this is a food experience so it’s quite different. Would I do it no because I’ve had gastric bypass & would get extremely drunk. Also can’t eat all that food. But I love to watch it anyway...
'taste' is an illusion... people who have big bucks always find food of 'high standards' because your mind thinks 'hey its Michelin star hotel and food must be great anyways'!
Grant is a genius. I feel so blessed that his restaurant is only a few states over. I’ll have to go one day in my life time. Massively admire this guy
Thanks for documenting the experience! Alinea is still 3 Michelin stars unless something changes when they announce the 2019 rankings next week.
I've been to Alinea, and I will never forget that meal. I still remember how everything tastes
same here, except it was my birthday party at McDonald's...when I was 6 years old. that was almost 50 years ago.

They haven't taken away a star.
Definitely not
Yes, still three stars
You really need to edit your video. Incorrectly claiming that Alinea has only two Michelin stars is unprofessional. This is a big mistake.
Just checked, Alinea has 3 stars for 2019
Amazing video. As a former cook I can say I really appreciate the work and skill needed to craft the menu and the presentation of the meal. It is just beyond what a regular fine dining restaurant can ever hope to be.
THIS IS INSANE! I never thought that food could be so amazing!
That looked like the most amazing meal I’ve ever seen!
Love the $ 14 on the sign for "valet parking", i had to do a double take as i was convinced it was definately not for the early bird special 🤣
If you enjoyed the experience there, you should to check out a restaurant called Dorsia.
It's quite difficult to get a reservation though...
That chandelier becoming the table was the greatest plot twist of all time

It mostly depends on the wine.
Food standards in us are much better than Europe hence the price difference sorry
this is just wild, more art than food! not sure how I feel about it! but wow it's different...
Everyone in the staff looks like a model. Not the type of kitchen grunts I'm used to working with.
I was there back in February, it is so nice to watch this video and remember most of the dishes. Thanks for the video!
I'm pretty sure I'd be that person who had no idea what the hell I was supposed to eat when the plate arrived.
Alinea has been open since 2005 and has had three Michelin stars for 12 consecutive years
The is the best video on this restaurant . most of us will never eat here .
You need to choose between buying an iPad with pen included or a meal at the restaurant! :)
I'd choose the meal...
what an experience, thanks alot for sharing looked Amazing!
Do you have to eat everything that they served? what about people with food allergies?
Please post more videos! I love watching your extravagant seafood platter videos! 🙂
Where have you been for so long?
Love these reviews, shouldn’t really say it but I prefer them to your photograph ones. Keep up the good work 👍

soooooooooooo Awesome!!!! What an amazing experience!!!!
Where did you get 2 stars?
omg. so expensive. good to see you posting again
It looks like quite the experience.
If I had that kind of money to throw around sure, but I don't. Thanks for showing us what the experience is like.
No one told me what is edible ... chewed the plate and broke my teeth
It is all a matter of tastes in life. Me, I don't care for expensive cars or mansions or jewelry, but I would pay to eat in this type of restaurants.
Do it.
Same
Or, as Nike's overused logo on their shirts says "Just Do It". I would love to just do it myself!@@sanmcnellis94
Me too!!
They still got 3 stars, how did you came by 2?
Came to make the same comment... My husband works for the Alinea Group, they've always had three stars.
@@MalLemmer Yet he goes out of his way to say, "...formerly three."
cuz its a dumb video
Why is there alot of flickering in the video? Is it caused by the indoor lighting?
Nice, you followed through on my $1,000 meal request from when you first made this channel, Thanks!
hahaha, glad you liked it
@@worldsbestseafood4784 Thanks for the real thing experience.

How much people tip in such places?....also wana know doesnt the food gets bit cold once all that fancying is applied on them by chefs?
At this place tipping was optional - and all pre-paid at the time of booking.
Pretty much my most want to visit restaurant. I went to the Aviary Bar in NYC which is related and that was brilliant so can only imagine how amazing Alinea is.
😲‼️OMG‼️ every thing looks so good 😊
Started a new “Saved” list with this one. Super Experiences For My Bucket List. Awesome video❣️.
I go here for lunch everyday, favorite spot in Chicago
I love your content. It's honest and practical. Keep up the good work!

