That Fletcher was an absolute legend with his Smoke Screens
Yeah! What a good lad.
im 100% certain the first one was a happy accident with his panic smoke from being spotted and firing.
The druid even thanked him in chat for it. Good team
@@IIIJG52 I'm not sure, cause he did the same thing multiple times.
Good Guy Fletcher.
This ship brought to you by mouse manufacturers everywhere
The Fletcher... hope he got a complement, played like a boss, supporting the Druid with his smokes.
I comped the man you bet your ass. Only reason I did so much damage was because of him.
@ 9:16 - "epic smoke btw fletcher" - "your compliment has been received"
@@BIackCadillac Good stuff, both of you played a good game!
@Jon Grey Watching on my potato laptop I really struggle to make out what's mentioned in chat (perhaps I should lead with that next time -_-').
"Is there such a thing as 'enough dakka'?"
"At the point in time when bullets can pass through the interdimensional walls, when firepower takes up the entirety and eternity of space and time all being stuck in a never ending life and death cycle as bullets recover and destroy their bodies in quick succession no one able to think about anything but the sheer force of the bullets rapidly flying literally everywhere in the materium turning the Warp itself into nothing but a sea of semi-automatic weaponry. Then there will be enough dakka.
Or at least almost."
-The Man Emperor of Mankind
another great example of why TTS is sorely missed :/
Yeah now what, i think he actually has a point their.
There can never be anough dakka! Waaaaaagh!! Dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka....
That's arguably one of the best lines from Emperor TTS.
😵🤪
At 18:07 the midway actually didn't bomb the ship because he wanted the dude to get the kraken, big ups for his generosity.
The Yamagiri tried to steal the kill again tho. Don't see Midways shooting HE from behind islands very often.
@@casperreininga3253 Was going to post that 63hp left after the first volley from the Yamagiri, with another incoming.
18:02 yeah Yamagiri did shoot two volleys to get the kill.
15:42 OMG I googled it and died laughing. Maaan Jingles after all those years you still give me a hearty laugh. Thats why I am subbed for years now.
That is why Jingles is the best!
Didn't know what I expected, but I wasn't let down!
It even makes sense when thinking about it.
Explain? I don't want it on my internet history.
I being ex military already knew what it ment and its more common here in australia in every day slang anyway but when he came out with it I almost choked on my coffee as i had a mouth full of it at the time, DAMN YOU JINGLES!! LOL
yup, i googled it too and laughed way too hard :D
Druid, A welcome addition for those who want Tea fueled shells and set everyone in Yorkshire fire 😂
Spiff would be proud to read this
too bad druid only fires month old cookies
Ah, good to see another Spiff supporter here. :)
Perfectly balanced ship
With no exploits
The teamwork in this game is to die for. From the Fletcher smoking up his gunboats, the Yamagiri and Druid communicating their arsenals, the supportive CV and the understanding of not securing the kill for a charitable Kraken and finally the lack of "no cap kill all" attitude. Can't wait to see WG monetizing this because I'd pay anything to be in a game like this.
I love my Druid, it's just a really, really angry destroyer that has decided it's had enough, ramped its gun up to 11 and if it needs torps, it'll just use itself. It'll pump out damage at a hilarious rate, and that with this reload/tick-rate issue. I love Fireskull's "Come here Missouri, I want my Kraken", absolutely a thing a Druid player should say: Come here, I want to hit you with my stupid reload stick.
Credit to the Fletcher, Yamagiri and CV for being good teammates and nice people in chat, the CV even holding his drop to allow the Kraken; renews the hope that WOWS can be a game where people work together and can be pleasant human beings.
I love the Missouri's "Come get it" in immediate response without missing a beat. Less than five seconds, he typed that the moment he saw the message.
I have got so many ram kills in my Druid when enemy DD's think they can take me two on one which they could if they didn't insist on getting close enough for me to ram the second after gunning down the first.
Well... if it wasnt for the rockstar of a Fletcher who smoked him up twice and spotted, i'm quite sure the game would've been quite different. The problem with the gun boat DDs is that if they havent somebody to spot they will have issues. Friesland has same problem, and the reason why i don't play it. As soon you smoke up you get reported by somebody who wants you to spot for them.
