    The Man From Nowhere is fluid and smooth. It feels like a secret agent killing quickly and efficiently. Rocky Handsome feels like a Terminator fight. It is a big guy playing with sharp toys.

      Yes.
      *TMFN shows emotions, fatigue, and/or desperation on the people's faces. Both of good guy's and bad guys'.*
      Every hit from TMFN is vital, in the organs, or in arteries. The good guy was getting swarmed by a bunch of bad guys but he kept using one of them as a meatshield to make them hesitate. It's not about just the good guy's acting, but the bad guys who are gangsters who never trained in the military like the good guy, you can see from their movements that they are very scared of the good guy and when they lash out with their knives, they swear profanity and swing large strokes which all feel desperate and sloppy, reciprocating the suspension of disbelief that the good guy is scary. That's why this feels more realistic. When sometimes there was too much violence they smartly cut out and had blood splatters off screen.
      *Rocky is like a terminator, he doesn't show emotions.* He is a beautiful statue. Maybe Abraham is better for movies that play to this strength. I know Arnold would have been a terrible choice for movies like, Shawshank Redemption. They are just not his style. Maybe this movie should have gotten someone else instead of Abaraham.
      In RH, where is all the blood? Even when they did show you the ppl getting shot and stabbed on screen, all they leave is a little hole and no blood splatters. Did you see that bad guy with a hammer holding a sledgehammer with an unrealistically large head? When he let it go he was holding it with one hand and still holding it upright. If you ever held a sledgehammer in real life you know how stubborn the heavy head is, you can never hold it like that. As it fell on the floor it clattered like a light piece of wood. :P
      I do like how the final fight was more evenly matched though, and Rocky got more wounds. But maybe too much. He should not be able to shrug off a wound to the heart at the end.

      You want realistic action then watch a war documentary. Nobody not even the most highly trained commando can kill 10-20 guys with guns in an open fight with knifes. The base of the action scene itself is unrealistic.

    To address one thing, the reason why he didn't get injured in the last knife fight (MFN) is because of the fact that it was meant to be far more realistic and therefore any serious injury would mean almost certain death while in Rocky Handsome it was meant to be over-the-top and the main characters could sustain far more
    I prefer realistic fight from man from nowhere

    • @johnow7
      @johnow7 6 лет назад +8

      Seriously. Casually walking away from a knife fight with two chest wounds is not realistic. Pulling a knife out of your chest with your teeth and then, with it still in your teeth, using it to slit the throat of a guy who is holding a knife in your chest is not realistic. None of that silly shyte happened in MFNW which makes it more realistic with just that.

    The Man From Nowhere is much better, more stylish and the choreography is superior. In Rocky Handsome there are too many unnecessary moves, plus, while in the Korean movie we have few one shot segments, here every scene and movement is cut into so many pieces that it displeases the eye and gives the impression that the fight is not real.

Maybe because the plot was already too familiar I don't know. About this particular fight scene, in RH it is over exaggerated. They aimed to make it more brutal, but there are so many cuts, that it is just not believable. To me, that means mediocre fight choreography and camera work.

    I'm going to have to agree to disagree. Indian version may have more eye candy, but fight looked more like dancing and unrealistic. Korean version had better realism in tactics. It had no huge moves and super kicks nor posing between fights to look cool but every slash and stab was efficient. Korean actor's moves isolated other combatants to create 1vs1 by getting bad guys in the way to prevent them from overpowering him with numbers. Did I enjoy both? Yes. Indian version made me seat back and relax laughing with brutal violence, but Korean version had me on the edge of the seat with thrilling excitement. Personally, I would take Korean version since posing between fights and unrealistic fantasy like fight/dancing scenes are so 90s.

    This is like comparing a Tarantino movie with a Marvel movie. The Korean version is the original from 2010 and it is IMO much better. It influenced many other similar movies such as "John Wick" and "Equalizer". The scene where Won Bin gets suited up all in black filmed from the back was replicated in "John Wick" frame by frame. Hollywood always steals from Asia, nothing new. Also, it is hilarious that one of the two dudes has an Indian accent saying how the Indian version is much better. lmao, I find the lack of knowledge and research a bit annoying, and I'm not even Korean. Won Bin is a very respected actor, who played in different types of movies such as "Mother", where he played a boy with a mental disorder, directed by Bong Joon-Ho, the director of "Parasyte", "Memories of a Murder" and many other great movies. I had absolutely no idea till this very moment who John Abraham is but he seems like an Indian version of The Rock. If you want to see a really good movie with great music watch "The man from nowhere". If you are on a high-protein diet watch "Rocky Handsome". lol

      I agree, but they did give it a good effort with the remake. I can't say it was great, but it wasn't a piece of junk that I thought it would be, a decent remake. So, yes Man from nowhere was better, but Rocky Handsome (dumb title) was pretty darn good.