Pretty sure Chef Achatz wants to punch you in the face for taking his star away😂 thanks for the vid tho👌🏼
What wine is this? I can only see the pecorino grape.
How many hours did it last?
Thank you for another great video! Do you think you could still eat a nice seafood tower after this meal? 🐙
Take me to Gino's East and get me a cold beer and I'm happy 😂

@meaturama and BTW, I make $4 an hour
I think I'd prefer $900 and a bag of chips on the sofa.
HaHaHaHaHaHa! You're right, and feel a whole lot more comfortable about it to!.... But that meal looks a great experience.

Agreed.
unfortunately with only $900, you can only have 898$ and a bag of chip on the sofa

Looks amazing, but I don't think I'm the target audience for their business. Fascinating to see nonetheless.
what was the wine pairing?
WARNING> THIS IS NOT A SEAFOOD VIDEO
I see food.
Lmao
What happens if you do not drink?
You save over half.
Kristyanna Virgona Lowfat milk costs $25 a glass. 2% milk costs a little more.
They don’t charge for drinks if you are not into alcohol. (Instead they give you water for free)
.
Kristyanna Virgona you don’t have to pair your meal experience with wine. It’s charged per person. We had a person in our party who did not drink
I give this video 1.5 stars
damn, those flower arrangements at 0:35!
That all looks so very insanely good!! 😍
Caligula would give a thumbs up.
Will definitely save up to go here one day.
I'm going to the Ever Restaurant that opened in 2020 that is also in Chicago in April.
Great vid! Plan on booking this experience soon
Interested in booking April 14th 2019 table for 2?
Karla Bee we booked Salon for May 26th... we wanted Gallery though 😭
wish I could afford to go one day.😊

Damn 900 bucks for food, what in the world do you do for work?
probably a teacher or a cop
Geert Matthys cops get paid way more than I do. $30 hr ain’t bad at all
@@fochiqui Where do you teach? In Chicago, teachers get compensated very well.
Hi .. I'm new to this subject.. is this 900 USD per person or for the whole group..

Very interesting. Thanks for posting.
Looks fun, but man if I had $900 to spend on something it would probably be a vacation or something lol
Nothing against your video but I honestly do not think id enjoy this type of dinning personally. But great filming all the same keep the vids coming!
You've got some good mates Matt!
4:58 I don't really want to have to see anything like that again

Yes I have been a few times. I love it in Portugal!
this is my favorite channel
This wasn't seafood but I didn't mind since I like your style of food reviews! Thanks for the wonderful review and footage!
It looked like a fun experience and the food looked great but I can't get myself to spend 1k
They better get me a small motorcycle for that price.

sitting here eating a red baron and watching this.
Even in your caption you spelled the restaurant name wrong. Wow correction number 2 it's called "Alinea"
I think having been to Alinea once was enough, I don't crave for a second time like I do with a good sushi bar, or pop eyes fried chicken. I'm not even sure if Chef Achatz works in the kitchen anymore.
He does. He’s there all the time.
Just did a research paper and can confirm as of ending of last year he spends most of his time in the kitchen if hes not traveling with his son
Wow your logo looks so much like the UChicago logo
Yes it does!
Alinea has 3 stars Michelin
Haute cuisine meets Andy Warhol. Well done.
Alina has three Michelin stars since opened not two.
great video!!
I need to experience this!
900 $?
Ma va là
$900?
But it goes there
Y'know, if I were the Clemson Tigers, I'd take the offer to eat there.
The food looks like they came out of a lab
The Fat Duck lab. Heston inspired.
See that chandelier... it's your dessert. Here's your bill... it's made of taffy. The front door is chocolate.
there must be a restaurant where you can eat people...
Hold on, since when did they have only 2 stars?
Never. He misspoke.
Just got an xf 16 1.4 Yesterday for $850. I think I got the better deal
🤣🤣👍🏼