Fireskull is clearly a keen scholar of the HMS Glowworm school of destroyer warfare.
Played in my Jingles commanded Jutland yesterday and asked for AA support. Gave me a good laugh when I heard "We need more dakka!!"
He didn't so much as sink the Marco polo through damage as he added so much weight to the super structure that it capsized
My drink was ejected at high speed from my nostrils upon hearing you describing the final phase of the game as the vinegar stroke! 😂🤣 FMD you come out with some real pearls, no doubt!
I see what you did there... 😁
In the Georgia, I'll charge a smokescreen regardless of if the ship that layed it has torps or not. All engines ahead flank, load HE (or AP if it's a cruiser), and secondaries blazing away.
I too don't like destroyers without torpedoes, and I'm a DD main. Without torps I find you struggle to zone larger ships away from you. Without torpedoes you lose the ability to do a lot of aplha damage, or to make enemy ships think about the possibility of torpedoes coming to them. Without torpedoes, an enemy ship doesn't have to think twice pushing you, or coming around an island to punch your face in.
I don't like *cruisers* without torpedoes, the thought of running a destroyer without them terrifies me! The speed on HMS Druid doesn't bother me as much as some as I *adore* the responsiveness of the RN CLs and DDs, as good for getting you out of trouble as it is for getting you in to it and hey, at least you're not usually the first one spotted as everyone else is faster :D
Pure gunship DD's, especially with no radar, tend to be a one-trick pony. Of course, it's one hell of a trick.
So nearly as bad as being a battleship then.
I remember way back in the age of peddle powered computer games one game had fast firing auto-cannon on a tank but the same server checking cycle problem meant they fired no faster than the other guns. They did a simple fix. Every reload counted as two reloads allowing double the time between the reload check. Essentially in technobabble terms they added a ready rack for the ammunition.
The chat was amusing to watch, seemed like everyone was having fun and taking jabs at each other while still fully communicating everything necessary for success. GGs to all involved, on both sides.
I heard "Vinegar strokes" and I'm like "wow, Jingles is going blue"
What is vinegar strokes
A guns only destroyer charging and gunning down a super dreadnought? The boundary's of reality have slipped a bit.
“I am a Pole”
He was spotted with radar, knew he couldn't get away so just went for it from what I seen
That shouldn't have worked. Ever. The GK has two light cruisers strapped to each side. This is a prime example of Wargaming's vodka fuelled reality.
@@silk2612 True and he should never have made it out alive.
To be fair, the GK was bow on so his secondaries weren’t shooting and he didn’t even try to shoot the Druid with main battery either. He should’ve been able to nuke him, he just didn’t bother.
Fletcher and Midway were champs this game too. Fletcher with its godly teamwork, and Midway with its excellent sportsmanship attitude.
The fear I felt as a Shima player learning that gunboats are actually supposed to be firing FASTER than they already are
True lmao
yeah. by about 4% lol
Funnily enough, destroyer in Dutch is translated to "torpedobootjager", which means "torpedoboat hunter". But the Friesland-class destroyers have no torpedoes. But in reality, they are "onderzeebootjagers", or submarine hunters.
In the late 19th century, a new tye of shop called the torpedo boat emerged. It was small, and fast, and only existed to get torpedoes close to big ships while evading gunfire from them. The direct counter to these was the "torpedo boat destroyer", and I'll leave you to figure out what happened after.
Well the function of a destroyer (or one of them) was to shield the capital ships, from torpedo boats. (German:Schnellboote, English: MTB).
So the Friesland class were "Jagers" (lit: hunters) meant to hunt down any stray game that wishes to fart in the general direction of the capital ships (or transports :) ).
So the name is not because they hunt *with* torpedos, but they hunt the delivery platforms of torpedo's: i.e. Torpedoboten.
torpedoboat hunter does not mean it has torpedos. It means that it hunts torpedo boats... you know the small ones having an engine and torps to rush dreadnoughts. The whole reason why "torpedo boat destroyers", shortened to destroyers, were created as a class in the first place.