    Hi, Im Korean. in my opinion, both have good and weakness points so u guys dont need agressive debate.
    In Korea, more than 90% male go to milliary service for more than 2 years, cuz we are fight vs North Korea. this situation is just stopping not finished. So if ballywood style like RH, we know that act is not specialist move. if u guys wanna to kill somebody you dont need to big weapon and body. many of special force milliary services crew dont much have big guys especally, top class agencts.
    but many of Indian or other contries people dont have that information. so RH can feel much friendly and ez to understand better.
    So i think that differences are cultural differences. and you guys have to think the main actor's job is not 'Rambo'. He is secret agency. that is main point of that act, realistic and why the actor's body is normal size.

      The differences are not cultural. The thing is Indians when they go to watch movie they like pumped up and brutal shit. We believe that Films are a fantasy of ours. So our films the Actor is gonna do things that no man can coz those are our fantasies. Of course we know that it is less realistic but it gives us that special adrenaline rush.
      We also know about Military. We are always at conflict with Pakistan and China. Just that Films are a way for us to go into the world of fantasy. They are our gateways to fantasies. Both Korean and Indian versions are good I believe.

    The Man From No Where is definitely better, considering the main actors emotions and ofc the action scene. I was really upset about you guys watching it dubbed tho. Took so much from the experience. Also the blood actually wasn't overlydone. He was cutting their weins and organs not just cutting/ He knew where to it exactly. Plus he did get injured about 3-4 times.
    I also found it so funny how in Rocky the enemies were showing up one by one. So unrealistic.😂😂😂 Actually the Bollywood version did not have better knife sequence. It was not technical but instead impactful (strength based no real technique but flashy) which again is not realistic but action acting. I mean they could have killed the main guy if it wasn't one by one 😂

    In the last fight scene, I asked him the same question. Yes, it sqirts if you go after the arteries. The main character only cut the arteries of all the bad guys bc one it is deadly and second, you cannot recover unless you are in operation table within 10 mins. It is a painful way to die but very effective and efficient. The Korean guy knew exactly where to slash with his knife whereas in RH, he didn’t just go for the arteries like the Korean movie. The rocky handsome one was very choreographed but the weakness was that you could see that the actors went slow so the entire sequence would not screw up. If they increased the tempo, it would look more "realistic".
    In terms of the two, Man from Nowhere shows WOn Bin getting hit (1 slice and 1 bat to the leg) which brings into focus why he kept moving and forcing everyone to chase him. His attacks were also straight and to the point other than the guy he sliced on the wrist, which was an intimidation move.
    Rocky handsome's issue was that the multiple stabs were of no real use because the final move was the one which was the fatal one.
    In terms of pure brutality, Man from Nowhere wins because the fight doesn't try to extend itself and Won Bin's character is out to kill efficiently. The fight is short, to the point and the actors act much like what you would expect (the wild swings by the last guy alive before the one on one was good).
    In terms of looking badass. Rocky Handome wins but Hollywood already has plenty of badass fights and posing, eg the Die Hard series

Like it when the main character can catch almost every punch from the bad guy before attacking him back. Its like the whole purpose of the bad guy was to let the hero catch or block his attack and get own in return. Its just like old school comic book fights. The only thing I don't like is the singing part. Its like there gotta be singing in every movie. In America, we call those musical. There is singing in war movie, love movie, crime movie, horror movie, and etc. I love it when the hero just got done killing bad guys and you feel pump up only sec later to see him singing and dancing. We're seeing some quite split opinions on this. Although the setting feels a bit different, atmosphere different, the actors are different, to my eyes at least, the Korean version delivers better emotional depth on that scene. I don't know about the overall movie, but if we were to critique on this scene only, I think The Man from Nowhere was directed better, the actor delivered better sentiments on this scene which is absolutely necessary in this movie as this is part of the climax leading into the end of the movie. I think this shares the same genre in the action film category with the Bourne series just action-wise. Scenario-wise, it would be closer to the Taken series. What I'm trying to say is that although the film primarily provides pleasure through its action scenes, it provided much more than just visual pleasure because of its scenario well directed throughout the movie as well as the depth of emotions the main character was able to play.

