I remember watching John Wick and thinking about this movie and later found out the directors were actually inspired by it. It's surprisingly unpopular in the West, it's an incredible action blockbuster.
The Korean/Bollywood difference? Bollywood: Ya boy said it best, "playing connect the dots" with the knife. A lot of frivolous movement and cuts/stabs that were destructive but non-lethal. It was certainly fun and I wouldn't take anything from their efforts, they did good. Korean: Every slicing stroke of the knife will create arterial hemorrhage whether the wrist, inner-elbow, neck, underarm, or behind the knees... Every stab is either center mass where vital organs are in the chest, or in the neck windpipe/carotid artery. Every wound he inflicts with the knife is maximally efficient and with high percentage of lethality. He also follows the momentum of his knife stroke in transition to the next parry/counter/attack. His tactics are impeccable... He used their bodies as his shield and worked the space/distance to isolate ea. attacker into 1v1's he could end quickly rather than a 1v20. As far as movies and martial arts this was knife fighting for true fans. Not to mention the Mob Boss was was perfect for the role. Loved to hate that guy. Peace.
They both look good but for the kind of story, the original korean is way better. Its also way better filmed, way better directed, edited and the music fits so much much better. The movie overall is like a 9/10, the bollywood one is like a dumb popcorn movie for fun thats a 6/10 at best. The bollywood one just...looks dumb. Fun for the brutality but its dumb. The big guy just stands still as people run towards him to get stabbed. The dude just stands upright and moves only his arms. Its like he has godmode and slow mo on, like a matrix fight when they just move their arms. The fight, they are both fun but Korean og wins for me. The movie? No fkn competition. seriously, its like comparing old boy vs american oldboy. Old boy is a 10/10 masterpiece,Hollywood oldboy is a 6.5/10 maybe.
What the guy was saying before he started shooting was, "How many cavities do you have? I run a pawn shop, so I take gold teeth. I'll keep the teeth, and chew up everything else!"
There is another one called battle royale which is just as brutal as ichi the killer, it's about these high-school students put to sleep by a gas on a bus and they woke on a island where they are forced to battle each other to the death by a sadistic guy and his men. He also placed collars on their necks that will explode if they break a rule

In March 2012, Dimension Films acquired the rights to do an English-language remake of The Man From Nowhere; plans are to have Shawn Christensen, who wrote and directed the 2012 short film Curfew and the director of the John Wick will direct.
i dont blame bollywood fans for liking the remake better. its your movie. from your country. pride. i get it. i like the original. it was darker and the action scenes were more realistic. both movies had very stylized and choreographed fights but i preferred the gory and grittier fights of the original. the best example i can give is the original used a combat hapkido instructor for special forces fighting instruction and filipino kali knife fighting instructors as consultants. techniques that would be used in real combat situations but very polished for cinematic effect. the bollywood version had great action but it was over the top. as if they didnt consult with an actual fighter but let their creative teams who have never been in an actual fight, create comic book level fight scenes. again, nothing wrong with it. visually, it was great but just not realistic. so to each their own on which version you liked better. none of the movies were trash. lets agree on that. great reaction guys! i subscribed and am a fan.
That yellow nail polish shot itself explains why this is better than Rocky Handsome. The overall tension, music, the chaos of a group lynching a guy are all well captured in the original. And the last sequence with no music and just sound of cutting flesh and blood rushing out, bones cracking and punches hitting hard on their body is something magnificent.
7:54 that is the look of Madness. The look of when has lost everything. A look of digging as deep as you can Within, a look powerful emotional focuse and evolution.
Before THE RAID, was the 2003 Friedkin film THE HUNTED ( Benicia Del Toro) which introduced close quarter knife fights from SE Asia to the screen. After that, these other films built on top of that. Even using moves from the HUNTED like the way knife was thrust using both hands here.
If y'all wondering what his motivation was to go and fight those gangsters, for most of the movie he was trying to rescue a mom and her daughter (the daughter being his only friend irl). Now the mom got killed and he was arrested for her murder but he escaped, and when he found these assholes they told him that the eyeballs belonged to the little girl hence why he snapped.
