I loooved this video! You’re so interesting to listen to. My favorite bit so far was your explanation of your blacks. I was running back to google looking up what “lightfast” was and “tiny strength”! So informational
Glad to see Turner paints getting some love! Everybody always talks about Holbein acryla gouache and regular gouache while Turner flies under the radar. But Turner's paint consistency is my favorite!
I am purchasing every set through your channel right now!! That clairefontaine aquapad looks like it works well with them acryl gouache! I always heard about Turner but never tried them so I'm pretty excited to do so now! Sweet painting also!! I love your process I will definitely be a supporter of yours from now on!!
Welcome! Thank you so much for your kind words! I love Turner's acryl gouache and designer gouache, overall a really great brand! The clairefontaine aquapad is perfect for gouache and acryl gouache as well, I love how much paper you get for the price! 😄
norakag here.. i loved this video so much!! I've been playing with the turner acryl gouache, and am really loving them!!! I love the bassett hound piece sooo much!!! you made the right decision to tone down all the intense color 😬😬🐶🐶🐶.. i think it works so much better with just a few pops of bright color .. loved watching !! thank you , Emily! ..Norakag 👍💜
Love your pieces! I was stoked you did a comparison of the blacks... I was thinking it would be great to see them side by side. I really look forward to your videos, thank you Emily
yaaay! I'm having a bad weekend and watching your videos always helps :'D the colors are so prettyyyy I want to eat them lol beryl green and lilac, excuse meee??? simply gorgeous! also I said this once and I say it again: your skills to build the layers and colors will never cease to amaze me. Beautiful pet portraits! the cat one was my favorite, I'll definetely use that technique of pushing the background behind the main point with a light wash, looks super cool!
Aw I'm really glad this video came at the right time!! I'm sorry your weekend hasn't been going the best ❤️ I was so excited about the colors in these sets!! That Beryl green was one of my faves too! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words as always ✨
I first of all love your art! I want to express my idea about these 2 paintings. Love the black cat but if I can find a detail is mouth, I think it would look better with a little pinky mouth o tongue. The dog is really cute and i like the green but I would left a little bit more pink. Huge congrants for your shop!
Your work is always great; your style and everything. Both paintings are lovely, but I'm especially keen on the cat one. :) My sister and I have a black cat.
First of all that building is so amazing looking. I would love to see an art store around my area with that creative of a building. I like both paintings but I liked the first version of the basset hound. The second was good but the area behind the hound sort of was messing with my eye.
Oh my Gosh! So beautiful! And if I want to buy them...I will not regret it? Because I buy a set of Marie's gouche, I'm new in this media! But, I have struggling to work with them, they are thick and they're not creamier. 😭 they're translucent, and dried very fast on the pallet. I'm very frustrated right now!
Hi Giulia! Most Turner Acryl Gouache colours are totally light fast with the exception of their decorative ranges and fluorescent ranges. Because of the small amounts of binder, there is little colour shift after painting and the brilliance continues through the drying process. :)
Hi Emily… I never really understood acrylic gouache… isn’t it basically just acrylic paint? What do you think is the biggest difference between that and regular acrylic paint?? Especially because you have to use the slow dry additive just like you do with acrylic… Cute paintings I am trying to do more animals myself instead of people :-)
Long response, but hope this helps! The main difference is that regular acrylic paint has a shiny, plastic-like finish when it dries down, while acryla gouache dries down matte. Another difference is that since acryla gouache is like a combination of watercolor gouache and acrylic paint, it's more water friendly, and you can thin out the paint with just water, no special thinners necessary. While some people use water to thin down acrylics, it's typically not recommended, because water can destroy the paint consistency and make the acrylics brittle when it dries down, whereas thinners can thin them safely without destroying the chemical bonds in the paint.
Whatever you paint looks gorgeous, which is exactly what to be expected from a professional educated artist. In the title you asked the best gouache paint? Honestly, acrylic gouache technically is not gouache at all: it is acrylic; that's why your acrilic retarder worked with this paint: the binder is a (plastic) polymer, and not the edible gum arabic used in real gouache. So, your question should be more like "The Best acrylic?!" 😃 Another Canadian art shop The Paint Shop ruclips.net/video/RWCMMjC7IOA/видео.html demonstrated a fantastic video about a St Petersburgh product: Master Class Tempera, fantastic quality material, which has PVA as a binder. And that was enough reason that they did't call it gouache. Anyhow, your videos are fantastic and a joy to watch.
I love both paintings, but I just love the atmosphere of the background in the cat painting more ❤
They both look so gorgeous! But I love the feeling that the dog gives 🥰
Thank you! 💖

Lovely paintings. 🤍🤍✨
Thank you 💕
I love your shape language coz it looks so structured but it's still loose somehow. The portraits look so good! 🤩
5:22 Derwent Signature watercolor pencil, a real relic. 8:35 The nice watercolor pencil line work disappeared immediately with the background wash 😃
Your work is always great; your style and everything. Both paintings are lovely, but I'm especially keen on the cat one. :) My sister and I have a black cat.
Such a cute black cat painting
😍
The doggo is adorable, but the cat steals the show with this stare :D
Thank you Chrisia! I think I have to agree with you!! 😂❤️
Your videos get better and better!
Thank you Jaq! 💗

Both so expensive. I love your use of color.❤
Iron oxide black is a warm black, mars black is a cool black 😊
absolutely stunning paintings! I love seeing your art journey here on yt, keep it up!
Thank you so much for following my journey! ❤️❤️
Amazing! 😀
Thanks! 💕💕

what about lightfastness? Is there any indicator on the tubes?

I’d love to try this brand, but they don’t sell here in Brazil. It’s hard to find some brands here and when we find, it’s really expensive.
These came out so amazing!! Do you think I should go with Turner or Holbein? I currently use Himi Jelly Gouache and need an upgrade! Thank you :)
Thank you so much! I find Holbein has a better color pay off/opacity, but Turner is much more affordable and still pretty great. 😊
@@emhuesart Thank you so much! I might try out the Turner then 😊🎨
The art was and still is amazing! However I have a question, what’s the difference between acrylic gouache and acrylic paint?
I love your videos! I’m new to traditional paint and have never tried acrylic gauche, are you adding any sort of medium to it? Straight paint? Water?
Oh i learned something from here. Never knew bout the tape but what kinda tape shall i use?
I use masking tape or green painters tape! Both work great ❤️
@@emhuesart oh thank you for replying! 😄
Why the preference for acrylic gouache instead of regular gouache? (I'm thinking about experimenting gouache)

Do you need to get all those different colors, can't you just mix colors and get more?
Do u learn how to draw urself as a hobby or is it ur major?
I majored in drawing and painting, but I would also spend most of my free time practicing 😊
