    Well, it has given me good vibes. I think Nadal is better than he claims. The environment and players who have practiced with him have said so. He's been out of competition for over a year. He nearly lost to a top 10 player who's having a good season and managed a very good first set against him. In the second set's break, I think he let himself go and perhaps didn't want to push too hard. He'll gradually regain form. If he has trouble serving, his confidence might be a bit shaken. Losing in the second round, after over a year without competing and against De Minaur, is within the realm of normalcy.

    • @sergiudog2211
      @sergiudog2211 Месяц назад

      Agree with one exception: he didn't "nearly" lost at all, he didn't have any chance actually.
      He was kinda competitive for first set, that's all, sadly.
      Hope he gets better before RG.

      Tsitsipas won titles and made finals and semifinals even on hc.Australian open, Atp finals, Toronto, Cincinnati, Rotterdam, Acapulco, Beijing, etc. He can be very good on other surfaces too.
      He was struggling with back injury some weeks ago so i think that's why he wasn't confident enough lately. I think he still need more matches to get his level back

    • @limjieming8403
      @limjieming8403 Месяц назад

      @@bre7342 injury, no injury its the same for all players.
      Its evident from their playing style. They both prefer having more time to set up for their strokes.
      Esp Tsitsipas on his backhand, with more time, it comes alive. On other surfaces, its a liability sometimes. He likes to go for winners & lines but when rushed, unforced errors goes exponentially upwards. On clay he’s able to do what he wants n keep UFE down hence he play his best on clay n is ultra aggressive than normal. Since u like stats, go look at Tsitsipas’s UFE on clay vs other surfaces
      Ruud on the other hand, performs very tentative & hesitant on other surfaces, everyone knows this. Having only 1 hc title vs 9 other on clay and 0 on grass basically emphasized the point
      But both of them on clay, have been blasting winners left & right while been early in the clay season. That speaks confidence n preference

    De Minaur played the perfect tactics for this match, forcing Nadal into long rallies where his lack of recent match experience produced lots of unforced errors. I'm sure this was deliberate, as he knows Nadal needs to finish points quickly these days until he regains his match form (if he can). Though Nadal's physical fitness is a question, it's his mental fitness I most wonder about. You could see him lose the spirit to keep fighting somewhere in the middle of the match, which the younger Nadal never did.

Sad but Father Time comes for us all, even one of the most determined human beings to ever live. I’m Aussie and will never forget what Rafa did to Meds here at the AO, but I don’t see Rafa winning another title, let alone a Slam.

      Demon is a top ten player and Rafa is old. It’s that simple. Rafa’s play style is extremely physical EVERY point, (much like Alex’s) and that’s why we all love and respect him as one of the all time greats, but RG this year will be his retirement party I think, after he bombs out in the early rounds. If Rafa makes it to the second week it would, frankly, be a miracle, but I think Rafa is all out of those after winning the AO against Meds a few years back. Time to hang up his racquet, raise his kids and relax and eat Mum’s Paella every day! :).