Aww...not even one of Jungle's famous drawn battle result screens? I feel robbed!
one thing i dont see mentioned enough with druid videos, and its why he was fine with charging the GK, watch how many and how fast it pops the secondaries. The druid can get to detection range, and then strip a full side of secondaries before the mains can turn or reload
"Thanks for wathing until the end" Jingles, are you implying people leave prematurely? TO THE SALT MINES!
11:00 "Seven different shades of shit"? That had me cackle with laughter.
I like how the Marco Polo 17:16 appears to be sporting a Reading Rainbow decal.
In ancient times,
Hundreds of years before the dawn of history
Lived a strange race of people, the DRUIDS
No one knows who they were or what they were doing
But their legacy remains
Hewn into the living rock, of Stonehenge
There actually was a destroyer named HMS Druid - an Acheron-class vessel launched in 1911. She served during the First World War and was sold for scrap in 1921.
Jingles almost pronounces Groningen correctly. I am so proud of him!
If you sequentially fire, it actually only checks every other tick, which means the threshold for a skill to "apply" is actually 0.28s.
So it goes from being 1/3rd as fast as minecrafts 20/second to 1/6th as fast
15:34 I love how the rudder is full to port but the ship goes straight :D
Replay rudder and engine indicators aren't shown correctly for some reason
I haven't played world of warships for years, but the history lesson is worth the watch.
I actually thought it was just me but what you say is actually true about the delay in firing. i first noticed it with Hms Minotaur, where i would be feverishly clicking the mouse but seeing my guns reload and there is a slight pause before discharge of the round.
"Vinegar strokes" = last thrust
See Jingles perfecctly acceptable for a family channel
The simple way to get a torpedo-less destroyer to be able to farm targets like this is to not pick fights alone. Make sure enemies you're fighting are at decent range, and are sufficiently distracted by a currently ongoing fight, so you can rain fire on them with no risk as they'll either have to ignore you, or, if they want to charge you, make them have to turn broadside to the ship they're fighting with bigger guns. Being that, even at this fire rate, you do only chip damage (though it adds up), they'll often continue to go for their current target instead of you, or withdraw entirely, and if you do get approached they'll get absolutely smacked by the ship they're still fighting. Knowing when to withdraw - mainly, when a ship turns to approach you, when the smoke is dissipating, or when your assisting artillery goes down - is also crucial.
Secondarily, note that a lot of players might not know you don't have torpedoes. Whether they just don't comprehend the power of a destroyer and charge anyways, don't comprehend the common source of a smokescreen and ignore it, thus getting too close, or just don't realize you don't have torpedoes and stay back is irrelevant, it just makes players unpredictable in a game like this.
That said, I don't play the game anymore, but this is some rule of thumb type tactics for these sort of craft.
It has been so many years since I last heard the term Vinegar strokes Jingles, gave me a good laugh to hear it so randomly :D
One thing jingles, its not that you dont get the benefit of the skills, its that there are break points to your rof.. so AR doesn't give you a smooth increase, it dumps it at you each time you make it past a break point to an earlier tic. But that also means more lag is less rof :\
Being an older English bloke who plays this game, it's nice to occasionally get your take on things. Although, my wife despairs when she finds me watching a video of a video game! Unfortunately, I'm often quite crap, I put that down to being 68. Thing is, I enjoy having a game of warships. If I do something really stupid I do feel quite annoyed. Mind, last week I got kraken(not the 1st time, I hasten to add) and I phoned my eldest son to tell him- he's the one who got me into wot and wow! I can't understand why he wasn't that impressed, perhaps he was working ( what's that?)!
" Vinegar Strokes ", LOL, Admiral, you were BORN in trouble, I am in the same boat and know that I can get away with some things as many do not look at me if it can be avoided.
127mm Royal Navy shell weight: ca. 30 kg.
Number of shells hit: 744
Total weight of shells hit: 22320 kg
Druids dont need to penetrate; ships will sink from carrying all the extra weight.
That's a bit over 22 tons; that's less than a percent of a _Fletcher's_ fully loaded weight. _Minotaur_ weighs four times that; _Iowa_ five times _that._ Somehow I think they can survive the weight without capsizing.
"Acktchually..."