You know this one is so much better than the Bollywood version. For one thing this one actually have blood, a lot more blood. Which is funny considering the guy in Bollywood stabs those guy a bunch of times and nothing happened. Here the guy only need to slash once or twice and blood already gushes out like a river, which is how it should be. Besides this guy is way more badass considering that the fight is so much shorter and he barely got hit while in the Bollywood version the guy took forever to kill them and got hit a bunch of times. Sure it’s less flashier here but when you can kill a bunch of guys in such a short span of time, why bother?
In fights people get hit. This guy was acting like Bruce Lee and not getting hit at all. Both were unrealistic, but this one had terrible shaky camerawork
This is one of the many reasons I love y'all, you actually posted a reaction to the original version (which Rocky Handsome is based on). You may also like The Best of Yuri Boyka (Scott Adkins), those fight clips are brutal and well choreographed.

Hi, I am Korean. That movie is very famous in Korea. I'm a fan of the main character in that movie. His name is Won Bin. He's number one handsome guy in Korea.
Nah man rocky is a joke. This movie is still on netflix i highly recommend u to go watch this first to get the complete story. This movie is a drama thriller first than it is action. This fight scene came out of nowhere in the film. This scene has a bigger impact with the feels. Thts why rocky is just a mindless action movie first. At least check out No Tears for the Dead its also on netflix. Same korean director.
You *need* to watch The Man From Nowhere . . . it is seriously one of the best revenge actioners you'll ever see. Right up there with Leon or John Wick. Also, while you're on Korean films, check out The Divine Move, Confidential Assignment and Veteran. You won't be disappointed.
In the beginning of the fight, he said something like: "Do you have any gold teeth?" Other dude says "What!?" He continues: "I run a pawn shop, and I accept gold teeth. I will take your gold teeth... and chew up everything else" Then starts shooting.
M-Dogg, that curved knife is a karambit. They’re from the Philippines. Usually they’re dual-edged and often used by police and civilians for self defense. The curved side is nasty, but the sharpened back edge is just mean.
The Man From Nowhere is an amazing movie... It might be still on Netflix. Watch Koreans movies on Netflix, it will blow your mind at their action sequences...
I don't remember what he says in the Korean/Sub when he is talking with the guy in grey but its along the lines of "Do you have gold teeth, I own a pawn shop, I'll sell the teeth and devour the rest." In the English dub they replace devour with grind. I think it sounds brutal saying I'll practically eat you. Filled with so much rage.
The directing of The Man from Nowhere and how they edited the scenes added more tension in each scene. I feel like the Bollywood fight scene was pretty badass too but it wasn't realistic and he was like superman. It didn't seem like he actually got hurt.
What's good about these movies though ( THIS ONE , THE RAID & THE RAID 2 ) is that they all have a story behind them . It's not just some ass kickin and that's the end of it .
The eyes belonged to a child, a little girl. The film is action packed and very emotional. I really recommend watching it. It might still be on Netflix.
Precisely! Man from nowhere is realistic. Most realistic knife fight scene I've seen in a movie. Bollywood version is fake looking, slow and choreographed.
I know this video is like 3 years old but I feel what makes the movie so good is the character development. Like looking at an amazing fighting scenes will make me so excited, but knowing how close he was with that girl, her innocence and how she even painted his nails. This fight scene came out of nowhere in the film. This scene has a bigger impact with the feels. Thts why rocky is just a mindless action movie first. At least check out No Tears for the Dead its also on netflix. Same korean director.
The Korean mafia guys were black market organ harvesters and the eyes in the jar belonged to the little girl. Amazing film though.
Neil Golden not the girl's but that homicide doctor's eyes.
Yeah but the guy knew like that the eyes in the jar were little girl's
Lol love the translation. "That's yo ass............. Bitch'
리액션 할줄을 아시는분♡ 영화 전체를 전부 본건아니지만 , 적어도 맥락을 알고서 리액션 해주는 모습이 뿌듯함!
nice raaction
Guy in the middle... you are IN the movie at the end. Much props.
John wick and the man from nowhere great tactical movies
"Stab stab stab, break dance, spin, slice slice..." LOL
You *need* to watch The Man From Nowhere . . . it is seriously one of the best revenge actioners you'll ever see. Right up there with Leon or John Wick. Also, while you're on Korean films, check out The Divine Move, Confidential Assignment and Veteran. You won't be disappointed.
