Thank you so much for explaining the benefits of glazing multiple layers versus a more saturated application of color done all at one time. I have been struggling with a sunflower painting. Doing the shadowing has become a nightmare. I am experiencing all of the downsides that you describe from erroneous color placement to colors mixing in unpredictable ways to color running into areas I wish to keep lighter. I think I will start over and use the glazing technique and see if it has a better outcome for me and I can be less frustrated and enjoy my painting process more and ultimately create a beautiful piece of art I can be proud of. A large yellow flower is already a challenge to bring it to life, but the approach I have been using just isn't getting me the look I wanted. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I am happy this example was helpful 💜 every time I make a video I am trying to think of things that made the biggest difference in my practice and layering is definitely one of those things 🩷 for sunflowers: try mixing a bit of violet into yellow shadows in layer 2. it’s complimentary and works so well! I think I showed it on a daffodil tutorial 💛

Thank you, Anna for yet another amazing video! You have a very distinct style of painting that makes your work stand out among other professional artists and I was trying to discern what it was that made your painting so recognizable to me. Two things stood out to me:
    1. Your color palette - you frequently use complementary colors & greens aren't generally natural looking
    2. Contrast - your darkest colors are generally not that dark and are used sparingly; painting is predominantly mid-tones
I may be wrong, but I think most artists strive for their work to be recognizable amongst the sea of artwork out there, but very little is said about this topic as in...how does one develop their unique style. Are there any insights you can offer as to how you developed yours or would you even consider my observances to be part of your style that is deliberate in any way? I'd be interested in what experience and advice you have regarding this topic. Thank you!

Hello Anna, I truly have no words to describe how I feel about this entire presentation. I do know, from having watched you for a long time, that God has greatly favored you. I am aware of that when I hear you say that you are “not a color expert”. I agree that the painting would not be the same if not layered, when I started watching this, my mind immediately went to the yellow bird among lemons, which I have watched several times. I think adding an additional tier to your patron is a great idea. ♥️

I did love your first bird with lemons also. I was thrilled by the Beautiful color scheme, great composition. This Blue bird painting has some of the same; enthralling colors, the bird richly painted & gorgeous layers of color on the pomegranates.
it might benefit with an element to pull it all together- either a background color or more of the pomegranates behind the bluebird with a little more unfocused to them. Just a thought.