The positioning of the druid at the final moments of the battle gives a great wallpaper. Thanks fireskull also for that lol
I am about a month away from being 40 and have never heard the phrase 'Vinegar Strokes' before....I've learned something. Jesus.....also you're awesome Jingles.
This is a family-friendly channel?
Never noticed... ^^
BTW Fireskull did an epic job!
you can't say "vinegar strokes" and then proclaim yourself to be a "family" channel lol. i do like this channel alot, and i don't even play warships so i appreciate you explaining stuff along the way
This is a family channel!
*swears like a sailor in some vids*
It's totally fine if you're not comfortable with DDs that don't have torps. I can see why they wouldn't. It's an extremely powerful combo to have a smoke, hydro AND a heal. You can get rushed but that's why you have to play smart. Either play around teammates or attack ships that can't afford to rush you. Another thing is that many players fail to hit torps because they're not as easy as just shooting your main guns at someone, so people play gunboat DDs and usually the DDs with no torps have amazing guns. I personally struggle to play torpedo reliant DDs because a single turn from the enemy can ruin the whole shot, and then I'm stuck waiting 3 minutes for my torps to come back up while I provide absolutely nothing for my team.
i am mostly fascinated by the ammount of teamwork and friendly conversation in the chat. this must be a different game than what i played
Well, to be fair, this player have both talent and knowledge to do this kind of gameplay. So, it's absolutely deserved.
Vinegar Strokes.... oh Jingles, not heard that expression for many a year... made my day. 😁
Jingles' being kind and calling it a "bug" and an "issue" (the reload and the Gearing's size). I call it the results of the great CC Purge of 2021. I mean if only there was a player with a lot of passion who was also a community contributor who was testing out all these things and keeping wargaming honest. . . . If only such a saint existed.
So like the warthog scene from Red vs Blue:
“That things gonna run out of ammo at some point, right?”
What I want to now, is how does the reloading of this ship work? It has 127mm guns that reload faster than you can cycle a bolt action rifle.
Pretty sure all of the guns in WoWs are sped up for fun/'balance' reasons
Magic
@@silverhost9782 By the 1950s, autoloaders really were that good. WoWS actually nerfs the Bofors 120mm/50s on the Friesland and Halland compared to the 1.4 second reload that the historical guns achieved.
@@bfrobin446 Fair enough, although I meant more generally too. BBs firing salvos every 20s is sped up for example
thank you jingles, i appreciate you
Jingles' commentary is extra spicy this video and I'm sure you'll agree, we LOVE it
“Build a sandbank” I’m crying over here!😅
16:05 -- the Zorkiy did turn into the torpedoes, as Jingles said, but maybe he really did have to do that. Watch astern of the Zorkiy ...
Hope you're having a good one Jingles, enjoy that box of dakka!
I like that Fireskull acknowledged how awesome the Fletcher's smokes were. Too bad the Fletcher didn't keep himself alive with them.
no special Jingles battle report, I feel robbed by a free content you make :)
Jingles, you're wrong. We all know that every ship has at least one really, really big torpedo...
The in game chat was really friendly as well.
In WoWS terms: "It appears that the captain of that Zorkiy herped when he really should have derped".
And to think the name Zorkiy actually means "Vigilant". :)
if you're reading the chat, you'll notice that the Midway actually asked him to take the kraken, which is pretty sick
I think if the Zorky were to have turned behind the island, he would have gotten hit by another set of torpedoes that passed by probaby fired by the Yamagiri
drinking game
take a shot every time jingles says torpedoes
You naughty, naughty boy. Vinegar strokes. My god the things I learn...
😁😁😁😁
Jingles, while the ending was surprising and possibly heretical that they didn't try harder, at least we can all be consoled with the knowledge the GK and Lyon still sailed in straight lines.
This is a perfect submarine hunting destroyer
The US DD model update is actually slated for this summer, according to the roadmap WG announced two weeks ago.
18:13 As someone who plays Khaba and Marceau, IFHE is nearly worthless on top tier DDs(Unless it's a Japanese 100mm armed DD because of their stock pen being 30mm), it's only helpful for dealing with the DD lines with more than the standard 19mm armor plating that you are better off loading the AP for, and while there are a few of those, it's just not worth the points investment. 3 points is just not worth it when you could spend those points on Main Battery and AA Specialist for an actual boost to your DPM, even though it is only minor a boost is a boost.
