it would be really interesting to have a catch up review 6 months down the line to see whether these paints start to crack and if they are still that opaque after re-wetting a lot 😊 I've also never seen a palette like that with an extra row and it looks really cool

OOOOOHHH!!! I can't wait to try these! Shin Han make a watercolor/gouache hybrid called Shin Han Pass and those are beautiful to work with. But these seem much better for the lastfast aspect!

Oooh I didn't know that Shin Han had a hybrid paint as well, I'll have to look into those!! I have a few tubes of Shin han watercolours and I really like them! This set seems to have really high-quality/stable pigments, it'll be interesting to see how they hold up over time! 😊

it's probably worth noting you can buy shinhan pass in singular tubes as well, so if you like it, you could use it as a replacement for when you run out of colours in your mijello set.@@emhuesart

I adore their watercolours, they're not for people who love flow and granulation but i love the fact they rewet with the slightest touch and are very easy to control on the page. And are very vibrant. I would like to get some nicer gouache at some point and these look like a promising option. Disappointing they dont have individual tubes available at the moment tho.

this set looks gorgeous, I'm so tempted to get one for myself! I know there are opaque watercolors that come in pan form from brands such as Pelikan or Lyra, but the one that has yielded the best results for me was from Caran d'Ache, oddly enough. The only complaint i have against it is that the white gouache comes in a tube rather than pan form and it doesn't dry the same way if you try to pan it.

Beam Paints are a sort of watercolour/gouache mix. Some of the paint stones they make are pretty opaque for watercolours which has made it fun to add to my palette. They also have gouache specific paints that are really nice!

I like their idea, and you said even if the liquid become dry, we still can reactived more fast than normal gouache. i think mijelo is one of the okay brand if I am not wrong in my research of wishlist to buy watercolor, because of the lightfast. I hope this new hybrid have a good lightfast too.

I love you’re take on this!
I’ve seen these before, I think from what I heard they are watercolors until you add the white and they function as gouache. They also have more binder or a different binder. I do this with normal watercolors anyway and it work really well with any brand.

Hi Emily, your review about the Mijello hybrid gouache is the best so far. They are a new gouache out in the market so not very many have them or have use them. I love all the things you have said about them so far which now I want to buy these paints, you should ask Mijello for a coupon code for the viewer's. I love your comparison to oil paint, since I am an oil painter but I do watercolor for fun expressive and acrylic for studies and more of experiments.

Such a beautiful painting!! I loved hearing your review and watching your process as always ✨ I have a question, does the paint lift easily once in the paper? I have a bit of trouble with that with some gouache paints.
Also wanted to say I'm always in awe at your portraits and I learn so much whenever I watch your videos, I'm more used to working with transparency and watercolors and watching your opaque technique is SO useful 💖

@@ivyclough8969 they are super pigmented, they rewet easily, they are lightfast which most gouache is not, they have beautiful flow if you want to use them on the runny end of things, they come from a very respectable brand and the price per tube when bought in the set is super reasonable compared to many other gouache brands. You can add white or black to adjust colors. You can buy a huge tube of the white class white and use it with these and it’s really inexpensive. They colors mix absolutely perfectly