In the beginning of the fight, he said something like:
"Do you have any gold teeth?"
Other dude says "What!?" He continues:
"I run a pawn shop, and I accept gold teeth. I will take your gold teeth... and chew up everything else"
Then starts shooting.
Why are they covering their face and why is she not speaking 🤔
M-Dogg, that curved knife is a karambit. They’re from the Philippines. Usually they’re dual-edged and often used by police and civilians for self defense. The curved side is nasty, but the sharpened back edge is just mean.
Bollywood version was over top n stylised. This version is realistic. Both versions were brutal.
Nah mate this one is so much more brutal and bloody. The other one barely have any blood.
And the south Koreans have really good actors
See how both show concern when the middle guy unconsciously shows his mean streak in him
Hell yeah! The Man From Nowhere is amazing!
the knife fight style is that of silat usually used with a karambit but any fixed blade knife with a reverse grips will do
The Man From Nowhere is an amazing movie... It might be still on Netflix. Watch Koreans movies on Netflix, it will blow your mind at their action sequences...
I don't remember what he says in the Korean/Sub when he is talking with the guy in grey but its along the lines of "Do you have gold teeth, I own a pawn shop, I'll sell the teeth and devour the rest."
In the English dub they replace devour with grind. I think it sounds brutal saying I'll practically eat you. Filled with so much rage.
check out the raid redemption hallway fight scenes real. they are fucking bomb
Garrett Rupska Or just any fight from either of the raid movies really. They are all amazing.
They saw both movies.
TitanGT66 shit I didn't know my bad
The directing of The Man from Nowhere and how they edited the scenes added more tension in each scene. I feel like the Bollywood fight scene was pretty badass too but it wasn't realistic and he was like superman. It didn't seem like he actually got hurt.
y'all need to check out raid 2 knife fight
Nadia/Sam Kaminskaya/Marotta one of the best fight scenes to date
What's good about these movies though ( THIS ONE , THE RAID & THE RAID 2 ) is that they all have a story behind them . It's not just some ass kickin and that's the end of it .
I like the Korean film better but in the final fight scene I like rocky handsome more cause it’s so badass.
The eyes belonged to a child, a little girl. The film is action packed and very emotional. I really recommend watching it. It might still be on Netflix.
I saw this movie! it's on Netflix! You guys should definitely watch it! Great movie 👌
This is the best knife fighting scene I have ever seen for real!
Please watch the Old Boy fight scene
In case you didn't see it check out Fable: The Killer Who Doesn't Kill
(Not to mention the last guy we have love-hate relationship towards 😩) The DETAILS got me furious watching this scene, it’s been YEARS but this movie is still by far my fav one of all time
Arguably the best fight scene ever. The knife fighting is super realistic and really well choreographed. Watched two eastern martial arts experts break down the fight.
2 : 03 i hear nothing ~ coz nobody's talking...
Hahahaha..! 😂 😂 😂
Don't forget to check out the South Korean joint THE CHASER MDogg. It's on the level of Se7en as a thriller. In the stream I told you and you said you'd check it. Trust me, you'll love.
Glad to see you checking these South Korean joints. They are gold. If you want more let me know. I know a ton!
Tony Waweru yo man, I'm Korean and movie The Chaser Is Really One Of The Best Korean Movie Masterpiece. It's Not Just I'm Korean. The Chaser Is Really Good
Word up, Jay. I'm a HUGE Korean film fan. THE CHASER is my fave Korean thriller all time, and THE WAILING (2016) is my fave Korean horror all time. The Wailing is a fucking masterpiece. And its the same director and The Chaser. The Wailing is on Netflix right now, came out last year, best shot Korean film ever.
Tony Waweru XD Well Then, I Recommend This Movie Too. It's Called 'Yellow Sea' It Was Directed By Same Director Of 'The Chaser','The Wailing'
Tony Waweru the chaser is my favourite Korean movie, that movie is perfect in its form
Also check out City of Violence, awesome movie.
Watch the hallway fight scene in "Oldboy" (the 2003 Korean version)!!