Now I'm no pro at DDs, that is just my opinion, but I highly doubt there is any skilled DD player above T7 DDs who would say IFHE is worth taking. It's only worth taking T7 and lower because those DDs are likely to meet T7 BBs and lower, and T6/7 BBs have only 26mm of bow and stern plating meaning a 127mm armed DD with IFHE can pen their bow, but what they CAN"T do is pen the deck of most T8+ Cruisers and they can't even pen the bow/stern of American or German Heavy Cruisers, and can't pen anything but the superstructure on most T8+ Battleships(I can only think of around 2 exceptions, Incomparable, and Slava both have 25mm bow/stern.)
COMMANDER, WE NEED MORE DAKKA
If they can make up a ship, you can make up a context! Something with Vikings and mermaids!
i'm sry but, no Jingles, i'm certain that the reload/firing doesnt change in a replay. Just doesn't work cause there would be a bigger and bigger desync between the replay and the game while played. I mean, it's WG so there could be a difference in shells fired during the match and in the replay^^
With 1.9s and the 2/7 tick you get 6.65 ticks every 1.9s. You need to get below ~1.71s (6 ticks) reload to have a actual difference
"Vinegar strokes" bwahaha! Haven't heard that expression for donkey's ears :p
in the friesland, when a cruiser charges into your smoke, you jut switch to AP and wait for it to get close enough :D
0:31 You mean, "making ship up."
I’ve seen that delay too. Weird lag, … when it happens. Tiny lag-spikes when its a server-delay.
your not alone there jingles
No jingles he zigged when he really should have zorked!
The Joy of DAKKA!, with Bub Rustshoota
DDs like Druid are what Wargaming likes to refer to as "DD Hunters", Destroyers with no torpedoes but good enough guns to duke it out with other Destroyers while also usually having less guns than same tier counterparts.
Jingles: you actually can't tell from a replay
Me: ah, so it's the exact opposite of most world of tanks replays. Where in that game the on screen reload timer almost never lines up with the actual reload
Technically every ship in WoWs has at least one torpedo. The ship herself. :P
The attempted kill steal on the marco polo leaving him on just over 60hp lol that was close
I mean technically there wouldn't be any families if there weren't any vinegar strokes so it's probably ok Jingles.
I must agree a 20+kt Destroyer without torpedoes is not a destroyer but a Frigate (or Sloop if you are British - but they are weird)
At least jingles didn't get deleted by that cake.
Took him long enough to notice that Zorkiy, poor Fletcher.
I agree with you Jingles. I just can't seem to make DD's without torpedoes work. I have a hard enough time making DD's without smoke work.
15:42 G** DAMMIT JINGLES! 🤣🤣🤣
This battle was most probably was on the NA server as everyone in chat is speaking American and they can at least understand each other to begin with.
You just don't get this kind of comms and coordination on the European server unless it's late at night (say between 11pm and 1am UK time) and all the kids and most of the Krauts, Frogs etc have gone to bed and even then coordination is rare-ish although the banter can be funny and entertaining.
;-)
Thanks Jingles.
Vinegar strokes.... you lean your head back...vinegar stokes....you bite your lip.....
Thanks for explaining the reload bug; I had wondered why the fire rate on my Friesland didn't feel right. Can't say I regret leaving this game.
he exaggerated by alot. It is by far not as bad as everyone is saying. It isn't even a bug... at worst the reload is higher by 141ms. by average about 70ms so 0.07 secounds...
vinegar strokes ... Jesus, Jingles. Tbf I play lower tier destroyers precisely because they are gunboats. I like the idea of taking on the big boys in a little ship... shades of Sir Francis Drake and all that.
2:40 he could get it down to 6.6km
That charge gave of polish destroyer vibes
212k without torpedoes or fires... and all those bounces and semipens... whoo!
Battle of legends.
Fletcher with epic smokes.
Druid with balls of steel.
Carrier checking kills and stop bombing to hand Druid the kraken.
Jeez, Louise..