    Myself personally, Man from nowhere hands down! Reason being is that that the fight sequence kept moving and was fluid. Rocky Handsome, when one person would attack, he'd block their strike and just stand there for him to jab them with his knife as if it was too convenient for him. Even when they were shooting at him, he walked casually to take cover rather than the Man from Nowhere where he still kept a tactical approach to taking cover.

    For people who prefer RH, more is more. RH has a bigger hero, the movements are bigger, there are more bad guys, each bad guy gets stabbed more times, and the fight lasts longer. For people who like MFN, less is more. Won Bin is smaller, he moves faster, his movements are efficient and economized, and he kills the baddies with only a couple of stabs each. It's not surprising that Bollywood audiences who grew up on 3+ hour long movies with song and dance numbers like RH for being over-the-top. Meanwhile, western and asian action flicks are undergoing a transformation from the explosions and bullet-fests of Die Hard and John Woo, to tight fight choreography and proper gun discipline (e.g. compare the James Bond of Daniel Craig to that of Pierce Brosnan). So it's also not surprising that western and asian audiences tend to favor MFN. In the end, your preferences are largely based on the aesthetics that you are used to.

    I like both, the Bollywood style and Korean cinema style are different, some people like one more than the other. "The Man From Nowhere" (the original) is fluid and smooth, Wu Bin is not only a great actor but also a legit Martial artist. In "Rocky Handsome" (the remake), John Abraham is a great action actor, fit and big but not a Martial artist, so the scenes have more cuts and choreography is gory to make up for the fact he's not as quick and natural in the moves as Wu Bin. In "The Man from Nowhere" it is a former Special Ops killing quickly and efficiently. "Rocky Handsome" feels like a Terminator fight: a big guy playing with sharp weapons.

    The director of the Korean version, 아저씨(The Man from Nowhere), used to be an amateur Taekwondo player, but there is no kicks in the film because the director persued a REALISTIC movie.
    Even one of the martial arts in the scene, Krav Maga, is one of the killing skills officially adopted by South Korean special forces tier 1(HID, UDU, AISU) and tier 2(SWC, UDT, CCT).

RH action scenes are joke when dudes are simply being shot, stabbed, and kicked, there is no pain in any of the scenes aaaaaaand to say the remake is better cuz it's slower are these guys even aware of the fact that the man is a former special force soldier?

    rocky handsome is more fantastic but not realistic. Just it like show. They acted big too much unnecessary and played each other. • @Xentradi97
      @Xentradi97 7 лет назад +14

      Go ask special force person who done knife fighting. This scene there is by far one of the most realistic knife fighting portrayed in the movies. And the flow is much more natural whereas in Rocky Handsome you can see hits not connecting and Abraham counting the steps. If you can't see that, something wrong with your sensibility and you've been watching way too many exaggerated fights to not see the diff.. Outside Bollywood, that sequence in Rocky Handsome isn't special at all. Yes, the blood flow may be exageration but not the fight sequences.

    • @GauravSingh-gx7no
      @GauravSingh-gx7no 7 лет назад +6

      Xentradi97 u must be stupid to not realise that the attitude and way of fighting of both the actors were different,in Korean version the actors was mostly slashing his enemies with a few stabbing too just to give them a painful death while in RH John was mostly stabbing and his acting looked wooden cause that's what he was supposed to do i.e. act emotionless and that counting thing is plain stupid point which u got from that dickhead's comment who thinks he is either a flash or some stunt expert and by d way many stunt expert have seen this sequence and thought of it as genuine

      ****From my opinion, this movie scene is far better than the original one 'A Man From Nowhere'.****
      ****I'm not a big fan of Indian movies, I'm actually a fan of 'Hollywood' movies and Asian (especially Chinese) movies. But this movie is exceptional. Because, people say certain Indian movies are made near equal/above/below Hollywood, but this one certainly and appreciably equaled Hollywood and the makers of this should be definitely proud where they should be awarded (including Oscar and others) for their 💯% proper research and hardwork for this movie! (A special note: Blood don't splash at the instance in these kind of fast and very technical cuts on the human body. This fight scene is at the most practical.
